Campgrounds near Brantley, Alabama
Brantley sits in Crenshaw County in south-central Alabama, a short drive from the Conecuh National Forest and a cluster of small lakes formed by dams on the Conecuh and Pea Rivers. The area is rural, with pine forest, farmland, and warm-water fishing lakes forming the backdrop for most RV trips. Travelers typically base out of one of a handful of parks within roughly a thirty to forty-five minute radius.
Cypress Landing RV Park and Gantt Lake RV Park and Rentals are the closest options, both oriented toward anglers on Gantt Lake. Point A Park RV Park and Campground sits on Point A Lake near Andalusia, while Frank Jackson State Park offers a state-run lakeside campground near Opp to the south. The Oaks Family RV Park and Campground rounds out the local options for RV renters looking for full-hookup sites.
Most sites in the area are pull-through or back-in with 30 and 50 amp service, and terrain is generally flat, which keeps leveling simple for larger rentals.
Things to do around Brantley
Fishing drives most visits. Gantt Lake and Point A Lake are known for largemouth bass, crappie, and bream, and both have public boat ramps close to the campgrounds. Frank Jackson State Park adds a 1,000-acre lake, a fishing pier, and a boardwalk bridge to an island used for picnicking and wetland wildlife viewing.
Beyond the water, the Conecuh National Forest to the south has hiking on the Conecuh Trail, longleaf pine stands, and small swimming areas at Open Pond. Day trips run to downtown Andalusia, the Solon Dixon Forestry Education Center, and the Pioneer Museum of Alabama in Troy.
Kids typically split time between swimming, fishing off the dock, and playground time at the state park.

June - August
91° / 72°F 140 mmHot and humid; afternoon thunderstorms common.

