Campgrounds and RV parks near Lowden, IA

Lowden sits in Cedar County in eastern Iowa, roughly midway between the Quad Cities and Cedar Rapids and a short drive north of Interstate 80. The surrounding area is rolling farmland cut by the Cedar and Wapsipinicon river valleys, with limestone bluff country beginning about an hour to the northeast. RV travelers use Lowden as a quiet base for river camping, state park visits, and Mississippi River day trips. Options in the area range from full-service private RV parks to a state park campground with limestone caves. Cedar River Campground near Tipton offers riverfront sites with hookups and family activities, while Hidden River Campgrounds provides another private option nearby. Cedar Valley Grove Campground rounds out the closer choices for travelers who want simple, near-town camping. For a nature-focused trip, Maquoketa Caves State Park Campground lies northeast in Jackson County, and Interstate RV Park works well as an interstate stopover along I-80.

For Iowa state parks, book through the state's reservation system at iowastateparks.reserveamerica.com or by phone. Campsite reservations can be made up to three months in advance, and same-day sites may still be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Same-day online reservations at Maquoketa Caves are accepted until 10 p.m. Central time. At Maquoketa Caves, sites go fast because the campground is small, so reservations fill up quickly. Private parks such as Cedar River Campground and Interstate RV Park take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Holiday weekends should be locked in several weeks ahead. Check rig-length limits before booking, especially at state park loops, and confirm hookup type since not all sites offer full service.
