Campgrounds and RV parks near Deltana, AK

Deltana is an unincorporated community in Alaska's Interior, immediately adjacent to Delta Junction at the end of the Alaska Highway. RV travelers use the area as a base between Tok and Fairbanks, with access to the Richardson Highway corridor and the northern Alaska Range. The closest developed campgrounds are almost all Alaska State Parks units. Delta Junction sits at the end of the Alaska Highway and is home to five state recreation areas and sites, including Delta State Recreation Site, Donnelly Creek State Recreation Site, and Clearwater State Recreation Site. Delta State Recreation Site sits right in town at Mile 267 of the Richardson Highway, Clearwater State Recreation Site lies about ten miles east along the Delta Clearwater River, and Donnelly Creek State Recreation Site is roughly 32 miles south along the braided Delta River. Big Delta State Historical Park, about eight miles north on the Richardson Highway, adds a historical stop with camping beside Rika's Roadhouse. Clearwater Lodge, near the Clearwater unit, offers a private option with food service on site.

Most sites in the area are first-come, first-served. Alaska State Parks states that all campgrounds are first come, first served and cannot be reserved unless otherwise noted. That includes the standard drive-in sites at Delta State Recreation Site, Clearwater State Recreation Site, Donnelly Creek State Recreation Site, and Big Delta State Historical Park, all of which use self-pay kiosks on arrival. Public-use cabins are the exception. Cabins in the Alaska State Parks system, including the public-use cabin at Donnelly Creek, can be booked in advance through the state parks reservation portal, historically hosted on ReserveAmerica, with a booking window of up to seven months ahead. Confirm the current portal before booking, as Alaska State Parks has been transitioning its online reservation system. Clearwater Lodge is a private operator and takes bookings directly.
