Campgrounds and RV parks near Bradley Junction, FL

The signature outdoor draw in the area is Alafia River State Park. The park sits on what was once a phosphate mining site, and its unique topography offers some of the most challenging off-road bicycling trails in Florida. A full-service bike shop on-site provides rentals, repairs, and lessons. Beyond biking, visitors can enjoy paddling the South Prong of the Alafia River, hiking, fishing, and wildlife observation. Equestrians and hikers can explore about 20 miles of hilly trails through forests and flatwoods, and the campground has a playground and picnic pavilions useful for family days. Golfers staying at Sanlan RV and Golf Resort or Torrey Oaks RV and Golf Resort have on-property courses. Day-trip range covers Bok Tower Gardens near Lake Wales, Legoland Florida in Winter Haven, and Tampa attractions to the west.

Central Florida's peak RV season runs from late fall through early spring, when temperatures are mild, humidity is lower, and rainfall is limited. The most comfortable months in the Lakeland area are typically January through April and October through December, when temperatures sit between about 72°F and 85°F. Snowbird demand fills private resorts around Lakeland and Bowling Green for weeks or months at a time during this window, so early booking is important. Late spring warms quickly, and by June the wet season begins. August is the wettest month, averaging around 221 mm (8.7 in) of rain over roughly 23 rainy days, while December is the driest, with about 43 mm (1.7 in) over 7 rainy days. Afternoon thunderstorms are near-daily in summer, and heat indexes routinely climb into the upper 90s. Hurricane season officially runs June 1 through November 30, with peak tropical risk from August into October. Travellers in that window should track NOAA National Hurricane Center advisories and confirm cancellation and evacuation policies with each campground.

At Alafia River State Park, expect a rustic state-park experience. The campground has 30 campsites with electric and water hookups along the Alafia River, and each site includes a paved parking spur, picnic table, fire ring, and grill. Clean restrooms feature solar-heated showers, and there are two large picnic pavilions in the campground. A dump station serves the loop rather than individual sewer hookups at each pad. Private resorts in the Lakeland and Bowling Green area lean toward full hookups, paved interior roads, clubhouses, pools, and organized activities aimed at long-stay guests. Cell service is generally reliable across Polk and Hardee counties. Alafia River State Park is accessed via County Road 39 in Hillsborough County, and drivers should follow posted park signs rather than GPS shortcuts, which sometimes route to service gates.
