Camping near Palm City, Florida
Palm City sits in Martin County on Florida's Treasure Coast, just west of Stuart and inland from the Atlantic. The area works well as an RV base because it offers access to both inland waterways and Atlantic coast beaches within a 30-minute drive. The St. Lucie River, Indian River Lagoon, and several nearby state parks give travelers a mix of freshwater, brackish, and ocean access without long transit days.
Most RV visitors stay at private full-hookup resorts clustered around Jensen Beach, Port St. Lucie, and Hutchinson Island. Ocean Breeze Resort, PSL Village RV Park, Port St Lucie RV Resort, Nettles Island Resort and RV Park, and Floridays RV Park are the closest options and cover a range of styles from beachside island parks to inland communities.
For a public-lands stay, Jonathan Dickinson State Park south of Stuart is the largest option in the region, spanning thousands of acres of Florida scrub habitat along the Loxahatchee River in Martin County.
Things to do around Palm City
Water is the main draw. The St. Lucie River, Indian River Lagoon, and nearby inlets support boating, kayaking, and inshore fishing on Florida's east coast. Stuart is widely known as the Sailfish Capital of the World, and charter boats operate year-round out of local marinas.
Beach days are easy from Palm City. Hutchinson Island, Jensen Beach, and Stuart Beach are within a short drive, and Nettles Island Resort and RV Park puts guests directly on the barrier island. Guests at Ocean Breeze Resort or Port St Lucie RV Resort can reach the coast in under thirty minutes.
For land-based activity, Jonathan Dickinson State Park offers hiking, cycling, equestrian trails, and ranger-guided boat tours to Trapper Nelson's 1930s homestead along the Loxahatchee River.

The Treasure Coast is a classic snowbird destination, and demand follows a clear seasonal pattern. Winter daytime temperatures average in the low 70s Fahrenheit, while summer brings humid days near 90°F with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Peak RV season runs from roughly December through March, when northern travelers drive south for dry, mild weather. Long-term sites at parks like Ocean Breeze Resort and Nettles Island Resort and RV Park fill months in advance for this window.
Spring, especially April and May, is a strong shoulder season. Days warm quickly, humidity climbs, but rainfall stays moderate and campgrounds are less crowded than mid-winter. Fishing, beach time, and state-park camping are all comfortable.
Summer is hot, humid, and wet. August is one of the wettest months, with frequent thunderstorms across the region. Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, with peak activity in September, so travelers should track NOAA forecasts and confirm evacuation policies with their park.

Booking an RV site near Palm City
Private resorts around Palm City are booked directly through each park's website or phone reservations desk. Ocean Breeze Resort, PSL Village RV Park, Port St Lucie RV Resort, Nettles Island Resort and RV Park, and Floridays RV Park each set their own deposit, minimum-stay, and cancellation rules, so confirm those at the time of booking. For winter arrivals, most travelers lock in sites six to nine months out.
For state park camping at Jonathan Dickinson, use the Florida State Parks reservation system. Florida residents may reserve up to 11 months in advance, and non-residents up to 10 months in advance. Maximum RV length is 40 feet for Pine Grove Campground and 36 feet for the River Campground. Sites for the December-through-March window typically sell out quickly on the rolling reservation calendar.
What to expect on the ground
Terrain around Palm City is flat and easy to drive, with I-95 and Florida's Turnpike running north-south just minutes from most campgrounds. Access roads to barrier-island parks like Nettles Island cross fixed bridges suitable for standard RV heights, but drivers of tall rigs should confirm clearances in advance.
Expect full hookups at the private resorts listed above, typically with 50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections on level pads. Many parks in this area are age-restricted or lean heavily toward seasonal residents in winter, so travelers with children should verify family policies before booking.
Mosquitoes and no-see-ums are common near marsh and river sites, especially at dusk. Bring repellent, keep screen doors closed, and stow food carefully. Raccoons are active at coastal parks.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Palm City, FL
How much does an RV rental in Palm City, FL typically cost?
