RV camping near Hermitage, Arkansas
Hermitage sits in Bradley County in south-central Arkansas, within easy reach of the Ouachita River basin and the piney woods of the Gulf Coastal Plain. Most RV travelers use the town as a base for state park camping and lake fishing rather than as a destination in itself, with several public campgrounds inside a short drive.
Moro Bay State Park sits at the confluence of Raymond Lake and the Ouachita River in Bradley County, Arkansas, and its campground provides 23 Class AAA campsites, each with water, 50-amp electric, and sewer hookups on spacious 60-foot pads designed to accommodate larger RVs and trailers. Gator Den RV Park and The Oaks on Bussey offer additional private-park hookups closer to town for travelers who want a simpler overnight stop.
South across the Louisiana line, Chemin-A-Haut State Park is situated north of Bastrop, Louisiana on a high bluff overlooking Bayou Bartholomew, with 46 campsites for RV and tent camping and 14 available cabins. Lake D Arbonne State Park rounds out the regional options with a large fishing lake and improved campsites.
Things to do near Hermitage
Fishing dominates the recreation calendar. At Moro Bay State Park, fishing is popular year-round where Moro Bay and Raymond Lake join the Ouachita River, and the park's marina serves as a hub for water recreation, offering boat and slip rentals along with fuel services, while a camp store at the visitor center stocks groceries, camping supplies, ice, firewood, and bait and tackle for anglers.
Families traveling with kids often cross the state line to Chemin-A-Haut State Park, where two playgrounds in the day-use area are a favorite spot of younger patrons, and the park's swimming pool is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day so campers and picnickers can refresh themselves on hot summer days.
Lake D Arbonne State Park anchors a large fishing lake in north Louisiana and, along with Gator Den RV Park and The Oaks on Bussey, gives regional travelers additional bases for boating, paddling, and lake fishing.
