Camping near Palm Valley, Florida
Palm Valley is a census-designated place on San Pablo Island in St. Johns County, Florida, sitting between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic beaches of Ponte Vedra. It falls within the Jacksonville metropolitan area, which puts RV travelers within short drives of two very different bases: historic St. Augustine to the south and the Talbot Islands and Amelia Island to the north.
The community itself is residential and does not contain a campground, so RV renters typically stage at private parks along the A1A corridor or at Florida State Parks a short drive up or down the coast. Options range from wooded barrier-island resorts to full-hookup RV parks closer to the interstate. North Beach Camp Resort, for example, sits on a barrier island between Jacksonville Beach and St. Augustine, roughly a short drive north of the historic district.
Most travelers pair a Palm Valley stay with time at Ponte Vedra Beach, TPC Sawgrass, and the Guana Tolomato Matanzas estuary, then use the same base to reach St. Augustine's Old City or the undeveloped beaches of Little Talbot Island State Park.
Things to do near Palm Valley
The Atlantic beaches sit minutes east of Palm Valley, and the Intracoastal Waterway runs along its western edge, giving renters easy access to swimming, surfing, paddling, and inshore fishing. To the north, Little Talbot Island State Park is one of the few remaining undeveloped barrier islands in Northeast Florida, with more than five miles of beaches and a paved bike path, plus kayak access to Myrtle Creek's salt marshes.
St. Augustine, roughly a half hour south, adds Castillo de San Marcos, the historic district, and Anastasia Island. Guests staying at Sun Outdoors St. Augustine or Stagecoach RV Park have easy access to the Old City and St. Augustine Beach. Families traveling with kids typically split days between beach time, a state park hike, and one history-focused outing in St. Augustine.

Northeast Florida is a shoulder-season destination for RV travelers. Late fall through early spring brings the most comfortable weather and the heaviest demand from snowbirds, so private RV resorts along the coast often run near capacity through the winter and into spring. Book early for holidays, spring break, and the weeks around The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in March.
Summer is hot and humid with afternoon thunderstorms. In Jacksonville, the air can feel uncomfortably humid during the summer months from June to September. Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, with peak activity in late summer and early fall; watch NHC advisories and check park policies before travel. Some coastal state park sites at Little Talbot Island can be affected by high astronomical tides, with road flooding reported near the lowest-lying sites during tides above six feet.
Campfire rules change with local conditions, so confirm current fire status with each park before arrival, especially during dry stretches in late spring.

Our first time renting an RV and we didn’t know what to expect. Delivery of the RV was prompt and Big Jeff set everything up for us. Many of the items we brought were already there for use which was really great. I’m particular about our pillows and towels so we brought those along with our toiletries but everything else was there! Fantastic experience and great service with the delivery, setup and tear down. Would highly recommend.

Meet all our expectations. Will definitely use Big Jeff for future needs.

How to book campgrounds near Palm Valley
Reservation systems split cleanly between public and private. For Little Talbot Island State Park, book through the Florida State Parks reservation system. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance for Florida residents and 10 months in advance for non-residents, either on the Florida State Parks reservations website or by phone at 800-326-3521. Prime weekends in late winter and spring tend to sell out at the earliest window.
Private parks such as North Beach Camp Resort, Sun Outdoors St. Augustine, Fleetwood RV Park, and Stagecoach RV Park take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Sites at the coastal resorts fill quickly during peak snowbird season, so for winter and spring stays, book several months out.
What to expect on the ground
Coastal sites in this area lean toward sandy pads, live oaks draped in Spanish moss, and palmetto understory. Full hookups with 30- and 50-amp service are standard at the larger private resorts, along with laundry, pool, and pet areas. Little Talbot Island State Park has RV sites that can accommodate lengths up to 30 feet, with 20- and 30-amp electricity, fresh water, a fire ring with flip-down grill, picnic table, and clothesline, plus a dump station at the campground exit and two ADA-accessible bathhouses with hot showers.
