Campgrounds near Jasper, Georgia
Jasper sits in Pickens County at the southern edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains, roughly an hour north of Atlanta on Highway 515. The town works well as an RV base for the north Georgia foothills, with private resorts, wooded state park campgrounds, and river-side options all within a short drive.
Closest to town, Diamond Lure Campground and RV Resort and Plum Nelly Campground offer full-hookup sites suited to travel trailers and larger rigs. A short drive west, Talona Ridge RV Resort sits on a plateau above East Ellijay with concrete pads, full hookups, and wide mountain views.
For state-park camping, Amicalola Falls State Park lies to the east and is a popular starting point for trips into the Appalachian backcountry leading up the Appalachian Trail near Springer Mountain. North of Jasper along the Toccoa River, Toccoa Valley Campgrounds provides a more rustic riverside option. Together these sites cover most RV needs, from resort-style stays to tent-friendly mountain forest camping.
Things to do near Jasper
Amicalola Falls State Park is the anchor attraction. Amicalola Falls is home to the tallest cascading waterfall in Georgia, and short loop trails, an observation deck, and the Approach Trail to Springer Mountain all start inside the park. On-site activities include archery lessons at the lodge range and a lodge restaurant with valley views.
Ellijay, about 20 minutes north, is known as Georgia's apple capital and hosts orchards, wineries, and a walkable downtown square. The Toccoa and Cartecay rivers draw tubers, kayakers, and fly fishers in warmer months.
Back in Jasper, families use the town as a base for day hikes in the Chattahoochee National Forest, drives on the Blue Ridge scenic byways, and short trips to Dahlonega and Blue Ridge.

Spring and fall are the busiest seasons. March and April are the busiest camping months at Amicalola Falls as many hikers arrive to embark upon the Appalachian Trail, and campsites at the park book heavily during this window. Wildflowers, moderate temperatures, and long daylight hours make spring a strong choice for RV travel, though afternoon thunderstorms are common.
Summer is warm and humid with highs in the mid-80s Fahrenheit and frequent afternoon storms. It is peak family season, and private resorts near Ellijay and Jasper fill on weekends. Book several weeks out for holiday periods.
Fall foliage in this area typically peaks at the end of October and early November, and weekend sites at Amicalola Falls and nearby private parks are often reserved months in advance. Winter is the quietest season. Days are cool, nights can drop below freezing, and occasional snow or ice is possible at higher elevations, but many private RV parks in the area remain open year-round.
How to book near Jasper
Campsites at Amicalola Falls State Park are reserved through the Georgia State Parks reservation system online or by phone. Reservations can be made up to 13 months in advance, and Georgia residents may make reservations up to 14 months in advance. Lodge rooms, cabins, and glamping tents are handled through the Amicalola Falls Lodge separately.
A daily Georgia ParkPass is required for all vehicles entering the state park, and an annual pass is available for frequent visitors.
Private campgrounds including Diamond Lure Campground and RV Resort, Plum Nelly Campground, Talona Ridge RV Resort, and Toccoa Valley Campgrounds each take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. For fall foliage weekends and the March to April Appalachian Trail hiking window, book as soon as dates open.
What to expect near Jasper
Roads into the campgrounds around Jasper are mountain roads. Highway 515 is a well-maintained four-lane corridor, but the final approach to Amicalola Falls climbs a steep grade with tight turns, and some private parks sit on winding secondary roads. Drivers of large rigs should plan routes in advance.
Sites vary widely. Talona Ridge is big-rig friendly with oversized concrete pads and full hookups. Amicalola Falls State Park has campsites for RVs, travel trailers and pop-ups with utilities, fire rings, tables and graded gravel pads.
Cell coverage is generally adequate in Jasper and Ellijay but drops in the deeper hollows and inside the state park. Black bears live in these mountains, so food and trash should be stored inside the RV or in provided containers overnight.

help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Jasper RV rental?
You can book with confidence: RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and there is a grace-period window after booking where you can cancel for a full refund. After that, your refund depends on how far out from your trip start you cancel, and RVezy also reviews extraordinary circumstances like natural disasters, which can matter in North Georgia where summer tropical storms or winter ice events occasionally roll through Pickens County. The cancellation policy is not displayed on individual listings because it's a platform-wide RVezy process. If severe weather is in the Jasper forecast, contact RVezy support early. Booking earlier also gives you the most flexibility to adjust if plans change.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Jasper, GA?
