RV camping near Kenneth City, Florida
Kenneth City is a small town in southern Pinellas County, wedged between St. Petersburg and Pinellas Park in the Tampa Bay area. It sits inland from the Gulf beaches but within a short drive of both the barrier islands and downtown St. Pete, which makes it a practical base for RV travelers who want beach days without paying for a beachfront site.
The area around Kenneth City is densely developed, so most RV options are private parks rather than wooded campgrounds. Nearby choices include Roberts Mh and RV Resort, Rainbow Village of Largo, Roycroft RV Park, and Bickley RV Park, which caters to the 55+ crowd. Families looking for pools, cabins, and a full-amenity setup often book the St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA Holiday closer to the coast.
For public-land camping, the closest option is Fort De Soto Park on Mullet Key, run by Pinellas County rather than the Florida State Parks system.
Things to do near Kenneth City
The Gulf beaches are the main draw. St. Pete Beach, Madeira Beach, and Treasure Island are all under thirty minutes by car, and the St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA Holiday puts campers close to the sand. Fort De Soto Park adds swimming beaches, two fishing piers, a dog beach, and paved bike paths across five interconnected keys.
Inland, the Pinellas Trail runs the length of the county and connects parks, downtowns, and coastal areas for cycling and walking. Downtown St. Petersburg has the Museum of Fine Arts, the Dali Museum, and a walkable waterfront. Boyd Hill Nature Preserve on Lake Maggiore offers boardwalk trails and a bird-of-prey aviary, useful on a rainy afternoon.

82° / 68°F 60 mmWarm and dry; spring break weeks book early.
- summer
June - August
91° / 79°F 165 mmHot, humid, daily thunderstorms; mosquitoes heavy.

- winter
December - February
72° / 55°F 60 mmPeak snowbird season; parks fill months out.
Winter is the busy season across Pinellas County. Snowbirds fill the private parks from roughly November through March, and Fort De Soto Campground fills quickly on winter weekends, often within the first hour that dates become bookable. Daytime temperatures are mild and humidity is low, which makes it the most comfortable stretch for RV travel but also the hardest window in which to find a site.
Spring brings warmer water and steady demand through spring break, tapering by late May. Summer is hot and humid with near-daily afternoon thunderstorms and mosquitoes, and hurricane season officially runs June through November, peaking in August and September. Some Gulf-facing parks close or reduce operations during storm threats.
Fall offers cooler evenings, thinner crowds, and better site availability, particularly October and November before the winter rush returns. It is generally considered the sweet spot for weather and booking odds.

Everything worked perfectly! Moises is a great host, he responded to all my questions and calls and even provided his personal camping app, which is a great find if you are into off grid cool safe camping spots to discover. It's not fancy on the outside, but the price is good and all the features are functional.

Excellent Campervan Experience We recently rented a campervan to travel to Savannah and Northern Georgia. We had a great time, thanks to the excellent orientation provided by Morgan. We truly had everything we needed, from a French Press to start our days out right to a comfy bed that accommodated two adults comfortably. It was an amazing experience, with all the comforts of home while still being able to connect with nature. Morgan was a phenomenal host and we can't recommend him highly enough!

