Campgrounds and RV parks near Coosada, AL

Coosada sits in Elmore County just north of Montgomery, along the lower Coosa River corridor where the Coosa and Tallapoosa rivers meet to form the Alabama River. The area gives RV travelers quick access to the state capital, historic river forts, and a cluster of full-hookup parks within a short drive. Closest options include Rendezvous Station Campground and Camp Sherrye on the Coosa, a campground and RV park located directly on the Coosa River in Wetumpka with level pull-thru, back-in and pull-in sites offering full hookups, concrete patios, and many sites right on the river, sized to accommodate everything from small campers to the biggest big rigs. South of the city, Montgomery Marina RV Resort and Capital City RV Park serve travelers who want to stay near downtown Montgomery, while Autauga Creek Landing RV Campground sits across the river in Prattville. Alabama is classified as humid subtropical under the Köppen climate system, with hot, humid summers and mild winters, so the region supports year-round RV camping, with the shoulder seasons offering the most comfortable conditions.

Private parks in the area, including Camp Sherrye on the Coosa, Montgomery Marina RV Resort, Capital City RV Park, Rendezvous Station Campground, and Autauga Creek Landing RV Campground, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Booking a few weeks ahead is usually enough outside of major event weekends, though riverfront sites go first. Public options near Wetumpka use in-person registration rather than a central portal. At Fort Toulouse-Fort Jackson, campers register at the visitor center between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., or with the on-duty camp host between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.; the main park gate is locked at 9 p.m. and opens at 5 a.m., and registrants must be 18 or older with a valid driver's license and a vehicle with valid tags. Race weekends at Talladega and Montgomery-area events tighten availability across the region.