Yes, plenty of hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental in Jasper for travelers bringing furry family members. Once you have the keys, Jasper is a dream for dog owners: Amicalola Falls State Park welcomes leashed pets on most trails, Fort Mountain State Park has miles of pet-approved hiking, and Carters Lake has dog-friendly shorelines for a swim after a hot day. Pack a tie-out and a collapsible water bowl, since North Georgia summers regularly push into the upper 80s and pups need shade and hydration on the trail.
gastateparks.org/PetsInParksCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Jasper?
Yes, RV delivery in Jasper is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game changer if you are a first-timer. Many local hosts will drive the RV directly to your campsite at Amicalola Falls State Park, Fort Mountain State Park, Talona Ridge RV Resort, or even a private property, then level it, hook up water, power, and sewer, and walk you through every system before they leave. To arrange it, filter by Delivery on RVezy, then message hosts with your campground name and dates to confirm mileage fees (typically charged per mile from their home base). Delivery is especially valuable for Class A or fifth wheel rentals, since you skip mountain-road towing entirely.

State park sites book through the official Georgia State Parks reservation system up to 13 months ahead, so lock in fall foliage weekends as early as possible.
gastateparks.org/AmicalolaFallsWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip in Jasper, GA?
Jasper is a year-round RV destination thanks to its humid subtropical climate, and each season offers something different. Spring (April to May) brings 70°F days, blooming dogwoods, and Appalachian Trail thru-hiker energy at Amicalola Falls. Summer (June to August) averages highs in the mid 80s with afternoon thunderstorms, perfect for Carters Lake swims. Fall (mid-October to early November) is the showstopper, with red and gold foliage across the Blue Ridge and crisp 60 to 70°F days. Winters are mild for the South (highs in the upper 40s, lows around freezing), making it a good budget season for campers who don't mind a chilly night. Book fall weekends six-plus months in advance, it's the busiest season.
weather.gov/ffc/I've never rented an RV before. Will I know how to use it?
You'll be in great hands. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup (or at your campsite if you choose delivery), walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water hookups, propane, AC, awning, and waste tanks. Most owners also leave a printed cheat sheet inside the RV. If it is your first time renting an RV in Jasper, GA, pick a Class C motorhome or a small travel trailer, both are easy to maneuver on winding mountain roads like GA-515 and SR-136. You can also message your host anytime during the trip with questions, and RVezy's 24/7 support team has your back. Take a short shake-down drive around Jasper before heading to higher elevations.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002180034-RentersWhat if I break down during my RV rental in Jasper, GA?
Take a breath, you are covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so if you get a flat on GA-515, a dead battery at Fort Mountain, or a mechanical issue heading toward Springer Mountain, help is one phone call away. The roadside team handles tows, tire changes, jump-starts, lockouts, and fuel delivery. Your host is also your direct line for RV-specific quirks (where's the breaker? how do I reset the GFCI?), and they typically respond fast. Save the RVezy support number and your host's number in your phone before you leave town, mountain cell coverage in spots like the Cohutta Wilderness can be spotty.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Jasper RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is welcome on most RVezy rentals out of Jasper, GA, and it's how many guests build epic loops, think Jasper to the Great Smokies in Tennessee (about 150 miles), Asheville, NC (about 180 miles), or down to Savannah's coast (around 300 miles). Cross-border travel into Canada generally requires host approval, so message before booking to confirm coverage applies for your route. Mexico travel is not permitted on RVezy rentals. A popular RV road trip from Jasper runs north on US-19 through the Nantahala National Forest, one of the most scenic drives in the Southeast.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage should I budget for my Jasper RV trip?
Plan smart and fuel won't blow your budget. Expect roughly 8 to 10 miles per gallon for a Class A motorhome, 10 to 14 MPG for a Class C, 16 to 20 MPG for a campervan rental in Jasper (Class B), and similar truck-MPG numbers when towing a travel trailer or fifth wheel. Georgia gas prices typically run a bit below the national average, and you will find plenty of large-vehicle-friendly stations along GA-515 in Jasper and Ellijay. For a typical 200-mile weekend loop in a Class C, budget around $80 to $100 in fuel. Fill up before heading into the Chattahoochee National Forest, stations get sparse past Suches and Blue Ridge.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campground near Jasper, GA?