Cell coverage can be inconsistent inside wooded barrier-island parks, and some state park sites are exposed to high tides. Insects, especially mosquitoes, can be persistent from late spring through early fall; bring repellent, and expect afternoon showers to pass through quickly. Rigs longer than 30 feet cannot use Little Talbot Island; confirm site length before booking at any state park.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Palm%20Valley%2C%20FloridaWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Palm Valley, Florida?
Your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Palm Valley. Florida does not require a special endorsement or commercial license for motorhomes or travel trailers under 26,000 pounds, which covers essentially every RV on RVezy. Approved renters are generally 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID right inside the platform during booking, so there are no extra trips to a DMV office. Visiting from overseas? Bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home-country license. Most first-time renters are surprised how quickly the approval step wraps up.

Every RVezy booking in Palm Valley includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you're covered from the moment you pull out of the driveway. The protection plan helps cover accidental damage to the RV, giving you peace of mind on coastal A1A or longer drives down the Florida coast. You choose your coverage level during checkout, picking the plan that fits your trip and budget. It removes the financial worry that stops many first-timers from booking. You're not locked in the moment you book. RVezy applies a standard cancellation policy to every Palm Valley reservation, including a money-back grace period right after booking so you can change your mind without penalty. The refund window depends on how far out your trip is, and the policy is managed by RVezy rather than the individual host, so you don't have to negotiate listing by listing. Cancellations are handled directly through the RVezy platform. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best Ponte Vedra Beach RVs, knowing the grace period has your back if life shifts.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Palm Valley RV trip?
Absolutely, and Palm Valley is a fantastic spot for it. Many hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental in Palm Valley, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see them instantly. Once you're here, your pup has options: leashed dogs are welcome on the beaches at Mickler's Landing and Ponte Vedra Beach during posted hours, and the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve allows leashed pets on most trails. Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park, about 25 minutes north in Jacksonville, has a fenced off-leash dog beach that locals love. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and bring a portable water bowl for the sandy coastal heat.
gtmnerr.org/Can the RV be delivered to my campground in Palm Valley?
Yes, RV delivery in Palm Valley is one of the smartest ways to enjoy a stress-free first trip. Many RVezy hosts will drive the rig directly to your campground, vacation rental driveway, or event site, then set up hookups, level the RV, and walk you through every system before they leave. This is ideal if you're flying into Jacksonville International Airport, about 35 minutes away, or if you'd rather skip towing a large rig down narrow A1A. Delivery fees typically scale with distance. Pro tip: filter listings by Delivery on RVezy and ask the host about drop-off at Anastasia State Park or North Beach Camp Resort.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Palm%20Valley%2C%20FloridaHow far can I drive on a Palm Valley RV rental?
You've got plenty of range for a great Florida adventure. Most Palm Valley hosts include a daily mileage allowance, typically 100 to 150 miles per day, and many offer RV rental with unlimited mileage as an upgrade or built-in perk. From Palm Valley, popular drives include St. Augustine (25 miles south), Daytona Beach (about 75 miles south), Orlando theme parks (about 140 miles southwest), the Okefenokee Swamp area (about 95 miles north), and Savannah, GA (about 140 miles north). Each is an easy day or weekend trip. Pro tip: if you're planning a longer Florida loop, ask the host about a mileage add-on bundle when you book, it's almost always cheaper than paying per-mile overage at the end.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Palm%20Valley%2C%20FloridaWhere are the best campgrounds near Palm Valley, FL?
You've got excellent options within a short drive. Anastasia State Park in St. Augustine offers 139 oceanfront sites with electric and water hookups, about 25 miles south. North Beach Camp Resort sits between the Tolomato River and the Atlantic with full hookups and shaded sites. Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in Jacksonville has around 293 wooded campsites, a freshwater lake, and beach access nearby. Pelican Roost RV Park at NAS Mayport is a great option if you have military access. Stagecoach RV Park west of St. Augustine offers full hookups and a heated bathhouse. Pro tip: Anastasia books out fast, reserve up to 11 months ahead through the Florida State Parks reservation system.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/anastasia-state-parkWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip in Palm Valley?
