Campgrounds and RV parks near Gadsden, AL

Noccalula Falls Park anchors the local attractions with a 90-foot waterfall, botanical gardens, a pioneer village, hiking trails through the Black Creek gorge, and a miniature train. The Black Creek Trail is a crushed-stone, ADA-accessible path that connects to additional single-track for hiking and mountain biking. On the water, Neely Henry Lake and the Coosa River draw anglers targeting bass, crappie, and catfish, plus paddlers and pontoon renters. Bigs Wills Creek Campground runs a tubing operation with shuttle service on Big Wills Creek, with float trips ranging from about an hour to a full afternoon. Day-trip options include Little River Canyon National Preserve about 30 minutes northeast, the Lookout Mountain Parkway, Talladega Superspeedway to the south, and the Chief Ladiga Bike Trail.

Summers in Gadsden are long, hot, and humid, with July daily highs averaging around 90°F and many afternoons topping that mark. Afternoon thunderstorms are common, and river-front sites at parks like River Rocks Landing and Greensport RV Park and Campground book earliest for weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Tubing on Big Wills Creek and boating on Neely Henry Lake are at their peak. Spring and fall are the sweet spots for touring. Temperatures are comfortable, humidity is lower, and rainfall is well distributed, though April is a notable severe-weather month across northern Alabama. Fall arrives dry before turning wetter into December, and Lookout Mountain foliage typically peaks in late October and early November. Winters are short but wet. December through February are on average the wettest months, daily average temperatures sit in the low 40s, and measurable snow is rare. Most Coosa River parks remain open, but expect saturated grass sites and reduced hours at on-site amenities like pools and stores.

Most private RV parks in the Gadsden area offer full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service, water, and sewer, along with Wi-Fi of varying quality, bathhouses, and laundry. River Rocks Landing is the most resort-style option, with three pools including an infinity pool, a splash pad, boat docks and a ramp on the Coosa, and an on-site storm shelter, which is a useful detail during spring thunderstorm season. Sites along the Coosa River tend to be gravel or grass and can run narrow, so measure awnings and slide-outs before booking. Cell service is generally strong across Etowah County, and Gadsden proper has full-service grocery stores, big-box retailers, and RV supply options within a short drive of every park on this list. Pets are welcome at most parks; check individual rules for breed and leash requirements.
