Campgrounds near Eastpoint
Eastpoint sits on Florida's Forgotten Coast along U.S. 98, directly across the bay from St. George Island and a short drive west to Apalachicola. The area is oriented around Apalachicola Bay's oyster industry, quiet Gulf beaches, and the pine flatwoods and floodplain forests of the Apalachicola River corridor. RV travelers use Eastpoint as a base for beach days on the barrier island and for fishing the bay and river system.
Options range from full-hookup resorts to state-managed beachfront sites and primitive backcountry camping. Coastline RV Resort and Sunset Isle RV and Yacht Club Resort offer full-service sites in the Eastpoint and Carrabelle area. Carrabelle Beach RV Resort is a short drive east on Highway 98 and sits directly across the road from the beach. St George Island State Park lies about ten miles south of Eastpoint across the causeway and offers water and electric sites when open.
For a rustic option, the Apalachicola River Wildlife and Environmental Area - Sauls Creek provides primitive camping inside a state-managed floodplain forest, best suited to self-contained rigs.
Things to do near Eastpoint
Beach time dominates the trip list. St George Island State Park has miles of undeveloped white sand, swimming areas, bay-side kayak launches, and nature trails through pine scrub. The park is popular for shelling, dolphin watching, and stargazing due to low light pollution, and nearly 300 bird species have been recorded there.
Fishing is a core activity, from the bay bridges for redfish and speckled trout to offshore charters out of Carrabelle. Paddlers use the bay side of St George Island and the extensive paddling trail system in the Apalachicola River WEA, which totals nearly 100 miles of routes.
Apalachicola, about nine miles west, offers a working waterfront, seafood restaurants, historic downtown, and the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve visitor center. Families with older kids can tour the Crooked River Lighthouse in Carrabelle.

Spring and fall are the strongest RV windows. March through May brings warm days, lower humidity, and the year's lowest rainfall, with May typically the driest month. Snowbird traffic tapers off after March, so private resorts have more openings while state park sites, when available, remain competitive.
Summer runs hot and humid. Afternoon thunderstorms are near-daily from June through August, and August is the wettest month, with heavy rain days on more than three weeks of the month on average. Mosquitoes and biting flies peak in this window, particularly at bay-side and forest sites. Hurricane season runs June through November, with peak risk in August and September; parks in the area, including St George Island State Park, have been closed for extended periods after past storms.
Winter is mild and popular with snowbirds. Sites fill for weeks or months at a time, and reservation lead times run long. Note that St George Island State Park's campground is currently closed for a major expansion project that will add sites and a new bathhouse; check the Florida State Parks site before planning around it.
How to book
St George Island State Park is reserved through the Florida State Parks reservation system. Bookings open up to eleven months in advance, and the 60 water and electric sites fill quickly, especially for weekends and holidays. Reservations can be made online or by phone at 800-326-3521. Confirm current status before booking, as the campground has been closed for an expansion project and reservations have been suspended while construction is underway.
Private resorts including Coastline RV Resort, Carrabelle Beach RV Resort, and Sunset Isle RV and Yacht Club Resort take direct bookings through their websites or by phone, and several also list on third-party platforms.
Primitive camping in the Apalachicola River Wildlife and Environmental Area, including the Sauls Creek area, is managed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and requires a camping permit; consult the FWC regulations brochure for the WEA before you go.
What to expect
Sites at St George Island State Park include water and electric hookups but no sewer, with a dump station on site. The campground accommodates rigs up to 43 feet, and each site has 50, 30, and 20 amp service. Cell coverage is spotty inside the park; AT&T and Verizon can be weak at some sites, and Starlink is often obstructed by tree cover.
Private resorts along the Highway 98 corridor are largely full-hookup with 30 and 50 amp service, cable, and Wi-Fi. Coastline RV Resort has pools, a clubhouse, laundry, a fishing pier, and pickleball, and accommodates rigs to about 45 feet.
Bring aggressive bug spray from late spring through fall. Grocery selection on St George Island is limited to small stores; larger runs are done in Apalachicola or Eastpoint. Expect coastal humidity, sandy sites, and strong sun exposure at beachfront resorts.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Eastpoint, FL
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Eastpoint, FL?
