Campgrounds and RV parks near Belleair Beach, FL

Beach days dominate the trip. Sand Key Park, Belleair Beach itself, and Indian Rocks Beach sit within a few minutes of the campgrounds and offer calm Gulf swimming, shelling, and sunset watching. Clearwater Marine Aquarium and Pier 60 in Clearwater Beach are popular family stops. The Pinellas Trail, a paved rails-to-trails route running the length of the county, passes near several of the RV parks and links Tarpon Springs, Dunedin, and St. Petersburg by bike. Caladesi and Honeymoon Island state parks are a short drive north for paddling, hiking, and wildlife viewing. At Fort De Soto Park, kayakers, anglers, and cyclists find protected waters, a 2.25-mile paddle trail, two fishing piers, and a dedicated dog beach.

Winter and early spring are the busiest RV months. Cool, dry weather draws seasonal residents from November through April, and many private parks near Belleair Beach fill months in advance. Overnight lows sit in the mid-50s Fahrenheit, days are typically sunny, and mosquitoes and humidity are at their lowest. Book early for January through March stays. Late spring and early summer bring warmer, humid days with reliable afternoon thunderstorms. Availability improves and beach water temperatures climb into the low 80s. Summer and early fall are the wettest months and coincide with Atlantic hurricane season, which peaks from August through October. Fort De Soto Park has previously closed for extended repairs after major storms, including after Hurricane Milton, so travelers should monitor National Hurricane Center advisories and check park status before arrival. Late fall, once storm risk drops, is a favorite window for waterfront camping at Fort De Soto.

Most private parks in the Belleair Beach area are compact, tightly spaced properties with paved or shell pads, 30 and 50 amp service, water, sewer, cable, and Wi-Fi. Several are age-restricted 55-plus communities with clubhouses, shuffleboard, and organized activities aimed at long-stay winter residents. Fort De Soto sites all have water and 30/50 amp electric but no sewer hookups. Sites 1 through 85 fit tents and rigs under 16 feet, while sites 86 through 236 accommodate larger RVs and trailers. Dump stations, a camp store, laundry, and hot showers are on site. Expect strong sun, biting insects in summer, and persistent raccoons at Fort De Soto. The park is cashless outside the laundry, alcohol is prohibited throughout the park, and pets are permitted only in Area 2, sites 86 through 164.
