Camping near Victorville, California
Victorville sits in the High Desert at roughly 2,800 feet of elevation, on the I-15 corridor between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The Mojave River runs through the area, creating an unusual band of cottonwoods, willows, and small lakes that contrast with the surrounding desert. RV travelers use the town as a base for Mojave Desert exploration, Route 66 stops, and trips into the San Bernardino Mountains and Big Bear, all within a short drive.
Nearby campgrounds range from county-run parks with hookups and tent loops to private RV resorts geared toward longer stays. Mojave Narrows Regional Park, south of Victorville, sits along an old riverbed and offers two stocked lakes, equestrian trails, a disc golf course, a playground, and a splash pad. Closer in, Shady Oasis Campground and Adelanto RV Park serve travelers wanting easy freeway access, while Desert Willow RV Resort, Lone Wolf Colony, and Hesperia Lake Park provide more amenities and a quieter, residential feel.
Things to do around Victorville
Fishing is a centerpiece of the area. Hesperia Lake is a pay-to-fish lake with a five-fish limit, and no state fishing license is required, though identification must be shown. During trout season the lake is stocked weekly with rainbow trout, and catfish stocking runs through the warmer months. Mojave Narrows offers two lakes stocked with trout and catfish, plus a disc golf course, equestrian trails, a playground, climbing rocks, a splash pad, and hiking trails, making it a good fit for families. Route 66 history runs through town: the California Route 66 Museum and Old Town Victorville make for an easy half-day stop. Day trips reach Calico Ghost Town to the northeast, Big Bear Lake to the south via the mountains, and the western edge of Joshua Tree to the southeast.

Victorville has a high-desert climate with hot, dry summers and cool winters. Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons for RV camping, with daytime highs running from the mid-60s into the 80s Fahrenheit and cool nights that suit campfires. April and October are often singled out as the best months to visit.
Summer is intense. Maximum temperatures regularly climb above 100°F, though the air stays dry. Shade is limited at most desert sites, and afternoon thunderstorms occasionally roll off the mountains in July and August. Plan early-morning hikes and bring extra water.
Winter brings cold nights and the chance of frost or light snow. Mild afternoons with highs near 60°F alternate with cold spells, and on the coldest nights temperatures can drop a few degrees below freezing. Light snowfall is possible but usually brief. Wind across the open desert is common year-round, so awnings and slide toppers need attention.

Had a great experience! Communication is on point, was always there if we had any questions. The RV has everything you need, nothing but good times
Rogelio P. - Oct 2026
Great communications throughout. The van was in great conditions and was everything we required for our trip. Not a complaint but a recommendation, the van had ample crockery, cups and cutlery but it was all disposable and we prefer to have a more reusable set that is also more solid to use. The starlink and TV setup was great for the kids on the trip and we even watched a few movies on Netflix in some evenings. Other than that a great host and a super van. 10/10 other than the reusable stuff.

Absolutely fantastic RV! Everything was perfect from start to finish. The RV was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and extremely well maintained and it came with everything we needed for a wonderful trip. Juan was amazing to work with, friendly, responsive, and great with communication. The RV was delivered and picked up exactly on time, which made the entire experience incredibly easy and stress free. We couldn’t have asked for a better rental experience. Highly recommend Juan and this RV to anyone looking for a clean, reliable, and hassle-free RV adventure! We would definitely rent from him again!
