Campgrounds and RV parks near Stevenson Ranch, CA

Six Flags Magic Mountain is the headline family attraction, located within minutes of the local RV parks. Water recreation is the next draw: Castaic Lake State Recreation Area has miles of shoreline split between a lower lake for non-power boating and an upper lake for sailing, power boating, water and jet skiing, and fishing for bass, trout, and catfish. Lake Piru supports boating, boat rentals, kayaking, fishing for bass, catfish, and trout, waterskiing, hiking, picnicking, and a 9-hole disc golf course. Hiking and biking trails run through the surrounding hills, and Universal Studios Hollywood, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, and downtown Los Angeles are all reachable as day trips.

The Santa Clarita Valley has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wetter winters. Summer is peak season for the lake parks: weekends at Castaic and Lake Piru fill quickly, and reservations should be made well ahead. Camping is available year-round at Castaic Lake, but the busiest period is summer, when high daytime temperatures make the park especially attractive for cooling off, and warm weather typically extends well into autumn. Spring and fall offer the most comfortable temperatures for hiking and sightseeing, with cooler nights and lighter crowds. Winter brings the bulk of the region's modest rainfall and occasional cold nights, but the private RV parks in Castaic and the San Fernando Valley stay open year-round. Late summer and fall are wildfire season across Southern California, with Santa Ana wind events raising fire danger in the surrounding hills. Confirm operating status before traveling, since area campgrounds have been closed in past fire events, and have a backup site identified during high fire-risk windows.

Castaic-area private parks generally offer full hookups, paved or gravel pads, pools, laundry, and onsite stores, with both short-term overnight sites and longer-term residents on the property. Valencia Travel Village is typical of the larger RV resorts in the valley, hosting a mix of permanent campers and a separate area for travelers. Sites near I-5 are convenient but can carry some freeway noise. Lake Piru is more rustic by comparison. The Olive Grove Campground features established sites with picnic tables, fire rings with grills, and gravel surfaces, plus flush toilets, coin-operated showers, a dump station, and a limited number of full-hookup sites alongside a larger block of electric-only sites. Cell service varies by carrier, so plan for limited connectivity. Alcohol is not permitted at Lake Piru, and generators are restricted to daytime hours.