Late October through April is the sweet spot for RV camping in Palm Valley. Daytime highs sit comfortably in the 65 to 78 degree F range, humidity drops, mosquitoes ease up, and the Atlantic breeze makes evenings on the beach especially pleasant. March brings The Players Championship to nearby TPC Sawgrass, a huge draw for festival-friendly bookings. Summers from June through September are hot and humid with frequent afternoon thunderstorms, and Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30 with peak risk in August and September. Pro tip: book a shoulder-season trip in early November or late March to snag better nightly rates and still enjoy beach weather without the snowbird crowds.
weather.gov/jax/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in Palm Valley?
You'll do great, and Palm Valley is one of the easier places to ease into RV life. The roads through Ponte Vedra are flat, well-maintained, and posted at reasonable speeds. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering driving, hookups, the awning, slides, holding tanks, and emergency steps, so you're never figuring it out alone. First time renting an RV? Choose a Class C motorhome or campervan, they drive much like a large van. You can also message your host any time during the trip with questions. Pro tip: practice a few right turns in a quiet parking lot near Nocatee before heading down A1A toward St. Augustine.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002180014-For-rentersWhat happens if I have a breakdown during my Palm Valley RV trip?
You're covered around the clock. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so if you get a flat on A1A, a dead battery at Anastasia State Park, or need a tow back from Daytona, one phone call gets help dispatched. Your host is also typically just a message away for quick troubleshooting on quirks like awning controls or generator startup. Florida's flat coastal terrain means most issues are minor, and tow operators are widely available across St. Johns and Duval counties. Pro tip: save the roadside number in your phone before pickup and snap a photo of the RV's VIN plate so dispatch can locate parts quickly.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Palm Valley RV rental out of Florida or to another country?
Yes, interstate travel is generally on the table. Most Palm Valley hosts allow trips throughout the continental US, making an RV road trip from Palm Valley to Savannah, Charleston, or the Smokies a popular choice. Travel into Canada may be allowed with host approval and confirmation of insurance coverage, so message the host before booking if that's your plan. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend across that border. From Palm Valley, easy out-of-state runs include Jekyll Island, GA (about 75 miles), Hilton Head, SC (about 200 miles), and Charleston, SC (about 240 miles). Pro tip: confirm any cross-border plans in writing through RVezy's messaging before departure.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a Palm Valley RV trip?
Fuel is manageable here. Class C motorhomes average 8 to 10 miles per gallon, Class A coaches sit around 6 to 9 mpg, and campervans can hit 16 to 20 mpg. With regular unleaded prices in the Lower Atlantic region tracked by the EIA, a weekend loop to St. Augustine and back from Palm Valley typically costs $40 to $80 in fuel depending on rig size. Diesel pumps are plentiful along US-1 and I-95 if you're renting a diesel coach. Pro tip: fill up at the Costco off Gate Parkway in Jacksonville or the Buc-ee's in Daytona Beach for some of the lowest prices on your motorhome rental Palm Valley adventure.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Palm Valley?
For the best sites, book early. Florida's coast is popular year-round. Florida State Parks like Anastasia, Faver-Dykes, and Little Talbot Island open reservations 11 months in advance through the Florida State Parks reservation system, and prime weekends can fill within minutes of opening. Private parks like North Beach Camp Resort typically book 3 to 6 months ahead for peak winter and spring. Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park, the Jacksonville city campground, takes reservations several months out. Pro tip: if you're planning a Players Championship trip in March or spring break in April, lock down both your Palm Valley RV rental and campground at the same time, ideally 5 to 8 months ahead.
floridastateparks.org/learn/reservationsWhat are driving conditions like around Palm Valley?
