Campgrounds and RV parks near Riceville, IA

Riceville sits in northeast Iowa near the Minnesota border, in Howard and Mitchell counties along the Wapsipinicon River. The area is farm country transitioning into the Driftless Region to the east, with rolling terrain, hardwood pockets, and small lakes rather than big-name destinations. That makes it a practical basecamp for RV travelers exploring both northern Iowa and the bluff country of southeastern Minnesota. Campground options within roughly a half-hour to an hour of town include Lake Louise State Park just across the state line north of LeRoy, Minnesota, plus private grounds such as R Campground, River Ranch Camping on the Little Cedar River near Nashua, and Deer Creek Speedway Campground next to the dirt oval in Spring Valley. Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Beaver Trails, a family resort near Austin, Minnesota, is the largest amenity-heavy option in the area. Most sites in this region are seasonal, opening in spring and closing by late October. Reservations run through state agency systems for public parks and directly with owners for private grounds.

Lake Louise State Park is reserved through the Minnesota DNR reservation system at mndnr.gov/reservations or by phone at 866-857-2757. Sites become available 120 days in advance on a rolling window, and a Minnesota state park vehicle permit is required in addition to the campsite fee. Private campgrounds handle their own bookings. R Campground, River Ranch Camping, and Deer Creek Speedway Campground take reservations directly by phone or through their websites, and race weekends at Deer Creek fill months ahead. Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Beaver Trails books online through abcamping.com and often requires minimum stays on themed and holiday weekends. For summer weekends, plan to reserve four to eight weeks out at minimum, and longer for holidays and race events.
