All good nice setup support person

Safraz K. - Jul 2024

Everything worked perfectly! Moises is a great host, he responded to all my questions and calls and even provided his personal camping app, which is a great find if you are into off grid cool safe camping spots to discover. It's not fancy on the outside, but the price is good and all the features are functional.

Excellent Campervan Experience We recently rented a campervan to travel to Savannah and Northern Georgia. We had a great time, thanks to the excellent orientation provided by Morgan. We truly had everything we needed, from a French Press to start our days out right to a comfy bed that accommodated two adults comfortably. It was an amazing experience, with all the comforts of home while still being able to connect with nature. Morgan was a phenomenal host and we can't recommend him highly enough!

What license do I need to rent an RV in Dover, Florida?

Great news for first-timers: a regular Class E Florida driver's license (or your home state or country equivalent) is all you need to rent an RV in Dover, FL, even for the largest Class A motorhomes on the platform. Florida does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) for non-commercial RVs, which covers essentially every rental you will see on RVezy. Approved drivers must generally be 25 or older to book, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform during checkout, so there is no extra paperwork on pickup day. Visiting from abroad? Pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country's auto club before flying in. That is it, you are ready to roll.

What if I need to cancel my Dover RV rental?

Plans change, and booking your Dover RV trip is low-risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every booking (not the individual host), and a money-back grace period right after you book lets you lock in your dates without pressure. If a hurricane or named tropical storm threatens the Tampa Bay area during the June through November season, RVezy has specific protocols to help you reschedule or cancel. The exact refund terms depend on how far out your trip is, so review the cancellation details at checkout. The takeaway: you can book your motorhome rental in Dover today and still have flexibility if life gets in the way.

Can I bring my dog on a Dover RV rental?

Absolutely, Dover is wonderfully dog-friendly. Plenty of hosts on RVezy offer pet-friendly RV rental in Dover, and you can find them in seconds using the Pet-Friendly filter when you search. Once you land, your pup will love the wide-open trails at Alafia River State Park (leashed dogs welcome on hiking and equestrian trails) and the dog park inside Edward Medard Conservation Park just south of Dover. Tampa East RV Resort right on McIntosh Road also welcomes pets and even has a dedicated dog park on site. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee or breed notes, and pack a collapsible water bowl since Florida humidity makes hydration essential, even on short walks.

Can the RV be delivered to me in Dover?

Yes, and it's the easiest way to start your trip. Many RVezy hosts offer RV delivery in Dover and throughout the Tampa Bay area, meaning the host drives the RV to your campground, vacation rental, or even Tampa International Airport (TPA), levels it, hooks up power and water, and walks you through every system before handing you the keys. This is a game-changer for anyone first time renting an RV or flying in from out of state. Popular drop-off spots include Lazydays RV Resort in Seffner, Hillsborough River State Park, and Fort De Soto Park near St. Petersburg. Filter by 'Delivery' on the search page and message the host to confirm the delivery fee and radius. Easy.

How does mileage work on a Dover RV rental, and how far can I drive?

Mileage is simple, and Dover's central Florida location means you can reach the state's biggest hits without burning through a huge allowance. Each host sets a daily mileage allowance (commonly 100 to 150 free miles per day) with a small per-mile fee beyond that, and some hosts even offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, just filter for it or message to ask. To put it in perspective from Dover: Tampa is 20 miles, Clearwater Beach 45 miles, Walt Disney World in Orlando 65 miles, Sarasota 60 miles, and the Kennedy Space Center about 130 miles. Planning a bigger loop? Tell your host your itinerary up front, many will bundle extra miles into your booking for a better rate.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Dover?

Mid-October through late April is prime time for RV camping Dover travelers love. Daytime highs sit in the comfortable 70s to low 80s, humidity drops, mosquitoes ease up, and rain is much less frequent than in the summer wet season. January is the coolest month with average highs around 69°F and lows around 52°F, perfect sleeping weather inside an RV. Summer (June through September) brings highs near 90°F, daily afternoon thunderstorms, and hurricane season, doable with AC and shore power, but plan your driving for mornings. Insider tip: visit in early March to catch the Florida Strawberry Festival in nearby Plant City, the area's signature event, and pair it with a stop at Parkesdale Farm Market for a legendary strawberry shortcake.

I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay?

You'll do great, and Dover is one of the friendlier places in Florida to learn. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering driving, leveling, hookups, slide-outs, and dumping tanks, so you're never left guessing. Dover sits in flat, rural strawberry country with wide county roads (McIntosh, Sydney, and Turkey Creek) that are perfect for getting comfortable before merging onto I-4 or I-75. Nervous about Tampa traffic? Use the Delivery filter and skip city driving entirely. Most first-time renters tell us by day two they feel completely at home behind the wheel. Pro tip: practice a few right turns and a parking-lot back-up in a quiet spot like the Brandon Westfield lot on a Sunday morning, you'll build confidence fast.

What happens if I have a breakdown or issue on the road?

You are never on your own. Every RV rental in Dover, FL on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, towing, and mechanical breakdowns. One call connects you with help whether you are stuck on I-75, parked at Fort De Soto, or boondocking in the Ocala National Forest. Your host is also a direct text or call away for quick questions like how to reset the inverter, and RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number to your phone before you leave Dover, and snap a quick photo of your VIN sticker so you can share it instantly if you need service.

Can I take my Dover RV rental across state lines or into Canada or Mexico?

Yes to other states, and a Dover launch point opens up the whole Southeast. From Dover you can comfortably road-trip an RV to the Florida Keys (about 320 miles south), the Smoky Mountains around Gatlinburg (about 730 miles north), Savannah, Georgia (about 380 miles), or New Orleans (about 670 miles). Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and the protection plan attached to the booking, so message the host directly before booking if Canada is part of your plan. Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because protection coverage does not extend across the southern border. Pro tip: for an RV road trip from Dover, Highway 19 up the Nature Coast to Cedar Key is a stunning, less-traveled alternative to I-75.

