Campgrounds and RV parks near Rock Spring, GA

Rock Spring sits in the valley east of Lookout Mountain in Walker County, Georgia, roughly a half hour south of Chattanooga. The area works as a base for RV travelers who want state park hiking one day and city attractions the next, with Rock City Gardens, Chickamauga Battlefield, and Cloudland Canyon all within easy driving range. Campground options range from private RV parks close to town to state park loops on the canyon rim. Round Pond Retreat and Hawkins Pointe RV Park sit closest to Rock Spring, Holiday Travel Park of Chattanooga covers the run north toward the city, and the East Rim and West Rim campgrounds at Cloudland Canyon State Park handle rigs that want to stay inside the park. Cloudland Canyon is the anchor public land in the region, a park of more than 3,500 acres on the western edge of Lookout Mountain featuring sandstone cliffs, waterfalls, and the gorge cut by Sitton Gulch Creek. Elevation inside the park runs from about 800 feet up past 1,800 feet, which keeps summer nights a few degrees cooler than the valley floor.

The East Rim and West Rim campgrounds at Cloudland Canyon State Park are reserved through the Georgia State Parks system, either online at GaStateParks.org or by phone at 1-800-864-7275. Out-of-state visitors can book up to 13 months in advance, and Georgia residents get a 14-month window, with residency verified at check-in. Georgia State Parks require a 50 percent deposit at booking to hold a reservation, with the balance due at check-in. Reservations made 14 days or fewer before arrival require payment in full. A ParkPass is required for every vehicle and is separate from the campsite fee. Private parks in the area, including Round Pond Retreat, Hawkins Pointe RV Park, and Holiday Travel Park of Chattanooga, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Weekends from April through October and any fall foliage window fill first.
