Campgrounds and RV parks near Butler Beach, FL

The beach itself is the main draw. Butler Beach and the adjacent county-managed beach access points allow swimming, surf fishing, and, in designated zones, driving on the sand. Kayak, canoe, bicycle, and beach-gear rentals are available at Island Joe's camp store inside Anastasia State Park, and Salt Run offers protected paddling water inside the park. St. Augustine is a short drive north and offers the Castillo de San Marcos, the Lightner Museum, and a walkable historic district. Families often pair a park day with the St. Augustine Alligator Farm or the St. Augustine Lighthouse. Anglers can fish the Matanzas River from the Butler Beach boat ramp, and cyclists use the wide shoulders and paved paths along A1A to connect campgrounds with the beach.

Northeast Florida has a long shoulder season, which makes Butler Beach usable year-round for RV travel. Spring, from March through May, brings warm days, lower humidity, and the busiest stretch for snowbirds heading home and families on school break. Reservations for private parks and Anastasia State Park often fill weeks in advance for spring weekends and holidays. Summer is hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms common from June through August. July has the highest average rainfall of the year, near 5.7 inches, and mosquito pressure rises in the maritime hammock sites. Hurricane season officially runs June through November, with peak risk in August, September, and early October, so travelers should monitor National Hurricane Center advisories. Fall cools gradually after mid-October and is a favorite window for RV renters who want beach weather without summer crowds. The park reaches capacity on summer weekends and during the winter snowbird season from November through March, and lifeguards staff the beach only from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Winter is mild, occasionally cool at night, and a night with frosty air can happen anytime from November to March, though it is most common in January.

Most private parks in the Butler Beach area offer full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service, paved or hard-packed sites, and Wi-Fi that varies in reliability. Ocean-adjacent parks may have salt exposure, so awnings and slide toppers should be checked regularly. Anastasia State Park sites all have electricity and water, a picnic table, an in-ground grill, and a fire ring, with a communal dump station free for park campers. Maximum RV length in the park is 38 feet, and sites are shaded by live oak and palmetto with some tight approaches for larger rigs. Cell coverage is generally strong on Anastasia Island across major carriers. Grocery, propane, and dump services are available within a short drive on A1A and US-1, and the nearest large-format stores are in St. Augustine.