What should I budget for fuel on a Dover RV trip?

Fuel is one of the bigger trip costs, and Dover's central location actually keeps it manageable. Expect roughly 7 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG) for a Class A motorhome, 10 to 14 MPG for a Class C, 14 to 20 MPG for a Class B campervan, and 12 to 18 MPG for your tow vehicle if you're pulling a travel trailer. Florida gas prices typically run a bit below the national average, with regular unleaded recently hovering around $3.10 to $3.40 per gallon in the Tampa Bay area. Diesel sits roughly $0.50 higher. Pro tip: fill up at the Wawa or Buc-ee's off I-4 exit 19 in Plant City just minutes from Dover, prices are usually 10 to 20 cents cheaper than stations closer to the beaches.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Dover?

Book early and you'll have your pick. Florida State Parks like Hillsborough River and Alafia River open reservations 11 months in advance through ReserveAmerica, and waterfront or hookup sites for winter weekends genuinely sell out the day they open. Private parks like Lazydays RV Resort and Tampa East are easier, 1 to 3 months out is usually fine outside of major events. For the Florida Strawberry Festival (early March) or Gasparilla in Tampa (late January), lock in your spot 6 months ahead. Pro tip: if a state park shows fully booked, check daily around 8 a.m., cancellations get released constantly, and you can grab a perfect site near the Hillsborough River suspension bridge just by being patient.

What are the driving conditions like around Dover?

Driving from Dover is easier than most Florida launch points. The town sits on flat, rural terrain just off I-4 between Tampa and Lakeland, with wide county roads and minimal hills, ideal for any size RV. The main things to watch for: heavy afternoon thunderstorms from June through September (pull over and wait them out, they pass in 20 to 30 minutes), occasional fog on cool winter mornings near the strawberry fields, and rush-hour congestion on I-4 westbound into Tampa from 7 to 9 a.m. The Selmon Expressway (toll) has a posted height limit of 10 feet 6 inches on certain elevated reversible lanes, so taller rigs should stick to I-4 or I-75. Pro tip: use SunPass-compatible toll transponders, many hosts include one.

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Dover?

You'll be impressed. Most campgrounds near Dover offer full hookups (water, sewer, and 30/50-amp electric), clean bathhouses, laundry, and Wi-Fi. Hillsborough River State Park has a swimming pool, canoe rentals, a camp store, and a dump station for non-hookup sites. Lazydays RV Resort offers concrete pads, pickleball, a dog park, and an on-site Camping World for any forgotten supplies. Tampa East has heated pools, shuffleboard, and a stocked fishing pond. Need to dump tanks or fill fresh water mid-trip? The Flying J at I-4 exit 17 in Plant City has a public dump station and potable water fill just minutes from Dover. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking-water-safe hose and a 90-degree elbow, Florida hookups are often tucked at awkward angles.

What's included inside a typical RV rental from Dover?

More than you'd expect. A typical campervan rental Dover guests pick up includes a queen or convertible bed, a kitchenette with fridge, stove, and sink, a wet bath, and air conditioning, essential in Florida. Class C and Class A motorhomes usually sleep 4 to 8, with a full bathroom, separate sleeping areas, a TV, a generator for off-grid use, and seatbelted seating for travel. Most hosts include pots, pans, dishes, basic linens, and outdoor camp chairs. Wi-Fi varies (cell hotspots are common, but Verizon and T-Mobile both have strong coverage across Hillsborough County). Pro tip: confirm whether your host provides bedding and towels, some offer them free, others charge a small fee, and you can ask via the listing message thread before booking.

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

Hosts make it easy to customize your trip. Common add-ons for an RV rental Florida travelers love include generator hours, propane refills, kitchen kits, bedding bundles, outdoor mats, bike racks, kayaks, and pet cleaning fees. Delivery and setup is the most popular add-on around Dover, hosts will drop the rig at your campground, vacation home, or Tampa International Airport (TPA) for a per-mile fee, typically $2 to $4. Pickup is usually at the host's property in or near Dover, with a 30 to 60 minute orientation walkthrough. Mileage policies vary by host (100 to 150 free miles per day is common, with some offering unlimited). Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a propane fill, you'll arrive to a fully ready RV and skip your first stressful gas-station stop.

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment is straightforward and secure. You pay the full booking amount through RVezy at checkout using a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, which protects both sides. A refundable security deposit is held separately as an authorization on your card (commonly $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV class) shortly before pickup, and it is released after the host confirms the RV came back in good condition. To avoid any deposit issues on your family RV trip in Dover, do a quick walkaround video at pickup and drop-off, return with the same fuel and propane levels, and dump tanks if your host requires it (many include this in a small flat fee instead). Transparent, no surprises.

How do I handle Florida's summer heat and hurricane season in an RV?

With a little planning, summer in Dover is genuinely fun, the beaches, springs, and theme parks are all within reach. RVs rented in Florida come with strong air conditioning designed for the heat, and most campgrounds offer 50-amp service so you can run AC plus the fridge without tripping breakers. Drive in the cooler morning hours, park in shaded sites (Hillsborough River State Park is famous for its oak canopy), and keep window shades drawn during peak sun. Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, peaking in August and September. Watch the National Hurricane Center forecasts, and if a named storm tracks toward Tampa Bay, RVezy has cancellation protocols to help you adjust. Pro tip: a quick day trip to Weeki Wachee Springs (about 60 miles north) drops your body temp 20 degrees in five minutes.
