Campgrounds and RV parks near Boonville, IN

Lincoln State Park anchors most day trips. The park includes 240 campsites and 25 rental cabins alongside 10 miles of trails, two lakes for paddling, and the Lincoln Amphitheatre. The adjacent Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial adds a living historical farm and the Nancy Hanks Lincoln gravesite. Holiday World and Splashin' Safari in Santa Claus is a short drive east and works well as a family day from any nearby campground. Anglers head to Scales Lake and to the ponds and backwaters near Miles Landing Campground. John James Audubon State Park offers camping, golf, fishing, hiking, tennis, picnicking, and playgrounds, plus an on-site museum of original Audubon works. Downtown Evansville adds riverfront trails, a zoo, and casino entertainment within a 30-minute drive of most campgrounds.

Southwest Indiana has a long, humid summer and a short, cool winter. Peak RV season runs from late April through mid-October, with the heaviest demand around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day weekends. Fall is a strong shoulder season: color typically peaks in the last two weeks of October, and daytime temperatures stay comfortable into early November. Spring brings the region's wettest stretch. Most precipitation falls in April, with an average of 131 mm, and severe-weather watches are routine, so rigs with awnings should be tied down. Riverside and low-lying sites can flood after prolonged rain. Winter access varies by park. Kentucky State Parks cannot guarantee the availability of water at campgrounds during inclement weather months when freezing temperatures are possible, so travelers should contact the park directly before arriving in cold months. The John James Audubon State Park campground is open mid-March to mid-November. Private parks in the area tend to stay open with limited winter amenities.

Most public sites in the region are back-in with 30/50-amp electric; full hookups are more common at private parks. Sites at Lake Lincoln Campgrounds provide access to electricity for 30 and 50-amp rigs and can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 50 feet in length, with each site featuring a picnic table, fire ring, and gravel pad. Restrooms, showers, and grey water disposal stations are centrally located around the campground. Cell service is generally reliable across Warrick and Spencer counties on major carriers, though it thins inside heavily wooded loops. Firewood rules matter here: Kentucky parks prohibit the importation of firewood by campers from any state outside of Kentucky to help prevent the introduction of the Emerald Ash Borer, and firewood is available for sale in the state park campgrounds. At Lincoln State Park, campgrounds are open year-round, however water may not be available in the winter months.