How to book a campground near Kenneth City
Private parks around Kenneth City take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Winter months should be booked several months out, and monthly snowbird stays at parks like Bickley RV Park, Roberts Mh and RV Resort, and Rainbow Village of Largo are often locked in a season in advance.
Fort De Soto Park is managed by Pinellas County Parks and Conservation Resources, not Florida State Parks. Non-residents can reserve up to six months in advance through the Pinellas County reservation system, while Pinellas County residents get a seven-month window with proof of residency. Popular winter and holiday weekends often sell out on the first day of availability, and a small number of held-back sites are released on a rolling basis, which can help with last-minute planning outside peak season.
What to expect on the ground
Most parks near Kenneth City are paved or crushed-shell urban and suburban RV resorts with full hookups, laundry, and pools, rather than shaded, wooded sites. Roycroft RV Park and Bickley RV Park lean toward long-stay and 55+ residents, so families with kids are usually better matched to the St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA Holiday.
Expect Florida heat and biting insects from late spring through early fall, and plan for afternoon storms in summer. Sites at Fort De Soto have water and 30/50-amp electric hookups but no sewer at the site itself; dump stations are provided on site. Pets are permitted only in the designated loop (Area 2), and the Pinellas Bayway toll road is the only route in, so a SunPass or coins helps.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Kenneth%20City%2C%20FloridaDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Kenneth City, FL?
Good news for first-time renters: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Kenneth City. Florida does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement for personal recreational vehicle use, even for larger Class A motorhomes, as long as you are driving for personal travel. To book on RVezy you must be an approved driver, which generally means being at least 25 years old, and identity verification happens right on the platform. International visitors should bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with their home country license. With those boxes checked, you are ready to pick up your motorhome rental Kenneth City offers and hit the Gulf beaches.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs protection included with my Kenneth City RV rental?
Yes, every booking on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the road from Kenneth City with real peace of mind. The protection plan helps cover damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your coverage level during checkout based on what feels right for your trip. Coverage details vary by plan, so review the options at booking to pick the right fit. Pro tip: do a thorough walkaround with your host at pickup and snap photos. It only takes 10 minutes and gives you complete confidence heading into your Sunshine State adventure.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy if my Kenneth City RV trip plans change?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy uses a standard platform cancellation policy with a short grace period after you book, so you have breathing room if plans shift. The exact refund depends on how far out from your trip you cancel. Because RVezy sets the policy (not individual hosts), the same protection applies to every rent an RV in Kenneth City booking. Florida's Gulf Coast hurricane season runs June through November, so it is smart to monitor forecasts and reach out to RVezy support if a named storm impacts your dates. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best RVs and rates, since you will still have a flexible window to adjust if life happens.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Kenneth City?
Yes, four-legged travelers are welcome on plenty of trips. Filter for a pet-friendly RV rental Kenneth City has available right on the RVezy search page, then message the host about any pet fees or size limits. The area is fantastic for dogs: Fort De Soto Park, about 15 miles south, has a popular off-leash Paw Playground and a dedicated dog beach where pups can splash in the Gulf. Pet-friendly camping is available at Fort De Soto Campground in designated pet-friendly loops, so confirm site availability when you reserve. Pro tip: bring a collapsible water bowl and book a shady waterfront site so your pup stays cool in the Florida sun.
pinellas.gov/parks-preserves/fort-de-soto-park/Can the RV be delivered to my campground near Kenneth City?
Yes, RV delivery Kenneth City hosts offer is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you are new to RVing. Many local hosts will tow the RV to your campsite at Fort De Soto, the St. Petersburg/Madeira Beach KOA, or Bay Bayou RV Resort, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through everything before they leave. Delivery fees vary by distance, typically a few dollars per mile round-trip. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see hosts who offer this service. Pro tip: delivery is a smart move for events in the Tampa Bay area or stays on barrier islands where towing a big rig can be tricky.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Kenneth%20City%2C%20FloridaHow far can I drive from Kenneth City on my RV trip?

An RV road trip from Kenneth City to Everglades National Park is roughly 230 miles. Pro tip: filter for unlimited mileage on RVezy and ask hosts about their per-mile rate over the included allowance.

Fort De Soto is the crown jewel and books up fast. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for six months before your dates so you can pounce when the Pinellas County reservation window opens for non-residents.
pinellas.gov/parks-preserves/fort-de-soto-park/What is the best time of year for an RV trip from Kenneth City?
The sweet spot for an RV trip from Kenneth City is October through April, when daytime highs typically hover between 70 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit, humidity drops, and rain is minimal. December through February averages 60s and low 70s, paradise for snowbirds escaping northern winters. Summer (June through September) brings highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, high humidity, daily afternoon thunderstorms, and active Atlantic hurricane season through November. Spring (March and April) is gorgeous and a smart shoulder choice with smaller crowds than winter. Local tip: book a campervan rental in late October. The weather is perfect, snowbird crowds have not peaked, and rates are usually at their lowest.
weather.gov/tbw/I'm a first-time RV renter. What support do I get in Kenneth City?

