Out-of-state users can book 12 months in advance, while Alabama residents can book 13 months ahead, verified by the zip code on the credit card used for the reservation. Peak fall and summer weekends can sell out within hours of opening. Horse Pens 40 is transitioning to pre-paid reservation camping. The park asks guests to call ahead and register as early as possible, since arriving without prior notice may delay check-in. Camping reservations are made by phone at 256-458-3545. Private parks such as Greensport and Safe Harbor take reservations directly by phone or through their websites, and lakefront sites at Greensport tend to book out fastest for summer weekends.
