Campgrounds and RV parks near Miami Beach, FL

The main draw is the Atlantic shoreline: Lummus Park beach, the Art Deco Historic District along Ocean Drive, and Lincoln Road for walkable dining and shopping. South Pointe Park at the southern tip has a pier, playground, and views of cruise ships entering Government Cut, which makes it an easy stop for families. Off the sand, the Wynwood Walls street-art district, Little Havana on Calle Ocho, and the Frost Science Museum in downtown Miami are all reachable in under thirty minutes from most area campgrounds. Day trips west lead to Everglades National Park for airboat tours and alligator viewing, and south to Biscayne National Park for reef snorkeling by boat. Oleta River State Park on Biscayne Bay adds mountain biking trails and kayak, paddleboard, and bicycle rentals.

Miami Beach is a year-round destination, but the RV camping calendar is heavily tilted toward the dry season. From roughly late November through April, temperatures are mild, humidity is lower, and rain is infrequent. This is when snowbirds and seasonal renters fill Broward and Miami-Dade RV parks, so sites can be booked months out, especially around the winter holidays and spring break. Late spring and summer bring heat, high humidity, and near-daily afternoon thunderstorms. Miami Beach experiences a tropical monsoon climate with warm winters and hot summers, with a strong seasonal pattern where summers are significantly wetter than the drier winter months, and heavy seasonal downpours or afternoon thunderstorms can occur during the warmer months. Sites are easier to find, but plan around storms and bring bug protection. Hurricane season officially runs from June through November, with peak activity from August through October. Watch NOAA and National Hurricane Center advisories, and confirm each campground's evacuation and refund policy before locking in a fall trip.

Expect an urban camping experience. Most parks near Miami Beach are flat, paved, and close to highways or rail lines, with limited shade and small site footprints. Full hookups with water, sewer, and 30/50-amp electric are standard at the private parks listed here, and Wi-Fi, laundry, and pools are common. Campers should prepare for urban noise including trains and highways at most locations, as sites are typically situated within a developed metropolitan area. Traffic between the mainland and Miami Beach can be heavy across the MacArthur, Julia Tuttle, and Venetian causeways, especially at rush hour and on event weekends. Parking on the beach side is limited and metered, so many visitors leave the rig at the campground and rideshare over. Mosquitoes, no-see-ums, and sun exposure are the main comfort issues; screens, repellent, and shade tarps make a real difference from May through October.