For the most popular spots, the earlier the better. Georgia State Parks (including Amicalola Falls and Fort Mountain) open reservations up to 13 months in advance through the official Georgia State Parks reservation system, and fall foliage weekends from mid-October through early November sell out months ahead. Summer weekends at Carters Lake and Amicalola typically need 4 to 6 months of lead time, while weekdays and winter often have same-week availability. Private parks like Talona Ridge RV Resort and Blue Ridge / Toccoa River KOA also book up fast for holiday weekends. If your dream site is taken, set a reservation alert, cancellations happen often, especially 2 to 3 weeks before peak weekends.
gastateparks.org/ReservationsWhat are the driving conditions like around Jasper, GA?
Driving an RV around Jasper is very manageable once you know what to expect. The main artery is the four-lane GA-515 (Appalachian Highway), which is wide, well-graded, and RV-friendly all the way from Atlanta up through Blue Ridge. Side roads heading to Amicalola Falls (SR-52 and SR-183) are twistier with steeper grades, and the access road into Fort Mountain State Park has steep sections, so use lower gears descending. Stay alert for sudden afternoon thunderstorms in summer and occasional black ice on shaded mountain roads in January. Avoid driving I-575/GA-515 southbound on Sunday evenings during peak leaf season, traffic can crawl back toward Atlanta.
dot.ga.gov/What amenities should I expect at campgrounds near Jasper, GA?
You'll find a great mix. Full-hookup parks like Talona Ridge RV Resort and Blue Ridge / Toccoa River KOA offer 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer, Wi-Fi, laundry, bathhouses, and often a pool. Georgia State Parks like Amicalola Falls and Fort Mountain typically provide water and electric at each site with shared dump stations near the exit, plus clean bathhouses with hot showers. Most campgrounds have on-site potable water fills, and dump stations along GA-515 are easy to find. At Amicalola, ask about sites near the lodge for easier access to the restaurant and visitor center, perfect for an end-of-hike meal after climbing to the falls overlook.
gastateparks.org/FortMountainWhat's typically included inside an RV rental in Jasper, GA?
Most rentals come fully outfitted so you can roll in and start camping. Expect a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower, comfortable beds (typically a queen plus convertible dinette or sofa), heating and air conditioning, propane, fresh and waste water tanks, and seatbelts for travel. Many hosts also include a generator for boondocking, a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor camp chairs, and basic kitchenware. Wi-Fi varies, some larger Class A motorhome rentals in Jasper offer it, but cell-based hotspots are common given the mountain terrain. Always check the listing's amenity list and message the host about must-haves like coffee makers or linens, and ask if a starter kit (toilet paper, soap, dish towels) is included.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Jasper,%20GeorgiaWhat add-ons and options can I get with my Jasper RV rental?
You can customize your trip in lots of fun ways. Common host add-ons include bike racks, kayaks or paddleboards (perfect for Carters Lake), camp chairs and tables, propane fire pits, generator rentals, linen and bedding packages, and tow-vehicle add-ons for travel trailers. Mileage policies vary: many hosts offer 100 to 150 free miles per day with extra miles billed at $0.30 to $0.50 each, while others offer RV rental with unlimited mileage for a flat fee. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Jasper or Ball Ground, and drop-off times are typically late morning. Ask about a generator add-on if you are heading to Forest Service sites without hookups near the Cohutta Wilderness.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Jasper,%20GeorgiaHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
It's straightforward and secure. When you book an RV rental in Jasper, GA, you pay through RVezy's platform (never directly to the host) using a credit or debit card. A refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your card before the trip starts, separate from the booking payment, and it's released after drop-off if there is no damage or policy violation. The renter protection plan you choose during booking covers most accidental damage, so the deposit is really for items like excessive cleaning, missing equipment, or unpaid mileage and generator overages. Do a thorough video walkaround at pickup and drop-off, it's the single best way to ensure your deposit comes back fast and stress-free.
