Camping near Ladonia, Alabama
Ladonia is a small community within Phenix City, Alabama, located in Russell County directly across the Chattahoochee River from Columbus, Georgia. The area sits at the Alabama-Georgia state line, giving RV travelers access to campgrounds and attractions on both sides of the river. The Chattahoochee River forms the state boundary, and Walter F. George Lake (Lake Eufaula) south of the city adds another large body of water for boating and fishing.
Close-in options include Sawyer's Mobile Home Estates and RV Park and Branching Pines RV Park, both within a short drive of Ladonia. Branching Pines sits along the banks of Uchee Creek near the back gate to Fort Benning and offers full-service hookups with 30 and 50 amp service. Cedar Trail RV Park and Lakeside RV Park round out the closer private choices, while Lake Pines Campground and RV Park sits a short drive out in a pine-forested setting.
The region blends private RV parks with Chattahoochee River access points, Alabama and Georgia state parks, and Corps of Engineers lake campgrounds, making Ladonia a practical base for both quick stopovers and longer stays.
Things to do near Ladonia
The Chattahoochee River defines the recreation menu. Boating, fishing, and paddling are available on the river and on Walter F. George Lake (Lake Eufaula) south of the city. Downtown Columbus, minutes east of Ladonia, has a paved riverwalk along the Chattahoochee, with whitewater rafting, zip lining, and museum stops within walking distance of the water.
Day trips reach several notable parks. Chewacla State Park in Auburn, roughly 25 miles from Phenix City, has a 26-acre lake, a swimming area, mountain biking trails, and hiking to Chewacla Falls. Across the river in Georgia, Providence Canyon State Park offers sandy nature trails and unusual eroded canyon formations. The National Infantry Museum near Fort Benning is a common indoor stop when weather turns.

There's no special RV endorsement, no Commercial Driver's License (CDL), and no Alabama specific permit required for any motorhome or travel trailer you'll find on RVezy. You'll just need to be 25 or older and upload your license through the RVezy app so the platform can confirm your ID before pickup. Visiting from outside the United States? alapark.com/parks/chewacla-state-parkIs RV delivery available in Ladonia, Alabama?
Yes, RV delivery in Ladonia is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game-changer if it's your first time renting an RV. That means no towing, no backing into a tight site, and no figuring out the propane on your own. Delivery fees usually scale with distance, so spots within 20 to 30 miles of Ladonia, including Phenix City, Smiths Station, Opelika, and Auburn, tend to be the most affordable.

alapark.com/parks/chewacla-state-parkWhen is the best time to take an RV trip from Ladonia?
The sweet spot for a Ladonia RV trip is mid-March through mid-May and again from late September through early November, when daytime highs sit in a comfortable 65°F to 80°F range and humidity is manageable. Summer in east Alabama is genuinely hot, with July and August regularly topping 90°F and high humidity, so plan for early morning hikes and use the RV's air conditioning at shaded sites. Winters are mild, with daytime temps usually in the 50s and only occasional overnight freezes, which means RV camping in Ladonia is realistically a year round option. Pro tip: book around Auburn University home football weekends in the fall, as campgrounds within 40 miles fill up months in advance.
weather.gov/ffc/I've never driven an RV before, what should I know?

Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup that covers driving, leveling, hookups, slide-outs, and the propane system, and you can text them anytime during the trip. If city driving makes you nervous, simply choose RV delivery in Ladonia and skip the wheel entirely. Pro tip: do a slow practice loop around a quiet area like the Ladonia Elementary School lot before hitting the highway.
fmcsa.dot.gov/safety/driver-safety/cmv-driving-tips-too-fast-conditionsWhat if something breaks down during my trip?
Take a deep breath: 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every RVezy booking in Ladonia, so help is one phone call away whether you're parked at Uchee Creek or rolling down I-85 toward Atlanta. Roadside covers the common stuff like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing to the nearest qualified repair shop. Your host is also a direct text away for quick questions, like how to reset a tripped GFCI outlet or relight the water heater. And RVezy's support team is available before, during, and after your trip to coordinate anything bigger. Pro tip: snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate at pickup so you can share details fast if you ever need to call in.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Ladonia RV rental on an out-of-state road trip?

