Camping near Spring Valley Lake
Spring Valley Lake is a residential community next to Victorville, California, on the high desert plateau of the Mojave at roughly 2,875 feet of elevation. The surrounding area sits north of Los Angeles in a high desert with mild, relatively wet winters and very hot, sunny summers, which shapes the camping calendar in every direction from town.
RV travelers use Spring Valley Lake as a base for both desert and mountain trips. Hesperia Lake Park sits a short drive south and offers sites for RVs and tent campers, with picnic tables and fire rings at every site, RV spots that accommodate vehicles up to 40 feet, electricity at all sites, and water at most. Desert Willow RV Resort and Adelanto RV Park provide full-hookup, big-rig friendly options closer to the I-15 corridor. Shady Oasis Campground and Lone Wolf Colony round out the nearby choices for travelers who want simpler high-desert sites. Day trips reach Silverwood Lake, the San Bernardino Mountains, and Mojave Narrows along the Mojave River without leaving the region.
Things to do near Spring Valley Lake
Fishing is the most consistent draw at Hesperia Lake Park, where no state fishing license is required but patrons must present identification and the lake is pay-to-fish. The lake is stocked regularly with rainbow trout in the cooler months and channel catfish in the warm months. Families also use the on-site playground and shaded picnic areas.
A short drive west, Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area sits in the San Bernardino National Forest and is built around Cedar Springs Dam, the highest reservoir in the State Water Project, with hiking trails, swimming beaches, and designated areas for boating, waterskiing, and fishing. Mojave Narrows Regional Park adds river-fed lakes, fishing at Horseshoe and Pelican Lakes, an 18-hole disc golf course, equestrian trails, and a splash pad in warmer months. Joshua Tree, Big Bear Lake, and Lake Arrowhead are all within day-trip range.

The high desert around Spring Valley Lake has four distinct seasons, which matters when planning an RV trip. At roughly 2,875 feet of elevation, Victorville sees cool springs and falls, hot and sunny summers, and generally milder winters that can sometimes bring light snow, with temperatures ranging from below freezing on winter nights to around 110 on the hottest summer afternoons. Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for tent campers and for hiking at Mojave Narrows or Silverwood Lake.
Summer is hot but still popular for lake-based trips. Parking is limited at Silverwood Lake in the summertime, and the park may reach full parking capacity as early as 9am on busy weeks, so weekday arrivals help. Winter brings the wettest months and occasional snow at higher elevations, with December the wettest month on average. Hesperia Lake Park is open year-round, and Mojave Narrows operates with Tuesday and Wednesday closures, while mountain sites above the desert floor can see closures or chain controls during winter storms. Wildfire and Public Safety Power Shutoff alerts are a regional concern: carrying a backup power source is a sensible precaution.

Had a great experience! Communication is on point, was always there if we had any questions. The RV has everything you need, nothing but good times
Rogelio P. - Oct 2026
Great communications throughout. The van was in great conditions and was everything we required for our trip. Not a complaint but a recommendation, the van had ample crockery, cups and cutlery but it was all disposable and we prefer to have a more reusable set that is also more solid to use. The starlink and TV setup was great for the kids on the trip and we even watched a few movies on Netflix in some evenings. Other than that a great host and a super van. 10/10 other than the reusable stuff.

Absolutely fantastic RV! Everything was perfect from start to finish. The RV was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and extremely well maintained and it came with everything we needed for a wonderful trip. Juan was amazing to work with, friendly, responsive, and great with communication. The RV was delivered and picked up exactly on time, which made the entire experience incredibly easy and stress free. We couldn’t have asked for a better rental experience. Highly recommend Juan and this RV to anyone looking for a clean, reliable, and hassle-free RV adventure! We would definitely rent from him again!
