Campgrounds and RV parks near Wrightsville, AR

Pinnacle Mountain State Park, a 2,356-acre park in Pulaski County just outside Little Rock, centers on Pinnacle Mountain and the bottomlands of the Big Maumelle and Little Maumelle rivers. The day-use park offers outdoor adventures on the Maumelle and Little Maumelle Rivers, in the Arkansas Arboretum, and along over 33 miles of trails including 18.95 miles of mountain bike trails. Summit hikes, paddling, and interpretive programs are all popular day trips from a Wrightsville-area basecamp. In Little Rock proper, families can visit the River Market district, the Clinton Presidential Library, the Little Rock Zoo, and the Big Dam Bridge, a pedestrian and cycling span linking Arkansas River Trail segments on both banks. Anglers based at riverside campgrounds can target crappie, bream, hybrid bass, and white bass along the Arkansas River, and wintering eagles migrating from Canada and the Great Lakes region can be seen in large numbers along the river.

Central Arkansas has a humid subtropical climate, so the shoulder seasons drive most RV traffic. Little Rock has hot, usually humid summers, and winters that are short and cool but with marked temperature variations, as the area sees alternating incursions of warm Gulf air and cold Canadian air. Spring and fall bring the most comfortable camping temperatures, along with the region's wildflower and foliage windows. Rain is a real planning factor. The area sees a prolonged spring wet season with heavy rainfall possible from March to May, and a secondary wet season peaking in November and December. August is the driest month on average, while November tends to be the wettest. Thunderstorms can occur any month but are especially frequent and severe in spring, when torrential rainfall, damaging winds, hail, and tornadoes are all significant threats, with a secondary severe season in late fall. Summer stays are viable with air-conditioned rigs and shaded sites, but river-level sites can flood during heavy rain events, so watching the forecast matters.

Most established campgrounds in the area offer paved or gravel pads, picnic tables, fire rings, and bathhouses with hot showers. At Maumelle Park, Section B holds the riverfront sites where campers watch towboats push barges past Pinnacle Mountain, though these spots book quickly, and Section E offers pine-shaded sites. A few practical notes for RV renters: access roads can become rough during wet weather, some river-level sites flood during heavy rains, the campground puts campers within 20 minutes of Little Rock amenities, and swimming is not permitted in the Arkansas River. Geese inhabit the grounds year-round and can create noise at night that tent campers particularly notice. Cell service is generally reliable near Little Rock, and grocery, fuel, and propane are all available within a short drive of Wrightsville.