77° / 54°F 90 mmCooler nights; Atlantic hurricane season runs into November.
- winter
December - February
61° / 43°F 140 mmMild and wet; December is typically the wettest month.
Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons for RV travel in this part of Alabama. From mid-March through May, daytime highs sit in the seventies and low eighties, wildflowers bloom in the Conecuh, and lake temperatures warm enough for swimming by late April. October and early November bring cooler nights and lower humidity, and campground bookings ease after Labor Day.
Summer is hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms common from June through August. Waterfront sites at Gantt Lake and Point A Lake stay in demand around Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day weekends, so reservations should be locked in several weeks ahead.
Winters are mild but wet, with December typically the wettest month. Most private parks in the area stay open year-round, though some amenities such as swim beaches and camp stores run reduced hours. Hard freezes are uncommon, so water hookups usually remain in service.
How to book a campground near Brantley
Frank Jackson State Park uses the Alabama State Parks reservation system, bookable online through the state parks website or by calling the park office. Sites can be reserved up to one year in advance, and holiday weekends fill first. Maximum camping stay is 14 nights, with longer stays allowed at select parks between November and March.
Private parks including Cypress Landing RV Park, Gantt Lake RV Park and Rentals, Point A Park RV Park and Campground, and The Oaks Family RV Park and Campground take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Deposits are typical, and cancellation windows vary by park.
For larger Class A or fifth-wheel rentals, call ahead to confirm site length and whether the park has a designated big-rig loop.
What to expect
Expect small, family-run parks rather than resort-style campgrounds. Amenities usually include full hookups, a bathhouse, a boat ramp, and a small camp store or office, but not pools, splash pads, or organized activities. Frank Jackson State Park offers water, electric, sewer, and cable at its 32 RV sites. Cell service is generally reliable on major carriers, though it can drop in low spots near the lakes.
Wildlife is part of the experience. Deer, wild turkey, and a wide range of songbirds are common, and alligators are present in some south Alabama waterways, so children and pets should be kept back from shorelines at dawn and dusk.
Bring insect repellent, especially from late spring through early fall, and plan to reprovision in Andalusia or Luverne, since Brantley itself has limited grocery options.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Brantley, AL
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Brantley, AL?
RV rental in Brantley is one of the most affordable ways to explore south Alabama, with most travel trailers starting around $90 to $150 per night and Class C motorhomes typically running $175 to $275 per night. Because Brantley sits in rural Crenshaw County rather than a high-demand tourist hub, daily rates here often beat what you would find near Gulf Shores or Birmingham. Booking midweek and traveling in spring or fall can shave another 10 to 20 percent off your total. Tip: filter for Instant Book listings and message hosts about multi-night discounts, which many owners offer for trips of five nights or longer.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Brantley%2C%20AlabamaWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Brantley, AL?
Good news: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Brantley. Alabama does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement for personal-use motorhomes or travel trailers. Approved drivers on RVezy are generally 25 or older, and you will verify your ID through the platform when you book. Visiting from outside the United States? An International Driving Permit paired with your home-country license keeps you road-legal across Alabama. Confirm any breed or weight preferences with your host before booking, and pack a tie-out, water bowl, and current vaccination records. alapark.com/parks/frank-jackson-state-park-campgroundWhen is the best time of year to rent an RV in Brantley?
Brantley's sweet spot for RV camping runs from mid-March through May and again from late September through early November, when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 70s and 80s and humidity finally backs off. Summers are hot and muggy with highs in the low 90s and frequent afternoon thunderstorms, fine if you've got strong AC and a shaded site. Winters are mild (50s to 60s daytime), making Brantley a great snowbird stopover. Pro tip: late October brings peanut harvest season across Crenshaw County and roadside boiled-peanut stands you won't find anywhere else in the country.
weather.gov/mob/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in Brantley?
You'll do great, and Brantley is actually one of the friendliest places in Alabama for first time renting an RV. Traffic is light, US-331 and AL-10 are wide and well-maintained, and there's almost no urban congestion to navigate. Your RVezy host will give you a full walkthrough at pickup covering propane, slide-outs, the water system, generator, and dump procedures, you won't be left to figure it out alone. Start with a smaller travel trailer or Class C motorhome rental in Brantley if you're nervous, and consider delivery so your first time behind the wheel is on a relaxed back road. 24/7 roadside assistance has your back if anything comes up.
alea.gov/dps/highway-patrolWhat if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You are never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so whether you have a flat on US-331, a dead battery at Point A Lake, or you need a tow back toward Montgomery, one phone call gets help dispatched. Your host is also reachable by message through the RVezy app for quick questions about quirks of their specific RV (think: how do I reset the inverter?). For mechanical issues, the nearest full-service RV repair shops are in Montgomery and Dothan, both within about an hour of Brantley. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after every trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106074-Roadside-assistance-coverageCan I take my Brantley RV rental on a longer road trip?
Yes, an RV road trip from Brantley opens up the entire Southeast. Popular routes include the Gulf Coast Loop (Brantley to Gulf Shores to Pensacola Beach to Destin, about 350 miles round trip), the Civil Rights Trail north through Montgomery and Selma to Birmingham (about 200 miles one way), and a Florida Panhandle run east toward Panama City and Apalachicola. Cross-state travel within the continental US is included by default on most rentals. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals due to insurance limitations. Confirm any state-line specifics in the listing notes before you book.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much will fuel cost on my Brantley RV trip?
Alabama has some of the cheapest gas in the country, which is a huge win for your Brantley RV trip budget. Expect a Class C motorhome to deliver about 8 to 10 mpg and a travel trailer pulled by a half-ton truck to run 10 to 13 mpg. With Alabama regular gas typically running below the national average, a 500-mile round trip to Gulf Shores and back often costs $130 to $200 in fuel depending on current pump prices. Tip: fill up in Brantley or Luverne before heading toward the coast, beach-town prices climb noticeably the closer you get to Gulf Shores.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book campgrounds near Brantley?
For the best campgrounds near Brantley, plan ahead but don't panic. Alabama State Parks (Frank Jackson, Blue Springs, Florala) accept reservations up to 11 months in advance through the official ReserveAmerica-powered Alabama State Parks system, and waterfront sites for spring break, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day weekends often book out 4 to 6 months early. Midweek and shoulder-season sites can frequently be grabbed 2 to 4 weeks out. Private parks like Point A and Sherling Lake usually have more last-minute flexibility. Insider tip: if Frank Jackson is full, check cancellations 72 hours before arrival, that's when the no-shows release.
alapark.com/reservationsWhat are the roads like around Brantley for RV driving?
Driving conditions around Brantley are about as RV-friendly as it gets in the Southeast. US-331 is a four-lane divided highway running straight south to the Gulf and north to Montgomery, perfect for taller rigs with zero low-clearance worries. Local routes like AL-10 and AL-106 are two-lane country roads with light traffic and gentle, rolling terrain (no mountain grades anywhere in Crenshaw County). Watch for slow-moving farm equipment in spring and fall, deer at dawn and dusk, and occasional summer thunderstorms that can drop heavy rain fast. Pro tip: if a storm rolls in, pull off at a Pilot or Love's along US-331 and wait it out, it usually clears within an hour.

Larger Class A and Class C motorhomes typically sleep 4 to 8 with seatbelted travel seats for everyone on the road. nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicle-safetyWhat add-ons and options can I get with my Brantley RV rental?
Lots of options to customize your rental. Common add-ons include generator usage packages, propane refills, kitchen and linen kits, outdoor camping gear (chairs, grills, hammocks), bike racks, and pet packages. Mileage policies typically include 100 to 150 free miles per night with overage at $0.35 to $0.50 per mile, and unlimited mileage is offered by select hosts (great for the Gulf Coast loop). Pickup is usually at the host's property in or near Brantley, but delivery to Frank Jackson, Point A, or your home address is widely available. Pro tip: bundle add-ons at booking rather than adding them later, hosts often discount package deals.
fmcsa.dot.gov/regulationsHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through RVezy at the time of booking using a major credit card, no cash changing hands with the host. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is pre-authorized on your card separately from the booking payment and released after drop-off, assuming the RV is returned in the same condition. To avoid any deposit issues on your Brantley RV rental, take date-stamped photos at pickup and drop-off, return with the same fuel and propane levels, and empty the holding tanks if your host requires it. Communicate any incidents through the RVezy app for full documentation, that is the smoothest path to a clean refund.
