Campgrounds and RV parks near Country Club Estates, GA

Jekyll Island is the primary draw. Driftwood Beach is a half-mile from the campground, while the park also houses 24 miles of trails for hikers and bikers to explore. Popular attractions like the fishing pier at Clam Creek and historic sites are within a short bike ride or drive. The island is also home to a Historic District, the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, Summer Waves Water Park, a marina, and several golf courses. On the mainland, downtown Brunswick offers historic squares, shrimp docks, and restaurants. St. Simons Island is a short drive across the causeway and includes the lighthouse, Neptune Park, and Fort Frederica National Monument. Day trips reach the Altamaha Wildlife Management Area for cypress swamplands and wildlife viewing. Kayak launches, dolphin tours, and salt marsh boat charters run from several public landings in Glynn County.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV camping on the Georgia coast. March, April, May, October and November typically offer the most optimal weather in Brunswick. Daytime highs sit in the seventies, humidity is manageable, and biting insects are less aggressive than in midsummer. Reservations are highly recommended during spring break, summer, and holiday weeks, when sites fill quickly across the Golden Isles. Summer brings hot, humid days with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. The wettest month, August, receives heavy rainfall, with an average of 194 mm of precipitation. The Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, with peak activity in August and September, so travelers should monitor NOAA National Hurricane Center advisories. Winter is mild by North American standards and popular with snowbirds. January is the coldest month of the year, registering average temperatures as high as 60.4°F and as low as 47.7°F. Cooler temperatures mean fewer crowds and easier campground reservations, though some parks impose longer minimum stays around Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day.

Expect coastal Georgia conditions: humidity, live oaks with Spanish moss, sandy or crushed-shell pads, and salt air. Jekyll Island has 179 campsites (167 with full hookups) on 18 wooded acres within walking distance to Clam Creek and Driftwood Beach, plus twelve primitive tent campsites. The full hookup sites have 30 and 50 amps, TV, water and sewer. Amenities include drinking water, two bathhouses with flush toilets and hot-water showers, laundry facilities, a special event pavilion, and a camp store. Sites can feel close together during busy seasons, and mosquitoes are common in warmer months, so bring insect repellent for dawn and dusk. Cell signal is generally reliable on major carriers, though campground Wi-Fi performance varies. Visitors should also budget for the separate parking fee that Jekyll Island charges for entering the island.