An RV rental in Palm City is one of the most affordable ways to explore Florida's Treasure Coast. Travel trailers usually start around $90 to $150 per night, campervans run about $125 to $225, and larger Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $325 nightly depending on size and season. Snowbird season (January through March) is the priciest stretch, while late spring and early fall deliver the best value on RV rental Florida bookings. To find a cheap RV rental Palm City option, sort by price on RVezy, book midweek, and message hosts about multi-night discounts. Pro tip: Stuart and Hutchinson Island are about 15 minutes away, so even a budget rental puts you minutes from the Atlantic.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Palm%20City%2C%20FloridaWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Palm City, Florida?
Great news for first-time renters: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Palm City. Florida does not require a special RV license or Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for any motorhome or travel trailer you will find on RVezy, including Class A coaches and large fifth wheels. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and ID is verified through the platform when you book, so there is no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you are set. Most guests are surprised how smooth the process is, especially when the host handles the orientation walkthrough.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs protection included with my Palm City RV rental?
Yes, and that is one of the best parts of booking an RV rental in Palm City through RVezy. Every booking includes an RVezy renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you are covered from the moment you drive off. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the RV, giving you real peace of mind whether you are navigating I-95 or parking at a beachfront campground. During checkout you choose your coverage level (not the host), so you can match it to your trip. While it is not traditional auto insurance, it removes the biggest financial worry most first-time renters have. Hit the road knowing flat tires, lockouts, and minor mishaps are handled with one phone call.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Palm City RV trip?
Life happens, and RVezy makes it low-risk to book an RV rental in Palm City. Every booking is covered by an RVezy-managed cancellation policy (not set by individual hosts) and includes a grace period right after you book. The exact refund window depends on how far out your trip is, and Florida's Treasure Coast occasionally sees hurricane activity between June and November. You will see the full cancellation details before you confirm payment, and RVezy support is available if plans shift. Pro tip: if a named storm is forecast for Martin County, contact RVezy support right away and they will walk you through your options so you can rebook for clearer skies.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an RV rental in Palm City?
Absolutely, Palm City is wonderfully dog-friendly and so is RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when browsing pet-friendly RV rental Palm City listings to see hosts who welcome four-legged co-pilots. Many charge a small pet fee (usually $25 to $75 per trip) to cover extra cleaning. Once you've got your RV, your pup will love Halpatiokee Regional Park's dog area, the leashed-dog-friendly Atlantic Ridge Preserve State Park, and the off-leash beach hours at Stuart Beach on Hutchinson Island (before 9 a.m. and after 4 p.m. for leashed dogs). Pro tip: message the host before booking to mention your dog's size and breed so everyone starts the trip on the right paw.
martin.fl.us/HalpatiokeeRegionalParkCan the RV be delivered to my campground or vacation rental?
Yes, RV delivery Palm City is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game-changer for first-timers. Many local hosts will drive the RV straight to your campsite, driveway, or even a marina parking area, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery fees typically run $2 to $5 per mile from the host's location, and popular drop-off spots include Jonathan Dickinson State Park, Phipps Park Campground, and Savannas Preserve. To find delivery-ready RVs, use the Delivery filter when you search. Pro tip: book delivery if you're flying into Palm Beach International (PBI), about 45 minutes south, and skip the rental car entirely.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/jonathan-dickinson-state-parkHow far can I travel on a Palm City RV rental?
You can roam as far as your itinerary allows. Hosts set their own mileage policies, with many offering 100 to 150 free miles per night and some listings offering RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for longer Florida loops. From Palm City you're 45 minutes from West Palm Beach, 90 minutes to Orlando theme parks, 2 hours to Fort Lauderdale, about 2.5 hours to the Florida Keys gateway in Homestead, and 3 hours to Tampa. The Everglades National Park's Royal Palm entrance sits about 2 hours and 45 minutes south. Pro tip: filter by unlimited mileage if you're planning a multi-stop RV road trip from Palm City, and you'll never have to watch the odometer.
nps.gov/ever/planyourvisit/directions.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Palm City for RV camping?