Travel into Mexico isn't permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm your route, especially if you're planning to dip into multiple states, and ask about unlimited mileage if you'll be logging serious road time.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I plan for?
Budgeting fuel for your Ladonia RV rental is easier than most people expect. Travel trailers don't burn fuel themselves (just your tow vehicle), Class B campervans average 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes typically get 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A coaches run 6 to 9 MPG. Gas in the Phenix City and Columbus area usually trends a few cents below the national average, and you'll find truck-friendly fuel stops on US 280, US 80, and along I-85 near Auburn and Opelika. For a 500-mile weekend in a Class C, plan roughly $180 to $250 in fuel at current Alabama prices. Private parks like Lake Pines and Camp David RV Resort typically take direct bookings on their websites. Pro tip: if you strike out on weekends, target a Sunday-through-Wednesday stay, you'll get your pick of sites and often a lower nightly rate to boot.
recreation.gov/What are driving conditions like around Ladonia?
Driving an RV around Ladonia is refreshingly straightforward. The terrain is flat to gently rolling, elevations sit around 300 to 500 feet, and the main routes (US 80, US 280, AL 169, and I-85 just north in Auburn) are wide, well-paved, and easy to navigate in any rig. Watch for afternoon thunderstorms from June through August, they roll in fast and can cut visibility, so pull off at a rest area if it gets heavy. Avoid taking large Class A motorhomes through downtown Phenix City and Columbus at rush hour, as the bridges over the Chattahoochee narrow up. Pro tip: the Lee Road 54 and US 431 corridor is the smoothest path north toward Auburn for bigger rigs.

Most full-service parks like Uchee Creek, Lake Pines RV Park & Campground, and Camp David RV Resort offer 30 and 50 amp electric, city water, sewer hookups, hot showers, laundry, and dump stations onsite. Alabama State Parks like Chewacla offer water and electric at most sites with a central dump station near the entrance. You can fill fresh water at any full-hookup site or campground spigot, and Phenix City has public dump stations available through some private parks for a small fee. Pro tip: if you're boondocking on private land near Ladonia, Pilot and Love's truck stops along I-85 around Auburn have potable water and dump access for travelers.
alapark.com/parks/chewacla-state-park-campgroundWhat's typically included inside RVezy rentals in Ladonia?
Local rentals are loaded with the comforts that make a family RV trip in Ladonia feel easy. Expect a fully equipped kitchen (fridge, freezer, stovetop, microwave, sink, and basic cookware), a bathroom with toilet and shower in most Class B, Class C, and travel trailer rentals, comfortable sleeping for anywhere from 2 to 10 depending on the unit, and air conditioning, which you'll absolutely want during Alabama summers. Most rigs include a TV, many have onboard generators for off-grid power, and seatbelted travel seats are standard in motorhomes. Wi-Fi varies by host, but cell coverage from AT&T and Verizon is strong across Russell and Lee counties. Pro tip: filter by sleeps count to match your group size, and check listing photos for outdoor add-ons like awnings and camp chairs.
fcc.gov/general/broadband-fact-sheetWhat add-ons and pickup options should I look for?
RVezy hosts in Ladonia offer plenty of helpful extras that make your trip smoother. Common add-ons include linen and towel packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits, outdoor camp chairs and tables, generators for Class C and travel trailer rentals ($25 to $50 per day), bike racks, and Starlink Wi-Fi on select rigs. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Ladonia, Phenix City, or Smiths Station, but RV delivery in Ladonia is widely available too, often free within a few miles and modestly priced out to Auburn, Opelika, Columbus, or campgrounds along the Chattahoochee. Mileage policies vary by host, so look for unlimited mileage listings if you're planning a long loop. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a linen package for the easiest first-timer experience.
alabama.travel/things-to-do/outdoor-recreationHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment for your Ladonia RV rental runs entirely through the secure RVezy platform, so you never hand cash to the host. You'll pay with a major credit or debit card at booking, and the charge covers the nightly rate, taxes, fees, and your chosen protection plan. A separate refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your card before pickup (amount varies by RV and the protection level you select) and is released after the trip once the host confirms the rig is returned in good shape. To avoid deposit hiccups, document the RV's condition with photos and a quick video at pickup and dropoff, return with a clean interior and the same fuel level, and follow the host's mileage and dump-station rules. Pro tip: ask the host to walk through their checkout checklist with you on day one so there are zero surprises later.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I take an RV from Ladonia across the border into Canada?
For most RVezy hosts in Ladonia, cross-border travel into Canada requires direct host approval before booking, since each host's RV registration and protection coverage need to be verified for international travel. Travel into Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals. If a Canadian adventure is on your list (popular long-haul routes from Ladonia include heading up I-65 toward the Great Lakes, roughly 900 miles to Detroit), message hosts before booking to confirm they'll approve the route, and bring your passport plus your driver's license. Pro tip: most Ladonia renters stick to the Southeast, where you can hit Florida beaches, the Smokies, and Savannah in under a day's drive each.
