Campgrounds near Dock Junction
Dock Junction is an unincorporated community in Glynn County, Georgia, part of the Brunswick metropolitan area on the state's Atlantic coast. It sits within the Golden Isles region, minutes from the F.J. Torras Causeway to St. Simons Island and the Jekyll Island Causeway, making it a practical base for RV travelers exploring coastal Georgia.
RV options cluster in two groups. Mainland parks near I-95 and US 17 include Southern Retreat RV Park, Coastal GA RV Resort, and Inland Harbor RV Park, all convenient for big-rig travelers moving along the Florida-to-Carolina corridor. North toward Darien, Legacy RV Resort offers a newer, amenity-focused option near the shrimping village. On the barrier islands, Jekyll Island Campground provides 179 total campsites under live oaks about a half-mile from Driftwood Beach.
Most parks in the area operate year-round, with peak demand aligned to Georgia coastal beach season and the Golden Isles' event calendar. Sites range from full-hookup pull-throughs on concrete pads to shaded back-in and tent options.
Things to do near Dock Junction
The nearest coastal draws are Jekyll Island and St. Simons Island. On Jekyll, families can bike the paved multi-use trail system that circles the island, walk Driftwood Beach, tour the Historic Wharf District, and visit the sea turtle rehabilitation center. Jekyll Island Golf Club is the largest public course in the state.
Further south, Cumberland Island is only accessible by ferry or private boat from St. Marys, offering undeveloped beaches, wild horses, maritime forest, and historic ruins across roughly 36,000 acres. To the north, the Altamaha Wildlife Management Area near Darien offers cypress swamps and paddling.
Brunswick itself has a walkable historic downtown, fresh coastal seafood, and inshore, offshore, and Gulfstream fishing access via the Brunswick River and Intracoastal Waterway.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel on the Georgia coast. March through May brings warming days, longer sunlight, and lower humidity than summer, with the ocean still cool for swimming in early spring. Mid-October through November typically delivers mild afternoons, drier air, and thinning crowds.
Summer runs hot and humid, with July daytime highs near 90°F and afternoon thunderstorms occurring during the warmer months. It is also the busiest season for beach traffic on Jekyll and St. Simons, so campsite demand at Jekyll Island Campground and mainland parks peaks around holidays and school breaks.
Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, with peak activity from mid-August to late October. Coastal campgrounds and ferry services can close or evacuate on short notice when a named storm approaches, so RV travelers should monitor the National Hurricane Center and Glynn County advisories during that window. Winter is mild and quiet, and a workable shoulder for snowbirds.

How to book
Private RV parks in the Dock Junction area take reservations directly through their websites or by phone, and many list availability on booking platforms such as Campspot. Jekyll Island Campground allows online reservations, with individual campsite descriptions displayed while booking that include site features and limitations. The campsite has a two-night minimum on Friday-Saturday or Saturday-Sunday nights, as well as a three-night minimum for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, and Labor Day. Maximum stay is 14 nights, with no longer-term stays available, and cancellations are handled through the campground office.
For Cumberland Island National Seashore camping, a permit is required to camp in any of the five camping areas, reserved through Recreation.gov, and visitors must take a boat to the island, with most arriving via the Cumberland Island Ferry from St. Marys, Georgia. Check ferry schedules before locking in camping dates, as service does not run every day of the week in winter.
What to expect on-site
Mainland parks near Dock Junction are built for RV travel, with full hookups, 30/50-amp service, paved or concrete pads, laundry, and pools at parks such as Coastal GA RV Resort. Southern Retreat RV Park carries a large site count with both 30- and 50-amp options and pull-throughs for big rigs. Inland Harbor RV Park, off I-95 near Darien, is similarly big-rig friendly.
On Jekyll Island, expect RV sites among the magnificent oaks draped with Spanish moss, close spacing during busy weeks, and a separate parking fee charged when entering the island. Cell coverage and Wi-Fi can be inconsistent in the maritime forest.
Mosquitoes can be prevalent, which is typical for coastal Georgia, and afternoon thunderstorms are typical from June through September. Pack accordingly.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Dock Junction, GA
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Dock Junction, GA?
An RV rental in Dock Junction is one of the most affordable ways to enjoy coastal Georgia. On RVezy, prices in the Brunswick and Dock Junction area typically start around $125 to $150 per night, with travel trailers being the most budget-friendly and Class A motorhomes at the higher end. To find a cheap RV rental in Dock Junction, aim for shoulder season (March or November), book mid-week, and choose a towable trailer with delivery so you skip towing logistics. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Dock%20Junction%2C%20GeorgiaWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Dock Junction, Georgia?

Georgia does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement for personal-use motorhomes or travel trailers you'll find on RVezy, including Class A, Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and fifth wheels. You'll need to be 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID directly through the platform during checkout, so there's no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're set. Most first-time renters are surprised how quick the verification process is.

help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat's the cancellation policy if my Dock Junction plans change?
Booking is low-risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and it includes a money-back grace period right after booking so you can change your mind without penalty. Refund amounts after that depend on how far out you cancel before your trip start date. Since the policy isn't displayed on individual listings, review the cancellation terms on the checkout page before you confirm, or reach out to RVezy support if you have questions. If a host cancels on you, RVezy will refund you or provide travel credits. The bottom line: you can plan your Brunswick, Jekyll Island, or St. Simons getaway with confidence knowing flexibility is built in.

