The headline attraction at Aiguebelle is its geology. The best window for full services and operational campgrounds runs from late May to early September. Winter brings deep cold and heavy snow rather than RV camping. Most private campgrounds in the region shut down, while the park pivots to snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and rustic cabin stays accessible by car, ski or snowshoe depending on the sector. Lac Preissac is normally frozen from about mid-November to late April. Bugs are a real factor for trip planning: mosquitoes and blackflies can be intense in early summer, and visitors should bring repellent and a head net when camping. Early September is often the sweet spot for cooler temperatures, fewer insects and lower campground occupancy.

Expect remote, boreal-forest camping with limited cell coverage and long drives between services. Pick up groceries in Rouyn-Noranda or La Sarre, which offer the best choice of shops in the area. At Lac Matissard - Aiguebelle Provincial Park, the Abijévis sector offers a mix of serviced, semi-serviced and unserviced sites along with ready-to-camp units, a playground, a convenience store, showers, drinking water and a waste-water dump station. A common room and discovery activities make it workable for families. Roads are paved to the Mont-Brun entrance, with some gravel sections inside. Wildlife sightings are common, including moose, beaver, black bear and smaller mammals. Pack for cool nights even in mid-summer.
