Campgrounds near Prescott, Arkansas
Prescott sits along Interstate 30 in Nevada County, southwest Arkansas, roughly halfway between Little Rock and Texarkana. The town works well as a base for RV travellers because several distinct camping options sit within an easy drive, ranging from a quiet state-park lake to full-hookup private parks near the region's headline attraction.
The closest developed campground is White Oak Lake State Park, a quiet state park situated on Lower White Oak Lake, reached by heading east on Arkansas Highway 24 to Bluff City, then south on Highway 387. About 45 minutes northwest, Crater of Diamonds State Park anchors a second cluster of camping options in and around Murfreesboro, including Miners Camping and Rock Shop, Murfeesboro RV Park, and Castle Keepers RV Resort.
Planners typically choose between two trip styles: a lakefront stay focused on fishing and wildlife at White Oak Lake, or a diamond-hunting trip based near Murfreesboro. Many families combine both across a longer itinerary.
Things to do near Prescott
The signature activity in the region is searching for real diamonds at Crater of Diamonds State Park, the only place in the world where the public can search for natural diamonds in their original volcanic source, with visitors searching a 37-acre plowed field where any rock or mineral found is theirs to keep. Visitors can bring their own mining equipment or rent tools from the park, and the visitor center displays real uncut diamonds alongside exhibits on the area's geology.
Water and wildlife dominate the rest of the itinerary. White Oak Lake offers a marina and boat ramp, kayak rentals, hiking, biking, and wildlife viewing, with regular sightings of great blue heron, egret, osprey, and, in wintertime, migrating bald eagles. Nearby Lake Greeson and the Little Missouri River add boating, fishing, and picnic spots for day trips.

Southwest Arkansas has a humid subtropical climate with a long camping shoulder from spring through fall. Peak visitor-center hours at White Oak Lake run March through November with daily 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. service, dropping to a limited weekend schedule from December through February.
Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Fall brings cooler nights, hardwood colour, and lower humidity, and is widely considered the best time at White Oak Lake. Spring adds wildflowers and strong bass fishing but also frequent thunderstorms, so campers should check forecasts before heading out.
Summer is hot and humid, with afternoon highs often in the low 90s Fahrenheit. It is also when the seasonal Diamond Springs Water Park at Crater of Diamonds is open, a place to cool off after a summer day of digging. Winter is the quietest season: the Crater of Diamonds campground is open all year, sites are easier to book, and eagle-watching peaks around White Oak Lake.
How to book near Prescott
Arkansas State Parks handles reservations for White Oak Lake and Crater of Diamonds through a single online reservation system, with phone booking also available through each park office. Reservations open up to five months in advance through the Arkansas State Parks reservation system. A non-refundable reservation deposit equal to the first night's non-discounted rate plus tax is charged, cancellations forfeit that deposit, and campsites are limited to fourteen rental nights within any thirty-day period.
Private parks near Murfreesboro, including Miners Camping and Rock Shop, Murfeesboro RV Park, and Castle Keepers RV Resort, are booked directly with the operator by phone or through their own websites. Inventory is small at these properties, so weekends around holidays and school breaks fill early. Book several weeks ahead for a peak-season RV site.
What to expect at Prescott campgrounds

