Campgrounds and RV parks near Liberty Triangle, FL

Outdoor activity centers on water and trails. The Cross Florida Greenway crosses the area with paved and natural-surface paths for hiking, cycling, and horseback riding, and the Santos trailhead is a well-known mountain biking hub. Spring-fed swimming, snorkeling, and paddling are short drives away at Rainbow Springs, Silver Springs, Juniper Springs, and Alexander Springs, where water stays cool and clear year-round. The Ocala National Forest east of town offers off-road vehicle routes, hunting in season, and access to the Florida National Scenic Trail. Families can tour horse farms, visit the World Equestrian Center north of Liberty Triangle, or take day trips to Orlando theme parks. Anglers fish the Withlacoochee River and Lake Weir for bass, bream, and catfish.

Winter through early spring is the prime RV window. From November through April, daytime highs are mild, humidity drops, and rainfall is light, which makes hookup parks in the Ocala area popular with snowbirds. Sites at full-service resorts often fill weeks or months ahead during this stretch, especially around horse shows at the World Equestrian Center and HITS Ocala. Late spring brings rising heat and the start of the wet season. From June through September, afternoon thunderstorms are nearly daily and humidity is high, and trails and unshaded sites can feel oppressive by midday. This is also Atlantic hurricane season, which peaks in August and September and can bring inland wind and flooding even far from the coast. Fall cools off gradually. October and November bring drier air, comfortable temperatures, and lower crowds before the winter snowbird arrivals. Ocala National Forest campgrounds stay open year-round, but Alexander Springs requires a timed Vehicle Access Reservation on weekends and holidays from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Terrain around Liberty Triangle is flat to gently rolling, with sandy soils, oak hammocks, and pine flatwoods. Most private RV resorts in the Ocala area offer paved or hard-packed pads, full hookups, laundry, and pools, and many cater to long-term and 55-plus guests, so quiet hours are enforced. Forest campgrounds in Ocala National Forest are more rustic, with most sites offering no electric or sewer hookups. Drinking water, dump stations, and showers are typical, but cell service is patchy inside the forest. Bring insect repellent year-round, expect raccoons and the occasional bear in forest areas, and plan for soft sand on unpaved access roads after heavy rain.
