Campgrounds and RV parks near Hampton, AR

Fishing dominates the region. Moro Bay State Park sits at the confluence of Moro Bay, Raymond Lake, and the Ouachita River, with a marina renting boats and a camp store stocking bait and tackle. White Oak Lake is stocked with Florida strain largemouth bass by Arkansas Game and Fish, and also holds crappie, bream, and catfish. Lake D'Arbonne is known for bass, crappie, catfish, and bream. Hikers can walk short interpretive loops like Moro Bay's Deer Run and Low Water trails, or explore the Beech Ridge and Coastal Plain trails at White Oak Lake, which also has a mountain-bike route. Logoly State Park focuses on environmental education, with a visitor center, mineral springs, and old-growth forest suited to families with younger children.

Arkansas State Parks operate on a peak season from March through November, when visitor centers are open daily. December through February is the off-peak season, with reduced weekend hours at parks including Moro Bay, White Oak Lake, and Logoly. Campgrounds themselves generally remain open year-round: Moro Bay's bathhouse stays open through winter, and White Oak Lake continues to draw wintering bald eagles and cool-weather anglers. Spring is a wet stretch, with April averaging the most rainfall in the El Dorado area. Expect thunderstorms and occasional flooding along the Ouachita River, which can close low-lying trails such as Moro Bay's Low Water Trail. Summer is hot and humid, with July and August highs in the low to mid 90s Fahrenheit and heavy insect activity. Fall brings the most comfortable camping weather, cooler nights, lower humidity, and foliage color across the pine and hardwood mix. Lake D'Arbonne, just across the Louisiana border, sees strong birding during spring and fall migration.

Sites at Moro Bay State Park are level concrete pads with 50-amp full hookups and can handle rigs up to 45 feet, though screening between neighbors is minimal and some highway noise reaches parts of the loop. White Oak Lake has 45 sites: 4 Class A with water and 50-amp electric, 37 Class B with water and 30-amp electric, and 4 tent sites, with room for RVs up to 60 feet. There are no sewer hookups at sites, but a dump station is available. Logoly State Park is tent-oriented, with no RV hookups, so it works better as a day-use stop for RV travelers. Cell coverage is generally usable across the area, but grocery runs mean a drive to El Dorado, Camden, or Magnolia. Pets are welcome at Arkansas state park campsites when leashed.
