Campgrounds and RV parks near Chickamauga, GA

Chickamauga sits in northwest Georgia along the southern edge of the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, roughly 20 minutes south of downtown Chattanooga and within easy reach of Lookout Mountain. The surrounding Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park preserves over 9,000 acres of native woodland, but the park's campground is not open to the general public and is reserved for organized non-profit (501c) youth groups under adult supervision for educational visits, so RV travelers rely on private parks and Georgia state parks in the surrounding area. Holiday Travel Park of Chattanooga and Hawkins Pointe RV Park serve travelers who want full hookups and quick highway access, while Round Pond Retreat offers a quieter rural setting. Raccoon Mountain Caverns & Campground, a short drive across the Tennessee line, pairs RV and tent sites with an on-site cave system and pool. For a state park experience, East Rim at Cloudland Canyon State Park sits on the western edge of Lookout Mountain about 30 minutes from Chickamauga, with electric and water sites, a dump station, and immediate access to canyon overlooks and waterfall trails.

Cloudland Canyon State Park uses the Georgia State Parks reservation system through ReserveAmerica. Reservations can be made up to 13 months in advance, and Georgia residents may make reservations up to 14 months in advance. Reservations are strongly encouraged because the park is one of the most popular in Georgia. A ParkPass is required for all vehicles and is not included in reservation fees. Private parks such as Holiday Travel Park of Chattanooga, Hawkins Pointe RV Park, Round Pond Retreat, and Raccoon Mountain Caverns & Campground book directly through their own websites or third-party platforms. The National Park Service campground at the battlefield is not for public use and is only available for organized non-profit youth groups. For peak weekends in spring, summer, and October, secure sites several months out.
