Campgrounds near Grenelefe
Grenelefe is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Polk County, Florida, sitting in the state's central lake country between Haines City and Lake Wales. Its population was 2,495 as of the 2020 census. The area is roughly an hour from Orlando and about the same from Tampa, which makes it a practical RV base for families splitting time between theme parks and lake recreation.
RV options within a short drive lean toward waterfront fish camps and full-hookup resorts. Cherry Pocket Fish Camp sits on a canal off Lake Pierce with direct boat access, while Paradise Island RV Park is set on the Lake Hamilton chain with dock and canal access. Oak Hammock Resort, Midway RV Park, and Royal Oaks RV round out the closer inventory around Haines City and Dundee.
Most private parks in this corridor cater to snowbirds and long-stay guests in the cooler months, then loosen up for shorter family bookings in late spring and summer. Public camping is available at Lake Kissimmee State Park to the east, which anchors the region's outdoor recreation scene.
Things to do near Grenelefe
The Kissimmee Chain of Lakes is the main draw. Boaters can launch and explore the 35,000 acres of Lake Kissimmee and the neighboring lakes and creeks, with activities including wildlife viewing, sightseeing, bass fishing, and pan fishing. Cherry Pocket Fish Camp and Paradise Island RV Park both offer on-site ramps and dock access for guests bringing or renting a boat.
On land, Lake Kissimmee State Park has more than 13 miles of hiking trails and 6 miles open to equestrians, plus a restored 1876-era cow camp that operates Saturdays from October through April. Theme-park families are within about an hour of Walt Disney World and Legoland Florida, and Bok Tower Gardens near Lake Wales is a shorter drive for a lower-key day out.
Anglers should note that largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, chain pickerel, and bluegill are all common catches on the surrounding lakes.

Central Florida's peak RV season runs from late fall through early spring, when temperatures are mild, humidity drops, and mosquito pressure eases. Autumn, winter, and spring are all comfortable times for camping in the area; summers can still be sweltering, and summertime campers are most comfortable with a fan or air conditioning. Snowbird-oriented parks fill for multi-month winter stays, so short-trip visitors should book early for January through March.
Summer brings daily afternoon thunderstorms and the region's heaviest rainfall, but sites are easier to secure and lake fishing stays strong. Atlantic hurricane season officially runs June through November, with peak risk from August into October, so watch NOAA and National Hurricane Center advisories when booking in that window.
Spring and fall are the sweet spots for tent and hybrid setups. The camp store at Lake Kissimmee State Park is open from November to April, which aligns with the busiest visitor months at the state park.

How to book campgrounds near Grenelefe
Public sites at Lake Kissimmee State Park are reserved through the Florida State Parks system. Florida residents can make campsite reservations 11 months in advance, while non-residents can make reservations 10 months in advance, through the Florida State Parks reservations website or by calling 800-326-3521. Note that the campgrounds at Lake Kissimmee State Park are closed for a renovation project effective February 17, 2026, so confirm status before planning a stay there.
Private parks, including Cherry Pocket Fish Camp, Oak Hammock Resort, Midway RV Park, Royal Oaks RV, and Paradise Island RV Park, book directly through their own websites or by phone. Winter dates for the snowbird-oriented resorts should be locked in several months out; shoulder-season weekends can often be secured a few weeks ahead.
What to expect
Expect flat terrain, palm and oak canopy, and a mix of lakefront and open-field sites. Full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service are standard at the larger private parks, and pull-throughs are common. Lake Kissimmee State Park offers only 30 amp electric service, and the campground may experience low voltage during peak season, so big rigs relying on air conditioning should plan accordingly.
Cell service is generally solid in the Haines City corridor but thins out east toward the state park. Cell service and internet access within Lake Kissimmee State Park are limited or unavailable. Wildlife encounters are part of the experience: alligators, sandhill cranes, bald eagles, white-tailed deer, and turkeys are common in the lakes region.
Several private parks in the area operate as 55+ or adult-oriented communities, so families traveling with children should confirm age policies before booking.