Good news: an RV rental in Eastpoint is one of the most affordable ways to experience Florida's Forgotten Coast. On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $90 to $140 per night, Class C motorhomes run roughly $175 to $275, and luxury Class A rigs go higher. Because Eastpoint sits between Apalachicola and Carrabelle, you can often score lower nightly rates than you'd find in Destin or Panama City Beach for similar Gulf access. To save even more, book midweek, travel in the shoulder months of late April or October, and use the price filter to sort by budget. Pro tip: bundling a delivery option from a local host can be cheaper than fueling a big rig yourself for a short stay.
visitflorida.com/places-to-go/northwest/What license do I need to rent an RV in Eastpoint, FL?
Great news for first-timers: a regular Class E Florida driver's license (or any standard state or country equivalent) is all you need to rent an RV in Eastpoint. Florida does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement for motorhomes or travel trailers used recreationally, no matter the size. You must be at least 25 years old to book on RVezy, and ID verification happens securely through the platform during checkout. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home country's license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP), usually under $20 from your local auto club. Most renters are surprised how simple the paperwork really is.
flhsmv.gov/driver-licenses-id-cards/what-to-bring/us-citizens/Is my Eastpoint RV rental protected if something goes wrong?
Yes, every RV rental in Eastpoint booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can explore the Forgotten Coast with peace of mind. During checkout you choose your protection level, and the plan helps cover accidental damage to the RV while you are driving the Coastal Highway or parked at St. George Island. Coverage details, limits, and deductibles are clearly shown before you book. If something happens, from a flat tire on US-98 to a minor mishap at the campground, RVezy support is one phone call away day or night. Book your Eastpoint RV trip with confidence and focus on the sunsets over Apalachicola Bay.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat is the cancellation policy if my Eastpoint trip plans change?
You can book your Eastpoint RV trip with confidence because RVezy sets the cancellation policy across every listing, not individual hosts. There is a money-back grace period right after booking, and additional refund eligibility depends on how far out from your trip start date you cancel. If a host cancels, RVezy refunds the guest or provides travel credits. Full details are available on the RVezy Help Center, and customer support can walk you through your options if a storm or other covered event affects your plans. The takeaway: locking in your dates is low-risk, so go ahead and grab that prime weekend before someone else does.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Eastpoint?
Yes, dogs are very welcome on the Forgotten Coast, and finding a pet-friendly RV rental in Eastpoint is easy on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on the search page to see hosts who welcome four-legged guests (some charge a small pet cleaning fee, which is shown upfront). Once you arrive, your pup will love that St. George Island allows leashed dogs on parts of the beach outside the state park, and several local RV parks in Eastpoint have pet areas. The Apalachicola Riverfront is a great leashed-dog stroll. Pro tip: pack a freshwater rinse bottle, since Gulf sand and salt are tough on paws.
floridastateparks.org/learn/pets-florida-state-parksCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Eastpoint?
Yes, RV delivery in Eastpoint is one of the smartest ways to enjoy a stress-free trip, especially if it is your first time renting an RV. Many RVezy hosts will tow or drive the rig directly to local spots like Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park, a private RV park, or a vacation rental, then level it, connect water, power, and sewer where available, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Use the Delivery filter when searching, and check each listing's delivery radius and fee. This is a game-changer if you are flying into Tallahassee International Airport (about 80 miles north) and do not want to drive a big rig down US-98. Show up, unpack, and start fishing.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsHow far can I drive on a typical Eastpoint RV rental?
You'll have plenty of room to roam from Eastpoint, which sits at the heart of Florida's Forgotten Coast and within easy driving distance of major panhandle destinations. Most RVezy hosts include a daily mileage allowance (commonly 100 to 150 miles per day) with reasonable per-mile fees beyond that, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer road trips. From Eastpoint, popular drives include St. George Island (about 10 miles), Apalachicola (6 miles), Panama City Beach (about 75 miles), Tallahassee (about 80 miles), and Pensacola (about 215 miles). Each listing clearly displays the mileage policy before you book, so there are no surprises. Pro tip: if you're planning a longer RV road trip from Eastpoint to Destin or New Orleans, message the host first to negotiate a mileage package.
fdot.gov/Where are the best campgrounds near Eastpoint, FL?
