Campgrounds and RV parks near Amity, AR

The Caddo River is the main draw. Outfitters near Glenwood and Caddo Gap run float trips ranging from a few hours to full days, with easy family paddling on lower sections and livelier water after spring rains. Caddo River Camping and Canoe Rental and Arrowhead Cabin Canoe both offer boat rentals and shuttles. Lake Greeson, at Daisy State Park, adds boating, paddling, and fishing for bass, crappie, catfish, bream, and walleye, with rainbow trout stocked in the Little Missouri above and below the dam. The park also has a nature trail and the nearby Bear Creek Cycle Trail for ATV and dirt bike use. In the surrounding Ouachita National Forest, additional hiking and mountain biking trails are within easy reach. Diamond hunting at Crater of Diamonds State Park and the bathhouses at Hot Springs National Park are both within about an hour's drive.

Spring and fall are the strongest windows for RV travel around Amity. March through May brings mild temperatures and reliable river flows on the Caddo, though it is also the wettest stretch of the year and flash rises can cancel float trips. Fall cools quickly after September, with dry, comfortable weekends through November and lower campground demand. Summer is peak season for family river trips and lake camping. Daisy State Park runs interpretive programs and seasonal events, and reservations fill quickly on weekends and holidays. Heat and humidity are consistent from June through August, and river levels can drop enough by late summer to limit paddling on some Caddo sections. Winter is the quietest season. Daisy State Park's campground stays open year-round, though the visitor center runs shorter off-peak hours from December through February. Many private river outfitters run reduced hours or close between late fall and early spring. Trout fishing on the Little Missouri below Lake Greeson is a winter and early-spring draw.

Terrain around Amity is rolling foothills, with gravel roads common on the approach to private river campgrounds. Sites near the Caddo are often on gravel bars or wooded flats close to the water, so shade is good but pads can be uneven. Confirm site length and hookup type when booking a larger RV, since many private river camps mix full-hookup, water-and-electric, and primitive tent sites. Cell coverage is spotty once off the main highways, and grocery runs are easier from Glenwood or Arkadelphia than from Amity itself. Bring bug spray from late spring through early fall. Water levels on the Caddo change quickly after rain, so check the USGS gauge before committing to a float. Most of the land along the river is private, so stay on established access points and outfitter property.