How much does an RV rental in Grenelefe, FL typically cost?
Good news: RV rental in Grenelefe is one of Central Florida's better values, especially compared to nearby Orlando. Travel trailers commonly start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes typically run $175 to $275 per night, and larger Class A rigs sit in the $250 to $400 range, depending on age and amenities. Winter (December through March) is peak snowbird season, so booking 2 to 3 months ahead helps lock in better pricing. To find a cheap RV rental in Grenelefe, search in late spring or early fall, look for hosts offering weekly discounts, and use the price filter on RVezy. Pro tip: midweek pickups around Haines City often save you 10 to 20 percent versus weekend starts.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Grenelefe%2C%20FloridaWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Grenelefe, FL?
Good news: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Grenelefe, Florida. No commercial license, CDL, or special RV endorsement is required for any motorhome or travel trailer on the RVezy platform, even the big Class A coaches you'll see cruising US-27. Approved drivers on RVezy are generally 25 or older, and ID verification happens right through the booking platform, so there's nothing to mail or fax. Visiting from abroad? Pick up an International Driving Permit from your home auto association before you fly into Orlando. Most first-time renters are pleasantly surprised by how quick the approval process is.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection is included with my Grenelefe RV rental?
Every RV rental in Grenelefe booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can roll out toward Lake Marion or Bok Tower Gardens with real peace of mind. You choose your level of coverage during checkout to match your trip, whether it's a weekend at Lake Eva or a two-week loop through the Florida Keys. Protection plans help cover eligible damage to the RV during your rental (this is not traditional auto insurance, but it provides meaningful financial protection). If you get a flat on I-4 or the AC quits in July heat, one call gets help on the way. Booking confidently means knowing you're covered from pickup to drop-off.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Grenelefe RV trip?
You're not locked in. RVezy sets a clear, standardized cancellation policy on every booking (hosts don't define this, which keeps refunds predictable for you). There's a full money-back grace period right after booking, and refund amounts after that depend on how close you are to your trip start date. If a host cancels on you, RVezy refunds you in full or helps you rebook. Central Florida hurricane season runs June through November, so check the latest cancellation terms in the RVezy Help Center before booking. The bottom line: booking your RV rental in Grenelefe early to lock in the best rig is genuinely low-risk.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Grenelefe?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental Grenelefe options are easy to find. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see listings where dogs (and often cats) are welcome. Polk County is famously dog-friendly: Lake Eva Community Park in Haines City has shaded walking paths, and Allen David Broussard Catfish Creek Preserve State Park allows leashed pets on its sandy scrub trails. Florida State Parks ask pets stay leashed (6-foot max) and off swimming beaches, but campsites are open to four-legged guests. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee and to mention your dog's size so they can recommend the right floor plan.
floridastateparks.org/learn/pets-parksCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Grenelefe?
Yes, RV delivery Grenelefe is one of the easiest ways to start your trip stress-free. Many local hosts will drive the RV directly to your campsite at places like Lake Marion Resort, Camp Mack in Lake Wales, or even a private driveway in Haines City, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system. This is gold for first-time renters or anyone flying into Orlando International (MCO), which is about 45 minutes north. Just filter listings by Delivery on RVezy, enter your destination, and hosts will quote the delivery fee upfront. You can literally land at MCO, Uber to a campground, and your RV is already set up waiting.
visitflorida.com/How far can I drive on a Grenelefe RV trip?
Grenelefe sits in a sweet spot of Central Florida, so your road trip range is excellent. Most hosts include a daily mileage allowance (commonly 100 to 150 miles per day) with extra miles available for a small per-mile fee, and some listings offer RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer adventures. From Grenelefe you're roughly 45 minutes to Orlando theme parks, 90 minutes to Tampa Bay beaches, 2 hours to Cocoa Beach on the Atlantic, 2.5 hours to Sarasota and Siesta Key, and about 5.5 hours to Key Largo. Pro tip: if you're planning a big RV road trip from Grenelefe down to the Keys or up to St. Augustine, message the host about a custom mileage package before booking.