arkansasstateparks.com/parks/white-oak-lake-state-parkWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Prescott?
Prescott shines in spring and fall. April through early June brings blooming dogwoods, comfortable 65 to 82°F days, and lively wildflowers across Nevada County. September through early November is equally beautiful, with crisp mornings, fall color through the Ouachitas, and far fewer bugs. Summers (June to August) are hot and humid, often 90 to 95°F with thunderstorms, but lake-based RV camping Prescott trips to White Oak Lake or DeGray make the heat easy. Winters are mild (45 to 60°F daytime), making December to February surprisingly pleasant for budget travelers. Pro tip: mid-October is the local sweet spot, the Nevada County Fair excitement has passed, the heat has broken, and campgrounds have wide-open availability.
weather.gov/lzk/I've never driven an RV before, will I be okay?
Yes, you'll do great, and you're far from alone. First time renting an RV is the most common scenario on RVezy, and Prescott is actually one of the easier places to start: flat-to-rolling terrain, wide rural roads, and an uncongested stretch of I-30 give you room to get comfortable. Your host provides a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering driving tips, leveling, hookups, the propane system, and the dump process; you can ask anything before you pull away. Many guests start with a smaller travel trailer or Class C motorhome for confidence. Pro tip: plan your first leg short, head straight to White Oak Lake State Park (just 25 minutes from Prescott) and settle in before tackling longer routes.
ardot.gov/divisions/maintenance/highway-information/What if something goes wrong with the RV on my trip?
Help is one phone call away. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so you are covered for situations like flat tires, lockouts, dead batteries, fuel delivery, and towing. Your host is also reachable directly through the RVezy app for quick questions about how a system works, and RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after every trip. Prescott is conveniently located right on I-30 with multiple service options nearby in Hope and Arkadelphia. Pro tip: snap a quick photo of the RV's VIN and the roadside-assistance number at pickup, you will have everything you need on your phone if you ever need to call.

Sitting right on I-30, you are perfectly positioned to head to Texas (Dallas is about 3 hours west), Louisiana (Shreveport is about 90 minutes south), Oklahoma (Broken Bow Lake is about 2 hours away), and across Arkansas to Memphis or the Ozarks. Most hosts allow travel throughout the continental US, just confirm your route in the booking message thread so they can note it. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because the protection plan does not extend there. Pro tip: a popular RV road trip from Prescott loops north to Hot Springs National Park, east to Little Rock, and back via Arkadelphia, about 250 miles of easy driving and great campgrounds along the way.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on my Prescott RV trip?
Fuel is very manageable in this part of Arkansas. Gas prices in Prescott and along I-30 typically run a bit below the national average, often 20 to 40 cents cheaper than nearby metro areas. For budgeting, plan on 8 to 10 MPG for a Class C motorhome, 10 to 14 MPG for a campervan rental Prescott option (Class B), and 12 to 18 MPG for a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer. A 200-mile weekend loop in a Class C will typically run $60 to $90 in fuel. Fill up in Prescott or Hope where prices are lowest, and avoid topping off at highway-exit truck stops if you have flexibility. Pro tip: drive 60 to 62 mph on I-30, your MPG will jump noticeably.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book campgrounds near Prescott?
You have flexibility, but earlier is better for the prime spots. Arkansas State Parks (including White Oak Lake, DeGray Lake, and Daisy) open reservations 13 months in advance through arkansasstateparks.com, and summer weekends, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day typically sell out 2 to 3 months ahead. Private parks off I-30 often have same-week availability. For peak fall color in October, book 4 to 6 weeks out. Spring weekdays and winter stays are usually wide-open even a few days before arrival. Pro tip: if your dates are firm, reserve the campground before you finalize your RVezy booking, hosts are flexible on pickup times once they know your itinerary.

Driving around Prescott is genuinely RV-friendly. You'll have I-30 running right through town with wide lanes and gentle grades, plus quiet US-371 and Highway 67 for scenic backroad travel. Terrain is gently rolling, no mountain passes or tight switchbacks like you'd find in the Ozarks or Ouachitas. Spring (March to May) can bring strong thunderstorms and occasional severe weather, so check the National Weather Service Little Rock forecast before long drives. Summer afternoon storms usually pass quickly. Winter ice events are rare but do happen 1 to 2 times per season. Pro tip: avoid driving I-30 between 4 and 6 PM on Fridays when weekend traffic from Little Rock to Texarkana picks up, mornings are wide open and easy.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Prescott%2C%20ArkansasHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure. RVezy processes everything through the platform with a credit or debit card, so you never hand cash to your host. At booking, you pay the trip total (rental, fees, and your chosen protection plan). A refundable security deposit is held on your card before pickup and released after the trip once the host confirms the RV came back in good shape, typically within a few days. Avoid issues by snapping photos of the RV inside and out at pickup and dropoff, returning with the agreed fuel and propane levels, and emptying tanks if your host requires it. Pro tip: ask your host upfront about the dump-station policy, many in Prescott include tank emptying for a small flat fee.
