Campgrounds and RV parks near Silver Lakes, CA

Fishing is a low-key draw at Hesperia Lake Park, where the lake is stocked weekly with channel catfish in warm months and rainbow trout in cooler months. No state fishing license is required, but the lake is pay-to-fish and patrons must present identification. Off-road riders head to El Mirage Dry Lake and nearby OHV areas west of Adelanto. Mojave Narrows Regional Park, just south in Victorville, offers two stocked lakes, equestrian trails, and shaded riverside picnicking. Day trips reach Calico Ghost Town near Yermo, Apple Valley's historic Route 66 stops, and the San Bernardino Mountains around Big Bear Lake. Joshua Tree National Park is within reach as a longer day drive.

Silver Lakes sits in a high-desert steppe climate with hot summers, cool to cold winter nights, and very little precipitation. Average annual rainfall in Victorville, the nearest climate station, is approximately 3.9 inches, which means low humidity throughout the year, and the wettest month is December, with an average around 1.5 inches of precipitation. Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons for RV travel, with daytime highs in the 60s to 80s Fahrenheit and dry, sunny conditions. Summer brings sustained heat. Victorville reaches its average highest temperatures in July, measuring about 92°F at the peak, with triple-digit days common, so shaded sites, full hookups for air conditioning, and early-morning activity are important. Winters are generally mild and can sometimes bring light snow, while temperatures can range from below freezing in winter to 110 in the summer. Wind events are common year-round on open desert flats, and afternoon gusts can affect awnings and high-profile rigs. Most parks in this corridor stay open year-round, including Hesperia Lake Park, though stocking schedules shift seasonally.

Expect functional desert RV parks rather than resort-style amenities. Desert Willow RV Resort features 174 spaces ranging from 50 to 97 feet, each with 30 and 50 amp power, water, and sewer, and other area parks generally offer full hookups, pull-throughs, laundry, showers, and a dump station. Shade is limited and inconsistent, so awnings and reflective window covers help in summer. At Hesperia Lake Park, RV sites accommodate vehicles up to 40 feet, electricity and water are available at selected sites, restrooms and showers are available at no extra charge, and potable water is located throughout the campground; however, there is no dump station on site. Cell coverage from major carriers is generally reliable across the Victor Valley. Quiet time in the campground at Hesperia Lake is between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., and campfires are not allowed outside the fire rings provided and gathering firewood is not allowed.