First time renting an RV in Kenneth City is genuinely easy because every host provides a hands-on walkthrough at pickup, typically 30 to 60 minutes covering the generator, slide-outs, water tanks, propane, awning, and dump procedures. You can message hosts on RVezy with questions before you even book. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip, and 24/7 roadside assistance is included with protection plans. Pro tip: ask your host for their preferred local dump station and record a quick video of the walkthrough so you can replay it later when you arrive at your campsite.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if my RV has a problem on the road in Florida?
Take a breath, you are covered. Every RVezy booking with a protection plan includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so if you get a flat on I-275 heading to Tampa or your generator quits at Fort De Soto, one phone call gets help dispatched. Roadside assistance typically covers towing, tire changes, jump starts, lockouts, and fuel delivery. Your host is also a great secondary resource: most respond to messages quickly and know their RV inside out. RVezy customer support is reachable throughout your trip too. Pro tip: program both contacts into your phone before you leave Kenneth City and keep your booking confirmation handy.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Kenneth City RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is welcome on most RVezy rentals from Kenneth City, so a road trip to Georgia, Alabama, or up the Atlantic coast is on the table. Some hosts allow cross-border travel to Canada with advance permission, so confirm by messaging them before booking. One important note: travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Popular interstate routes from Kenneth City include the Florida Panhandle toward New Orleans (about 650 miles), Savannah and Charleston (about 450 to 550 miles), and the Great Smoky Mountains (about 700 miles). Pro tip: confirm any out-of-state or cross-border plans in writing through the RVezy message thread so everyone is on the same page.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on an RV trip from Kenneth City?
Florida is one of the easier states to budget for fuel. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 miles per gallon, Class C motorhomes get 10 to 14 mpg, and Class A motorhomes typically run 7 to 10 mpg. Florida gas prices generally track close to the national average. A round trip from Kenneth City to Key West (about 800 miles) in a Class C would burn roughly 60 to 80 gallons. Pro tip: use a fuel price app like GasBuddy and fill up off I-275 in Pinellas Park or at the Wesley Chapel exits, where prices are usually lower than at beach exits.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Kenneth City?
Book early and you will lock in the best spots. Fort De Soto Park opens its reservation window six months in advance for non-residents (seven months for Pinellas County residents) through the Pinellas County Parks system, and waterfront sites can disappear within minutes for peak winter weekends. Florida State Parks open 11 months out for Florida residents and 10 months out for non-residents through the Florida State Parks reservation system. Private parks like the St. Petersburg/Madeira Beach KOA generally accept reservations up to a year ahead. For January through March snowbird season, aim to book by mid-summer. Pro tip: if Fort De Soto sells out, check back midweek for cancellations from upcoming weekends.
pinellas.gov/parks-preserves/fort-de-soto-park/What are driving conditions like around Kenneth City for an RV?
Driving an RV around Kenneth City is refreshingly straightforward: the terrain is flat, speed limits are reasonable, and the interstates (I-275 and I-75) are well maintained. The main things to watch are the Sunshine Skyway Bridge on I-275 toward Bradenton, where high winds occasionally trigger advisories for high-profile vehicles, low clearances on a few older causeways, and summer afternoon thunderstorms that pop up like clockwork between roughly 3 and 5 PM. Avoid driving through downtown St. Pete or Tampa during rush hour (7 to 9 AM and 4 to 6 PM). Pro tip: a SunPass transponder makes Florida tolls automatic and cheaper, and your host can often help you set one up before your trip.
fdot.gov/traffic/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Kenneth City?
You will find well-equipped campgrounds within minutes of Kenneth City. Most local options offer full hookups (30 and 50 amp electric, water, sewer), dump stations, hot showers, laundry, Wi-Fi, and pools. Fort De Soto provides water and electric at every site plus a centralized dump station, while private parks like Bay Bayou RV Resort and the St. Pete/Madeira Beach KOA add full sewer hookups and resort-style amenities. Fresh water fill stations are widely available at campgrounds and at most truck stops along I-275. Pro tip: top off your fresh water tank before leaving the campground rather than mid-trip, and you will always have water for a beach rinse-off shower.
pinellas.gov/parks-preserves/fort-de-soto-park/What's included inside RV rentals in Kenneth City?
RV rentals on RVezy come ready for a Florida adventure. Expect comfortable sleeping for 2 to 8 (queen beds, bunks, convertible dinettes), a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, air conditioning (essential in Florida), a furnace, and seatbelts for safe travel. Most rentals include cookware, dishes, linens, and outdoor chairs. Many local hosts add Wi-Fi hotspots, generators, outdoor TVs, and even paddleboards or bikes as add-ons. Pro tip: confirm AC capacity before booking. Tampa Bay summers regularly hit the low 90s with high humidity, so a unit with a strong roof AC makes a big difference for daytime comfort.
weather.gov/tbw/What add-ons and pickup options are available for RV rentals in Kenneth City?
Hosts in the Kenneth City area offer a flexible menu of extras. Common add-ons include delivery and setup, generators, kayaks and beach gear, bike racks, linen and kitchen packages, and Wi-Fi hotspots. Pickup is typically at the host's home in the greater St. Petersburg or Pinellas Park area, with most offering a 30 to 60 minute orientation. Mileage policies usually include 100 to 150 miles per day, with extra miles at a per-mile rate, and unlimited mileage options exist too. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a beach gear package for stress-free arrival at Fort De Soto or Madeira Beach.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Kenneth%20City%2C%20FloridaHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card when you book, so there is no cash exchange with the host. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment before pickup (the amount varies by RV) and released after the trip wraps up smoothly. To avoid any issues, do a thorough walkaround at pickup and dropoff with your host, take date-stamped photos and a quick video, and return the RV with the same fuel and propane levels. Pro tip: keep all receipts for the dump station, propane fills, and any cleaning so disputes (which are rare) are easy to resolve.