Lake Kissimmee State Park is a favorite for lakeside state-park camping, with reservations available up to 11 months ahead through the official Florida State Parks reservation site.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/lake-kissimmee-state-parkWhen is the best time to visit Grenelefe in an RV?
Winter is the sweet spot for an RV rental in Florida around Grenelefe. From November through April, daytime highs sit in the gorgeous 68 to 78°F (20 to 26°C) range, humidity drops, and afternoon rain is rare, which is exactly why snowbirds flock to Polk County every year. Spring (March to early May) brings warm 80s and blooming citrus groves along the Ridge Scenic Highway. Summer (June through September) is hot and humid with highs in the low 90s°F (32 to 34°C) and daily afternoon thunderstorms, plus it's hurricane season. October is the underrated shoulder month: warm lake water, fewer crowds, and lower nightly rates. Book winter trips 3+ months out.
weather.gov/mlb/I'm a first-time renter, will I know how to drive the RV?
Yes, and that's the beauty of renting through RVezy. Every host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, leveling, hookups, slide-outs, the generator, the toilet, and the awning, and they're a text away during your trip. First time renting an RV around Grenelefe is actually ideal: roads here are flat, wide, and well-maintained, with US-27 and US-17 offering straight, low-stress drives. If city driving makes you nervous, skip the Orlando highways and explore the quieter Lake Wales Ridge instead. Pro tip: message the host before booking with your experience level. Many in the Haines City area regularly host first-timers and tailor the walkthrough accordingly.
flhsmv.gov/safety-center/What happens if something breaks down during my trip?
You're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so whether you have a flat on I-4, a dead battery at Lake Marion, or a lockout at Bok Tower Gardens, one phone call gets help dispatched. Your host is also your first line of support for quirks specific to their RV (for example, which breaker controls the microwave), and most hosts in the Grenelefe area respond quickly by message. RVezy customer support is reachable before, during, and after your trip through the Help Center. Pro tip: snap photos of the RV's key systems during your walkthrough so you can text questions easily from the road.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Grenelefe RV rental out of Florida or to other states?
Most hosts allow interstate travel within the US, which makes Grenelefe a fantastic launchpad for the Southeast. Popular cross-state routes include Grenelefe to Savannah, GA (about 6 hours), Grenelefe to the Smoky Mountains (about 10 hours), and Grenelefe to New Orleans (about 12 hours). Message the host before booking to confirm your route is approved, since a few prefer to keep trips within Florida. One firm rule: travel to Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals because protection coverage does not extend there. Travel into Canada may be possible depending on the host and insurance terms, so ask directly. Within the US, the open road from Grenelefe is wide open.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much will fuel cost on a Grenelefe RV trip?
Fuel is one of your biggest budget lines, but it's manageable in Florida where gas prices typically run close to the national average. Travel trailers don't burn fuel themselves (you tow them, so your tow vehicle's mileage matters), Class B campervans average 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A coaches range from 6 to 10 MPG. A round trip from Grenelefe to Key West (about 700 miles round trip) in a Class C could cost roughly $250 to $350 in gas. Pro tip: the Wawa stations along US-27 and I-4 usually beat highway pricing, and apps like GasBuddy save real money in Polk County.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Grenelefe?
Florida State Parks open reservations 11 months in advance through the official ReserveAmerica-powered system, and winter slots (December to March) at popular spots like Lake Kissimmee State Park and Highlands Hammock fill the same day they open. For private parks like Camp Mack or Lake Marion Resort, 2 to 4 months ahead is usually plenty outside of holiday weeks. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, Spring Break, and Bike Week (Daytona, early March) book fastest. Pro tip: if your dates are flexible, search midweek arrival dates and you'll often find openings even in peak season. Pair an early campground booking with your RVezy rental for a stress-free Grenelefe RV trip.
floridastateparks.org/things-to-do/campingWhat are local driving conditions like around Grenelefe?