You're spoiled for choice. Some of the best campgrounds near Palm City for RV camping include Jonathan Dickinson State Park in nearby Hobe Sound (full hookups, the Loxahatchee River, and 9 miles of trails), Phipps Park Campground right in Stuart (waterfront sites on the St. Lucie River with full hookups), Savannas Recreation Area in Fort Pierce (lakefront 30/50-amp sites), and Pine Lake Camp Resort in Okeechobee for a quieter inland vibe. KOA Okeechobee is another solid pick for families about 45 minutes west. Pro tip: Jonathan Dickinson is the local favorite, but its 90 sites fill fast. See the booking timing question below to lock in a spot.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/jonathan-dickinson-state-parkWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip to Palm City?
Honestly, Palm City is a year-round destination, but the sweet spot runs late October through April when daytime highs sit between 74 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit with low humidity and little rain. January and February are coolest (mornings in the upper 50s, perfect campfire weather) and draw snowbirds from across North America. May through September brings hot, humid days near 90 degrees and afternoon thunderstorms, plus hurricane season from June 1 to November 30. Summer is still great if you love beach time and lower rates; just plan driving in the morning. Pro tip: book a Palm City RV trip in March for spring training baseball, the Stuart Air Show vibe, and ideal beach weather.
weather.gov/mfl/climateI've never driven an RV. Will I be okay in Palm City?
You'll do great, and Palm City is honestly one of the easier places in Florida to start. Roads are flat, well-signed, and traffic outside of I-95 rush hour is light. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking through driving, leveling, hookups, generator, slide-outs, and waste tanks, so first time renting an RV doesn't mean figuring it out alone. Most newbies pick a travel trailer or Class C in the 22 to 28 foot range for easy handling. Stick to local roads like Martin Highway (714) and US-1 your first day, and avoid the narrow Roosevelt Bridge during weekend traffic. Pro tip: practice a few turns in a big-box parking lot like the Treasure Coast Square Mall before heading to your campground.
fdot.gov/safety/What happens if I have a breakdown or problem on the road?
You are never on your own. Every RV rental in Palm City booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. If something acts up, one phone call gets help dispatched to your location, whether you are at Jonathan Dickinson State Park or cruising the Florida Turnpike. You can also message your host directly through the RVezy app for quick questions about quirks specific to their RV, and RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: snap a quick photo of your RV's tire pressure sticker and propane shutoff at pickup so you have reference shots if anything comes up on the road.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityCan I take my Palm City rental on a longer road trip or out of Florida?
Yes, most hosts welcome cross-state RV road trips from Palm City, and many guests use this as a launchpad for Florida-wide adventures. Popular routes include I-95 north to St. Augustine (3 hours), I-75 north to the Georgia coast (5 hours), or A1A south along the Atlantic to the Keys. Travel within the United States and Canada is generally allowed; just confirm with your host through messaging before booking if you're crossing state lines. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance does not cover it. Pro tip: if you're heading to the Keys, reserve campsites at Bahia Honda or Long Key State Park 11 months ahead because they sell out within minutes.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/bahia-honda-state-parkWhat should I budget for fuel on a Palm City RV trip?
Fuel is usually the second-biggest trip expense, but it's manageable with a little planning. Class C motorhomes around Palm City typically get 8 to 10 miles per gallon, Class B campervans 15 to 20, and you'll tow travel trailers with your host's truck (or yours) at roughly 10 to 13 mpg. Florida regular unleaded has recently averaged about $3.10 to $3.40 per gallon, with cheaper stations on US-1 in Stuart and along Kanner Highway. For a typical weekend loop of 200 to 300 miles, budget $75 to $150 in gas. Pro tip: top up at the Wawa or RaceTrac on Martin Highway before heading to Jonathan Dickinson, where the nearest fuel is 10 minutes away.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campground near Palm City?
Earlier is always better, especially for the Treasure Coast's most-loved parks. Florida State Parks (Jonathan Dickinson, Savannas Preserve, St. Lucie Inlet) open reservations exactly 11 months in advance at 8 a.m. ET through ReserveAmerica, and winter weekends often book up within the first few minutes. Martin County parks like Phipps Park accept reservations up to 6 months ahead and tend to have more last-minute openings. Private resorts like Pine Lake usually have 3 to 6 months of flexibility. Pro tip: create your ReserveAmerica account ahead of time and have your credit card ready at 7:58 a.m. on booking day. For shoulder-season trips (April, September, October), you can often grab a spot just a week or two out.
floridastateparks.org/learn/reservation-rulesWhat are the driving conditions like around Palm City?
