Holtville sits in Elmore County in central Alabama, along the Coosa River corridor between Wetumpka and Lake Jordan. The area is a practical base for RV travelers heading to Montgomery, Prattville, or the lakes of the Alabama River system, with most campgrounds clustered within a short drive along US-231 and I-65. Riverfront options near town include Camp Sherrye on the Coosa, a campground and RV park located directly on the Coosa River in Wetumpka, offering spacious level campsites with modern amenities that accommodate everything from small campers to the largest RVs. Rendezvous Station Campground and Autauga Creek Landing RV Campground add smaller, quieter alternatives closer to Prattville and the Autauga Creek waterway. Private parks in this area typically take reservations directly through their own websites or through third-party portals. Camp Sherrye on the Coosa in Wetumpka is bookable through Campspot, and several other Alabama private parks use the same workflow. Book waterfront and pull-through sites first, as those turn over slowest. Alabama State Parks and US Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds along the broader river system use their own reservation portals, with Corps sites managed through Recreation.gov on a six-month rolling window. Holiday weekends, spring break, and Auburn or Alabama home-game weekends should be locked in as early as the window allows. Check cancellation policies before booking. Many private parks in the region require a deposit and enforce a multi-day cancellation window during peak months.
