Campgrounds and RV parks near Norphlet, AR

Fishing and boating anchor most trips in this area. At Moro Bay State Park, anglers target the confluence where Moro Bay and Raymond Lake meet the Ouachita River, and the park marina rents boats and slips and sells fuel, along with bait and tackle at the on-site camp store. The park also has a boat ramp, playground, and a historic ferry exhibit featuring a tugboat and barge. Hikers can walk the short Deer Run and other nature trails at Moro Bay, or head to Logoly State Park to explore trails through old-growth forest and a designated State Natural Area with mineral springs. Logoly's visitor center runs hands-on exhibits and interpreter-led programs, useful for families with kids. Nearby El Dorado adds restaurants, grocery resupply, and the downtown arts district.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel in south-central Arkansas. Daytime highs are moderate, humidity is lower than in midsummer, and the piney-woods trails at parks like Logoly and Moro Bay are pleasant to walk. These shoulder seasons align with peak interpretive programming and full marina services at Moro Bay, and reservations at Class AAA sites can fill on weekends. Summer brings hot, humid days and afternoon thunderstorms. Lake fishing, swimming, and paddling on Raymond Lake and the Ouachita River remain popular, and full-hookup sites with 50-amp electric are worth booking early to run air conditioning. Bugs, especially mosquitoes and ticks, are active from late spring into early fall. Winter is the quiet season. Moro Bay's heated bathhouse stays open year-round and the campground remains available, but visitor and marina services scale back, and daytime highs cool into the mid-50s Fahrenheit with occasional freezes overnight. Snow is rare but possible in January and February.

Moro Bay's 23 Class AAA sites have water, 50-amp electric, and sewer on level concrete pads that accommodate rigs up to about 45 feet, with picnic tables, fire rings, tent pads, and lantern posts. Sites are level and many have water views, but screening between neighbors is limited and lamp posts stay on overnight, which affects stargazing. The camp store carries basics like ice, firewood, and bait. Logoly's six group tent sites have no hookups, so RV travelers using that park usually stay elsewhere and visit for the day. Cell service reaches most of the region but can be spotty inside the pine forest. The nearest full grocery resupply for Moro Bay is roughly 23 to 25 miles away in El Dorado.