Driving an RV around Palm Valley is refreshingly easy. The terrain is flat, roads are well-maintained, and there are no mountain grades to worry about. A1A along the coast is scenic but narrow in spots, so larger Class A rigs do better on US-1 or I-95 for longer hauls. Watch posted clearances on local bridges and avoid lower-clearance routes through downtown Jacksonville. Summer afternoon thunderstorms can drop heavy rain quickly between June and September. Pro tip: avoid I-295 and JTB during weekday rush hours (7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.) and you'll glide through the Jacksonville metro with no stress. Check FL511 for live traffic before you roll.
fl511.com/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Palm Valley?
You'll find solid amenities across the board. Most RV parks near Palm Valley offer full hookups (30/50 amp electric, water, and sewer), clean bathhouses, laundry, and Wi-Fi. Anastasia State Park has water and electric at sites with dump stations on the way out. North Beach Camp Resort offers full hookups plus a pool and camp store. Public dump stations are also available at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park and several truck stops along I-95. Potable water fill-ups are easy at any full-hookup park or state park entrance. Pro tip: overnight RV parking outside a campground is restricted in this area, so stick to reserved sites for a relaxed trip.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/anastasia-state-parkWhat's included inside a typical Palm Valley RV rental?
Palm Valley RV rentals come fully equipped for beach life. Expect a real bed (often a queen), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink, and cookware, plus a bathroom with a toilet and shower. Most Class C motorhomes and travel trailers seat 4 to 8 with seatbelts, and many include rooftop air conditioning (a must for Florida humidity), a TV, and an onboard generator for off-grid stops. Wi-Fi is often available as an add-on or via a host-provided hotspot. Campervans are more compact but still offer sleeping, cooking, and AC. Pro tip: when browsing campervan rental Palm Valley listings, check the listing photos and amenities checklist for outdoor showers, perfect after a day at Mickler's Beach.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Palm%20Valley%2C%20FloridaWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Hosts offer genuinely useful extras to make your family RV trip Palm Valley smoother. Popular add-ons include linen and kitchen packages, generator hours, bike racks, beach chairs, paddleboards, portable grills, and Wi-Fi hotspots. Many hosts also offer delivery and setup to local campgrounds like Anastasia State Park or to private homes around Ponte Vedra. Pickup is typically at the host's driveway in the Palm Valley, Nocatee, or Ponte Vedra Beach area, with walkthroughs lasting 30 to 60 minutes. Mileage policies are clearly shown on each booking page. Pro tip: ask about a beach gear bundle, many hosts have surfboards or chairs ready to throw in.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Palm%20Valley%2C%20FloridaHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is straightforward and fully handled through RVezy, no cash or off-platform transfers with the host. You pay securely online with a credit card when you book, and your host receives funds after the trip starts. A refundable security deposit is held separately on your card before pickup, typically a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the RV, and it's released after the rig is returned in the same condition. To avoid any issues, take dated photos and a short video of the RV inside and out at pickup and drop-off. Pro tip: do your walkthrough with the host present and note any pre-existing dings in the RVezy app, it keeps your Palm Valley RV trip wrap-up smooth and refund-fast.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat are the best road trip destinations from Palm Valley?
Palm Valley is a launchpad for some of the Southeast's best RV routes. Head about 25 miles south to St. Augustine, the oldest continuously occupied European settlement in the US, for historic forts and cobblestone streets. Drive about 75 miles south to Daytona Beach for hard-packed sand you can park on in designated areas. Push about 140 miles southwest to Orlando for Disney and Universal. Go about 75 miles north to Cumberland Island, GA for wild horses and untouched beaches. Or aim about 140 miles north to Savannah for Spanish moss and southern charm. Each is doable as a long weekend RV road trip from Palm Valley. Pro tip: combine St. Augustine and Daytona into one southbound loop and stay at Faver-Dykes State Park in between for a quiet overnight.
