Campgrounds and RV parks near Walkerton, ON

The Saugeen River is the region's main draw. Paddlers put in at Lobies Campground for canoe and kayak trips, and Saugeen Cedars Family Campground runs a complimentary shuttle upriver so tubers, canoeists, and kayakers can float back to their sites. Fishing for smallmouth bass, pike, and trout is common along the river and its tributaries. Walkerton has a compact downtown with shops, restaurants, and a grocery store, useful for provisioning mid-trip. The Saugeen Rail Trail links Walkerton with Paisley for cycling and walking. Day trips are easy: Lake Huron beaches at Southampton, Port Elgin, and Kincardine are within about 40 minutes, and Sauble Beach and the southern Bruce Peninsula sit an hour or so north.

Winter camping is not offered at these parks; municipal, private, and conservation grounds all close for the season.

Saugeen Cedars provides water and 30-amp electrical sites, including riverfront and pull-through options for larger rigs, plus a dump station and laundry. Saugeen Bluffs runs 181 sites, with 102 serviced 30-amp sites and 79 unserviced; ATVs and dirt bikes are not permitted. Cell coverage is generally reliable in and around Walkerton and thins out along river valleys and back concessions. Firewood is typically sold on site; local burn restrictions may apply in dry spells. Black flies and mosquitoes are heaviest in late May and June.
