Water activities dominate. Boyd's Key West Campground has a marina with boat slips, a heated pool, and 24-hour security, and campers use it as a launch point for snorkeling, diving, and reef fishing. Geiger Key RV Park is built around a working fish camp and marina, with charter fishing, kayak and paddleboard rentals through its on-site Paddle Hut, and mangrove trails that can be paddled directly from the property. From Stock Island, downtown Key West is roughly four miles: Mallory Square sunsets, the Hemingway Home, Fort Zachary Taylor State Park, and the Southernmost Point marker. Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, peaking in August and September. Tropical systems can trigger mandatory evacuations of the Keys and close US-1. Lower Keys RV parks tend to be compact. Sites at Boyd's Key West Campground are known to be tight, though the park is gated and staffed and offers 24-hour security. Geiger Key RV Park has 36 waterfront sites, all back-in, with full hookups and 30-amp service, and check-in runs 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with after-hours arrival by prior arrangement. Expect full hookups with 30 or 50-amp service at several Stock Island area parks, on-site laundry and showers, and Wi-Fi of variable quality. Geiger Key is not child-friendly and has no pool or beach on site. Pet policies vary widely; several parks require pre-approval and a signed pet agreement, so confirmation before booking is important.