Popular delivery destinations include Blythe Island Regional Park (about 6 miles away), Golden Isles RV Resort, and Jekyll Island Campground. Delivery fees usually scale with distance, and many hosts deliver free within a set radius of Brunswick. If city driving or backing into a campsite makes you nervous, delivery turns your trip into a true vacation. Just message the host before booking to confirm your destination.

gastateparks.org/CrookedRiverWhen is the best time to visit Dock Junction in an RV?
The sweet spot is mid-October through late April. Coastal Georgia's climate is humid subtropical, so spring (March to May) and fall (October to November) deliver pleasant 65 to 80 degree F days, lower humidity, and fewer bugs that make RV camping in Dock Junction shine. Winter is mild (highs in the low 60s, nights in the 40s) and a favorite of snowbirds heading south on I-95. Summer is hot (90 degrees F and above) and humid with afternoon thunderstorms and an active Atlantic hurricane season from June through November, though beach lovers still flock here. Pro tip: book a March trip to catch blooming azaleas and local festivals before the summer crowds arrive.
weather.gov/jax/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in Dock Junction?
You've got this, and you're not alone. First time renting an RV is the norm on RVezy, and every host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup that covers driving tips, leveling, hookups, the generator, holding tanks, and propane. Dock Junction is an ideal place to start: roads here are flat, wide, and well-marked, with easy I-95 access and short drives to nearby campgrounds. If you'd rather skip the driving entirely, choose a host who offers delivery and setup so the RV is waiting at your campsite. You can also message any host with questions before booking. Pro tip: start with a Class C motorhome or small travel trailer for the easiest learning curve.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/rv-safetyWhat happens if I break down during my Dock Junction RV trip?
You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so a flat tire on the Sidney Lanier Bridge, a dead battery at Blythe Island, or an engine issue on I-95 is one phone call away from help. The roadside team can dispatch a tow, jumpstart, tire change, fuel delivery, or lockout service, and RVezy's support team is available before, during, and after every trip. Your host is also a great first call for quick fixes since they know their RV inside and out. Save both numbers in your phone at pickup. Most renters never need to use roadside, but knowing it's there lets you relax and enjoy the Golden Isles.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best RV road trips from Dock Junction?
You're sitting at the gateway of one of the South's best RV corridors. Top RV road trip from Dock Junction routes include: the Golden Isles loop (St. Simons, Sea Island, Jekyll Island, all within 20 miles), Cumberland Island via St. Marys (40 miles south), Savannah and Tybee Island (80 to 100 miles north), Okefenokee Swamp Park (60 miles west), and Amelia Island, Florida (50 miles south). Cross-state travel into Florida is welcomed on most rentals, but travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy because insurance won't cover it. If you're eyeing Canada, confirm with your host before booking. Pro tip: a 7-day coastal loop from Dock Junction to Charleston and back is a perfect first big RV trip.
nps.gov/cuis/index.htmHow much should I budget for fuel on a Dock Junction RV trip?
Fuel is usually the second-biggest expense after the rental itself, and it's easy to plan for. Most Class C motorhomes around Dock Junction get 8 to 12 MPG, Class B campervans manage 16 to 20 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (typically 10 to 14 MPG). Georgia gas prices tend to run below the national average, and there are plenty of stations along I-95, US-17, and US-341 with truck-friendly pumps. For a 4-day, 400-mile loop around the Golden Isles in a Class C, budget roughly $150 to $200 for fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Brunswick before heading to Jekyll Island, where prices on the island often run higher.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campground near Dock Junction?
Book early and you'll get your pick. Georgia State Parks (including nearby Crooked River and Skidaway Island) accept reservations up to 13 months out, and oceanfront sites at Jekyll Island Campground go fast for spring break, Memorial Day, July 4th, and fall weekends. For peak season (March to May, October to November), reserve 3 to 6 months ahead. Blythe Island Regional Park is reserved through Glynn County and books up on holiday weekends but usually has openings mid-week. Golden Isles RV Resort and Coastal Georgia RV Resort take direct reservations and are great backup options. Pro tip: set a calendar alert for the 13-month state-park reservation window to snag premier coastal sites.
gastateparks.org/ReservationsWhat are driving conditions like around Dock Junction?
Driving here is refreshingly easy. The Dock Junction area is flat, with wide highways, low traffic outside rush hour, and well-signed routes to every major attraction. I-95 runs right past town, US-17 heads to the islands, and the Sidney Lanier Bridge to Jekyll Island has wide lanes that handle any motorhome comfortably (just watch for crosswinds). Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, so check NOAA before any summer or fall trip and avoid driving in tropical storm conditions. Coastal fog can appear at dawn, so plan departures for after sunrise. There are no mountain passes or tight switchbacks, making this one of the easiest regions in the Southeast for a first-time motorhome driver.

A refundable security deposit is held separately to cover incidentals like extra cleaning, late returns, or minor damage not covered by your protection plan. The amount is shown on the listing before you book. Avoid issues by doing a walk-around video at pickup and dropoff, returning the RV clean with tanks emptied, and refueling to the starting level. Your deposit is typically released back to you within 7 days of trip end.