Grenelefe driving is genuinely beginner-friendly: terrain is flat, sightlines are long, and the main routes (US-27, US-17, and SR-544) are wide divided highways well suited to RVs. I-4 between Tampa and Orlando gets heavy congestion during weekday rush hours and around the Disney exits, so leave early or after 10 AM. Watch for Florida's signature afternoon thunderstorms from June through September; pull off at a rest area and wait out the downpour rather than fight low visibility. Love bugs (peaking in May and September) can coat your windshield, so carry washer fluid. Always check posted bridge and overpass clearances against your RV's height before heading out, and use FL511 for real-time traffic.
fl511.com/What amenities do campgrounds near Grenelefe offer?
Campgrounds around Grenelefe are well equipped for RVs of every size. Most private parks like Lake Marion Resort and Camp Mack provide full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, and sewer at each site), plus pools, laundry, Wi-Fi, and camp stores. Florida State Parks such as Lake Kissimmee and Highlands Hammock offer water and electric with centralized dump stations and bathhouses with hot showers. You can typically fill fresh water at the entrance and dump tanks on the way out (some sites are sewer-equipped, ask when booking). Pro tip: Polk County's hard water can be tough on RV systems, so a $25 inline water filter from any Walmart along US-27 is a smart small investment.
floridastateparks.org/rv-campingWhat features and amenities come with Grenelefe RV rentals?
Rentals in the Grenelefe and Haines City area come ready for Florida life. Expect comfortable beds (queen or king masters, plus bunks or convertible dinettes), full kitchens with fridge, microwave, stove, and often an outdoor griddle, bathrooms with showers, roof-mounted air conditioning (non-negotiable in Florida), and DOT-approved seatbelts for travel days. Many listings include flat-screen TVs, backup cameras, generators for off-grid stops, and outdoor speakers. Campervan rental Grenelefe options like Class B vans are perfect for couples, while Class C motorhomes sleep 6 to 8 for family trips. Filter by Sleeps count and RV type on RVezy to match your group. Pro tip: confirm AC tonnage with the host if you're traveling July through September.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicle-safetyWhat add-ons can I get with my Grenelefe RV rental?
Hosts in the Grenelefe area offer popular add-ons that make trip prep painless. Common options include kitchen kits (pots, dishes, coffee maker), linen and bedding packages, camping chairs and outdoor mats, portable grills, generators for boondocking, bike racks, and even kayak racks (handy on the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes). Many hosts also offer pre-stocked propane and full fresh-water tanks. Pickup and drop-off is usually at the host's location in Haines City, Davenport, or Winter Haven, but delivery is widely available across Polk County. Mileage policies vary by listing, so check the daily allowance shown on the listing. Pro tip: bundling add-ons with delivery often saves more than booking each separately.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106554-Add-ons-and-extra-servicesHow do payments and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through RVezy at the time of booking using a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, which protects both sides. A security deposit is held separately (typically a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the rig) as a pre-authorization on your card, not a charge, and it's released after drop-off assuming the RV comes back in the same condition. To avoid issues, do a thorough walkthrough video at pickup and drop-off, return with the agreed fuel and propane levels, and dump tanks if your rental package requires it. Pro tip: keep all communication inside the RVezy app so everything is documented if questions come up later.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat's a great local insider tip for an RV trip from Grenelefe?
Here's the local secret: skip the Orlando theme-park traffic on day one and head south on the Ridge Scenic Highway (CR 17) instead. Within 30 minutes of Grenelefe you'll roll past citrus groves, Bok Tower Gardens (a 205-foot singing tower set in Frederick Law Olmsted-designed gardens), and the Spook Hill optical illusion in Lake Wales. Grab fresh-squeezed orange juice at Davidson of Dundee, then set up camp at Lake Kissimmee State Park for sunset bass fishing and a near-guaranteed bald eagle sighting. It's the kind of slow, classic Florida RV camping Grenelefe locals quietly love, and it makes a perfect first night before tackling the bigger attractions later in the week.
