Campgrounds and RV parks near La Fayette, AL

La Fayette sits in Chambers County in east-central Alabama, roughly halfway between Auburn and the Georgia state line along US-431. The town is a practical staging point for RV travelers heading to Lake Martin, a 41,150-acre reservoir with about 880 miles of wooded shoreline, and West Point Lake, a 25,900-acre Corps of Engineers impoundment on the Chattahoochee River that spans the Alabama-Georgia line. RV travelers looking for local, small-park stays can start with Lakeside RV Park and 3 Creeks Campground, both close to town. University Station RV Resort caters to travelers passing through on I-85 toward Auburn University. Eagle Landing RV Park and Eagle's Landing RV Park round out the closest privately operated options. Beyond the private parks, the biggest public draw in the area is Wind Creek State Park on Lake Martin, home to 586 campsites, all with water and electrical hookups. Corps of Engineers campgrounds ring West Point Lake, offering another well-managed public alternative within an easy drive.

Reservation systems vary by operator. Alabama State Parks, including Wind Creek on Lake Martin, are booked through the official Alapark reservation portal, with peak-season waterfront sites often filling months ahead. West Point Lake campgrounds run by the US Army Corps of Engineers, such as R. Shaefer Heard, Amity, and Holiday, are reserved through Recreation.gov, with booking windows opening several months in advance. Private parks such as Lakeside RV Park, 3 Creeks Campground, University Station RV Resort, Eagle Landing RV Park, and Eagle's Landing RV Park generally book directly through their own websites or by phone. For Auburn football weekends and summer holidays, secure private-park sites well in advance. Confirm rig-length limits, big-rig turning access, and 50-amp availability when reserving.