Eastpoint is surrounded by some of the best campgrounds in the Florida panhandle. Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park, just across the bridge about 10 miles south, offers around 60 water-and-electric sites tucked among the dunes with walk-on Gulf beach access. Several private RV parks along US-98 in Eastpoint and nearby Carrabelle provide full-hookup sites with bay or Gulf views, pools, and laundry. Ho-Hum RV Park in Carrabelle is a favorite for quiet waterfront sites. For a more rugged RV camping experience near Eastpoint, Tate's Hell State Forest just north of town has primitive sites across roughly 200,000 acres. Book St. George Island 11 months ahead through the Florida State Parks reservation system, it goes fast.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/dr-julian-g-bruce-st-george-island-state-parkWhen is the best time to visit Eastpoint for an RV trip?
The sweet spot for an Eastpoint RV trip is mid-March through May and again from mid-September through November, when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 70s to low 80s F and Gulf humidity backs off. Winter (December to February) is genuinely mild here with highs around 60 to 65 F and lows in the upper 40s, making it a fantastic snowbird escape compared to the rest of the country. Summer (June through August) brings hot 87 to 90 F days, high humidity, daily afternoon thunderstorms, and Atlantic hurricane season activity, though it's also peak beach time. Insider tip: visit during the Florida Seafood Festival in early November in Apalachicola, fresh oysters and live music make it unforgettable.
weather.gov/tae/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in Eastpoint?
You'll do great, Eastpoint is actually one of the easier places in Florida to learn the ropes. US-98 is a flat, mostly two-lane coastal highway with light traffic outside of summer weekends, and the Bryant Patton Bridge over to St. George Island is wide and gentle. Every RVezy host provides a full orientation at pickup, walking you through driving tips, leveling, slide-outs, generator use, and the dump valves before you ever turn the key. You can also message your host anytime during your trip. If you're nervous about driving, simply book a host who offers delivery and setup so the rig is already parked when you arrive. First time renting an RV often goes smoother than people expect.
flhsmv.gov/safety-center/What happens if I have a breakdown during my Eastpoint RV trip?
You're fully covered, every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection package, so help is just a phone call away whether you're stranded on US-98, parked at St. George Island, or exploring Tate's Hell State Forest. The service handles common issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing to the nearest qualified service center. Cell coverage is solid in Eastpoint, Apalachicola, and Carrabelle, though it can get spotty in remote forest areas, so save the RVezy support number offline before heading out. Your host is also reachable by message for quick questions. With backup plans in place, you can relax and enjoy oyster country.
fdot.gov/agencyresources/roadrangersCan I take my Eastpoint RV rental on a longer road trip out of state?
Absolutely, the Forgotten Coast is a fantastic launching pad for a bigger panhandle adventure. From Eastpoint you can easily reach New Orleans, LA (about 380 miles west), Savannah, GA (about 360 miles northeast), or Pensacola Beach (about 215 miles west) for a multi-stop motorhome rental Eastpoint road trip. US travel between states is included by default, just confirm the trip length with your host. Cross-border travel to Canada may be possible with host approval and insurance confirmation, but travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because the protection package does not extend there. Message any host directly from the listing to discuss your itinerary, most are happy to help map it out.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goHow much should I budget for fuel on an Eastpoint RV trip?
Fuel is one of your biggest variables, but easy to plan for. Most Class C motorhomes and travel trailers used for RV camping Eastpoint average 8 to 12 miles per gallon, while smaller Class B campervans can hit 18 to 20 MPG. Florida regular unleaded typically runs slightly below the national average, and you'll find convenient stations along US-98 in Eastpoint and Apalachicola, plus larger truck-friendly stops in Carrabelle and on US-319 toward Tallahassee. For a 4-night, 250-mile loop around the Forgotten Coast, plan roughly $80 to $150 in fuel for a mid-size motorhome. Pro tip: top off in Tallahassee before heading down, prices on the coast can run 10 to 20 cents higher per gallon.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Eastpoint?
Book early, especially for the Gulf-front gems. Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park opens reservations 11 months ahead through the Florida State Parks reservation system, and prime spring and fall weekends sell out within minutes of release. Privately run RV parks in Eastpoint and Carrabelle typically fill 2 to 4 months out for high season. If you are traveling in summer or during the November Florida Seafood Festival in Apalachicola, treat 6 months as the safe minimum. Insider tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday through Thursday) at St. George Island often have last-minute openings even in peak season, so check daily if your dates are flexible.
floridastateparks.org/learn/reservationsWhat are driving conditions like around Eastpoint?
