Campgrounds and RV parks near New London, IA

New London sits in Henry County in southeast Iowa, about six miles south of the Skunk River valley and roughly fifteen miles west of the Mississippi River at Burlington. The area is rural and rolling, with oak and hickory woodlands, small lakes, and farm country. RV travelers use it as a base for state park camping, county parks, and small private RV parks along the Highway 34 and Highway 218 corridors. The closest destination campground is Geode State Park, which surrounds a lake and is managed by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Crossroads RV Park sits near the junction of Highways 218 and 34 in nearby Mount Pleasant and is a common overnight stop for travelers on the Avenue of the Saints route. Midwest Old Threshers Campground, also in Mount Pleasant, hosts the annual five-day reunion that draws tens of thousands of visitors and turns the campground into a small city of its own. Additional nearby options include Updog RV and Camping and Duck Haven RV Campground, both within a short drive of New London.

Sites at Geode State Park are booked through the Iowa State Parks reservation system, which uses ReserveAmerica. The campground offers both electric and non-electric sites, along with a dump station and modern shower buildings, and takes reservations during its open season. Midwest Old Threshers Campground handles reunion-week reservations by phone, with reserved sites opening to the public in February. Crossroads RV Park, Updog RV and Camping, and Duck Haven RV Campground take direct bookings and are typically the fastest options for last-minute overnight stops along Highways 218 and 34.