Easy and beginner-friendly, mostly. Palm City sits at the intersection of I-95, Florida's Turnpike, and Highway 714, all of which are flat, wide, and well-maintained, perfect terrain for a campervan rental Palm City or larger motorhome. The main things to watch are afternoon summer thunderstorms (pull over and wait 20 minutes if visibility drops), the low-clearance Roosevelt Bridge approach in downtown Stuart, and rush hour on I-95 between 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Hurricane season runs June through November, so check forecasts and Florida 511 before long drives. Pro tip: take Kanner Highway (SR-76) instead of I-95 for a scenic, low-traffic route inland toward Lake Okeechobee.
fl511.com/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Palm City?
Treasure Coast campgrounds are well-equipped. Most full-service parks near Palm City offer 30/50-amp electric, potable water, and sewer at the site (or a central dump station), plus picnic tables, fire rings, and bathhouses with hot showers. Jonathan Dickinson State Park has a dump station, laundry, camp store, and even kayak rentals on the Loxahatchee River. Phipps Park provides full hookups and a fishing pier on the St. Lucie River. For free dump stations, the Martin County Public Works facility off Kanner Highway is a reliable option. Pro tip: fill your freshwater tank before leaving Palm City because many state park sites have water at the spigot but pressure varies. A short hose and pressure regulator (often included in your rental) will keep things smooth.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/jonathan-dickinson-state-parkWhat's included inside a typical Palm City RV rental?
More than you'd expect. Most motorhome rental Palm City listings come fully furnished and trip-ready: a real bed (or two), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink and cookware, a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate-controlled air conditioning (essential in Florida), a dinette, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many also include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and an onboard generator for off-grid power. Some hosts add Wi-Fi hotspots, beach chairs, paddleboards, or bikes as add-ons, perfect for Hutchinson Island day trips. Each listing details exactly what's included, and you can message the host to confirm. Pro tip: ask about an outdoor shower if you're beach-bound. It's a sandy-feet lifesaver after a day at Bathtub Beach.
visitflorida.com/places-to-go/central-east/martin-county/Are there popular add-ons or extra fees I should know about?
Yes, and add-ons are where you can really customize your trip. Common Palm City RV add-ons include linen and kitchen packages ($25 to $75), generator hours for boondocking ($3 to $5 per hour beyond the included amount), bike or paddleboard rentals ($15 to $30 per day), and pet fees ($25 to $75). Delivery and setup, mentioned earlier, is the most-loved upgrade. Pickup and drop-off typically happen at the host's home or a nearby meetup spot, often along Martin Highway or near I-95 Exit 110. Mileage policies vary by host, from 100 free miles per night to unlimited, so check the listing. Pro tip: bundle delivery, linens, and a generator package up front to avoid surprise charges later, your final price is locked in at booking.
martin.fl.us/How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and secure. When you book an RV rental in Palm City, you pay through the RVezy platform (never directly to the host), with major credit cards accepted. A security deposit is placed as a temporary hold on your card a few days before your trip, typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV's value, and it is released after a clean return. To avoid deposit issues, take a quick walkaround video at pickup and drop-off, return the RV with the same fuel and propane levels, and empty the waste tanks if your rental agreement requires it. Pro tip: keep your gas receipts from a Stuart or Palm City Wawa to easily show fill-up proof, and refunds typically post within a few days of trip end.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat's a local insider tip for making the most of a Palm City RV trip?
Here is a favorite among Treasure Coast locals: time your trip around the manatee season. From November through March, manatees gather in the warm waters around the Manatee Observation and Education Center in Fort Pierce (about 25 minutes north), and the St. Lucie River near Phipps Park Campground is one of the best free viewing spots in the area. Pair that with a sunrise paddle on the Loxahatchee River at Jonathan Dickinson State Park, a fresh-catch lunch at Manatee Pocket in Port Salerno, and a sunset on Hutchinson Island for the quintessential Palm City RV camping weekend. Pro tip: book a pet-friendly, delivery-ready RV through RVezy for the easiest launch, then show up with groceries and flip-flops.
