Campgrounds and RV parks near West Hollywood, CA

Stays at urban RV parks like Hollywood RV Park and Walnut RV Park put guests within short drives of the Walk of Fame, Griffith Observatory, the Getty Center, Universal Studios, and Santa Monica Pier. Arbor Mobile Village and Rosewood Mobile Home and RV Park offer similar access to museums, beaches, and theme parks for families based in an RV. From Malibu Creek State Park - Family Camp, the draw shifts outdoors. Trails inside the park lead to the former M*A*S*H filming site, Century Lake, and the Rock Pool, with over 15 miles of paths through oak and sycamore woodlands. The park covers more than 8,000 acres and connects to the broader Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. Nearby Pacific Coast Highway beaches at Point Dume, Zuma, and Leo Carrillo are a short drive south through Malibu Canyon, with tide pools at Leo Carrillo when conditions allow.

The Los Angeles basin and Santa Monica Mountains follow a Mediterranean cycle: a wet, mild winter, a dry warm summer, and long shoulder seasons. Most rainfall arrives between November and March, while May through October is essentially dry. Urban RV parks operate year-round, but Malibu Creek State Park bookings shift sharply with the calendar. Late spring and early fall offer the best balance of warm days, cool nights, and open trails. Summer is hot and many sites have little or no shade, which can be difficult during the hottest months. Even in the shoulder seasons, mountain nights cool quickly, so warmer layers are wise into May. Fire risk is the other seasonal driver. Late summer and fall bring Santa Ana wind events and Red Flag Warnings across the Santa Monica Mountains. No fires are allowed during Red Flag Warnings, and wood fires are typically restricted to days rated low on the local fire-safety scale. Winter storms can close access roads and trails briefly, but campsites generally remain open year-round.

Urban RV parks near West Hollywood are compact, paved properties with full hookups, laundry, and a city-noise backdrop. Expect tight maneuvering and minimal greenery in exchange for proximity to attractions. Malibu Creek delivers the opposite experience. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table, with shared flush toilets and showers nearby. There are no hookups for RVs, but a dump station is available, typically for an additional fee. Sites sit relatively close together on fairly open ground, so noise carries between neighbors. Park gates are open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the 10 p.m. closure affects evening plans. Cell service is fair at best, and poison oak is widespread along trails.