Driving around Eastpoint is refreshingly low-stress compared to most Florida coastal towns. US-98 is the main artery, a flat two-lane highway with a 55 mph limit through town, light traffic outside summer weekends, and easy pull-offs for fuel and groceries. The Bryant Patton Bridge to St. George Island is 4 miles long but wide and well maintained, just watch for crosswinds on breezy days. Avoid driving large rigs through downtown Apalachicola's narrow historic streets, instead use the US-98 bypass and park at the public lot near Riverfront Park. Hurricane season (June through November) can bring sudden heavy rain and reduced visibility, so check NOAA forecasts before heading out. Otherwise, smooth, scenic, and easy.
fl511.com/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Eastpoint?
You'll find a great range of amenities at the best campgrounds near Eastpoint. Full hookup sites with 30/50 amp electric, fresh water, and sewer are standard at Coastline RV Resort, along with two pools, modern bathhouses, laundry, a fishing pier, and an on-site restaurant. St. George Island State Park offers water and electric hookups, a central dump station, hot showers, and direct beach access, but no sewer at the sites. Most parks have potable water fill stations near the entrance and clearly marked dump stations. Cell service is reliable in Eastpoint and on the island, weaker in Tate's Hell State Forest. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a sewer hose support, the slight grade at some sites makes them helpful.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/dr-julian-g-bruce-st-george-island-state-parkWhat's included inside a typical Eastpoint RV rental?
Expect a fully equipped home on wheels. Most RVezy rentals in Eastpoint come with a queen or king bed, a kitchen with a stove, microwave, fridge, sink, and basic cookware, a wet bath or full bathroom with a shower and toilet, air conditioning (essential for Florida summers), a furnace, a dinette, and seat-belted travel seats for everyone in your party. Larger Class C and Class A units often add a TV, outdoor speakers, a generator for off-grid power at the beach, and an awning for shade. Wi-Fi is hit-or-miss depending on the host's hotspot, but cell service in Eastpoint is solid for hotspotting. Each listing's amenities are clearly itemized, so you'll know exactly what's onboard before you book.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicle-safetyWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about for my Eastpoint RV rental?
Hosts offer some genuinely useful add-ons that can elevate your Forgotten Coast trip. Common extras include bedding and linen packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits, beach chairs and umbrellas, kayaks or paddleboards (popular for Apalachicola Bay), portable generators, propane refills, and pre-stocked firewood. Many Eastpoint hosts also offer delivery and setup with a per-mile fee from their home base, often free within 15 miles. Pickup is typically at the host's location with a 30-to-60-minute walkthrough covering driving, leveling, and dump procedures. Mileage policies vary, so look for unlimited-mileage listings if you're planning a campervan rental Eastpoint loop with multiple stops. Pro tip: ask about adding a generator if you want to boondock at Tate's Hell State Forest.
visitflorida.com/places-to-go/northwest/How does payment and the security deposit work for an Eastpoint RV rental?
Payment is straightforward and secure through the RVezy platform, with no cash and no awkward exchanges with the host. You pay your rental total (nightly rate, fees, chosen protection plan, and any add-ons) by credit card at the time of booking. The security deposit is separate from your booking payment and is pre-authorized on your card shortly before pickup, then released after the host confirms the RV was returned in good condition. To avoid any deposit issues, dump and refill tanks per your host's instructions, return the RV with the same fuel level, and take timestamped photos at pickup and dropoff. Easy peace of mind for your Forgotten Coast getaway.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksHow do I handle Florida heat and hurricane season in my Eastpoint RV?
Easy with a little planning, and the rewards (quieter beaches, better rates) are worth it. From June through September, daytime highs in Eastpoint hover in the upper 80s F with high humidity, so run the AC on shore power at the campground and start driving days early in the morning. Pack plenty of water and use awnings for shade. Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, with peak activity in August and September. Watch the National Hurricane Center for any storms entering the Gulf, and contact RVezy support if a named storm threatens your dates. Many travelers prefer April, May, and October for warm Gulf water, lighter crowds, and better RV rental deals in Eastpoint.
