Campgrounds and RV parks near North River Shores, FL

Water is the main draw. The St. Lucie and Indian River lagoons support kayaking, paddleboarding, and inshore fishing for snook, redfish, and tarpon, and boat ramps in Stuart and Rio give direct access to the estuary and Atlantic inlet. Hutchinson Island beaches, Bathtub Reef, and Stuart Beach are within a short drive. Jonathan Dickinson State Park protects miles of multi-use trails, the Loxahatchee River (a federally designated Wild and Scenic River), and the historic Trapper Nelson homestead, reachable by boat or trail. Savannas Preserve State Park offers hiking, paddling, and wildlife viewing across freshwater marsh habitat. Downtown Stuart, a short drive south, has a walkable riverfront district with restaurants, a farmers market, and the Maritime Museum.

The Treasure Coast follows a distinct wet-and-dry pattern. November through April is the dry season and the busiest camping window, with warm days, lower humidity, and cooler nights. Snowbird RVers fill private resorts from January through March, so book several months out for that stretch. Jonathan Dickinson State Park releases sites eleven months ahead through the Florida State Parks reservation system, and popular weekends between Thanksgiving and Easter go quickly. May through October is the wet season, hot and humid with near-daily afternoon thunderstorms and higher mosquito activity in marsh areas. Availability is easier and rates typically ease, but Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, peaking August through October. Monitor National Hurricane Center advisories and confirm each park's evacuation policy before travel. Shoulder months, late October to mid-November and late April to early May, balance warm weather with lighter crowds and better campsite availability.

Most private resorts near North River Shores offer paved or hard-pack sites with full hookups, cable, and Wi-Fi, and many have pools, laundry, and shuffleboard courts. Sites can be tight in older parks, so confirm length, slide clearance, and 50-amp availability when booking a larger rig. At Jonathan Dickinson State Park, the Pine Grove and River loops offer back-in and pull-through sites with electric and water, restrooms with hot showers, and a dump station. Sites accommodate a range of RV lengths, though very large motorcoaches should measure carefully. Expect subtropical conditions: bring insect repellent, sun protection, and a surge protector. Storms can be heavy and brief in summer, and no-see-ums are active near marshes and the coast at dawn and dusk.
