Campgrounds and RV parks near Clyde, KS

Water recreation dominates the region. Milford Lake, the largest reservoir in Kansas, offers boating, sailing, and walleye and catfish fishing, and Cedar Point - Milford State Park provides lake access on the reservoir's east shore. Tuttle Creek Lake to the south adds sailing, powerboating, and multi-use trails, with the Fancy Creek area serving as a launch point for hiking and cycling in the northern arm of the park. On land, the Randolph area at Tuttle Creek supports equestrian use, and Rock Creek Station State Recreation Area - Horse Camp connects to roughly six miles of non-motorized multi-use trails with visible Oregon Trail wagon ruts and interpretive exhibits about the Pony Express and Wild Bill Hickok. Day trips include the Brown Grand Theatre and National Orphan Train Complex in Concordia.

Spring and fall are the strongest windows for RV travel. April through mid-June brings green prairie, blooming wildflowers, and comfortable temperatures, though it is also the peak severe-weather season in Kansas, with thunderstorms, hail, and occasional tornado watches. May is typically the wettest month, averaging over four inches of rain, and reservoir levels can rise quickly after heavy rain. Summer is hot and humid, with July highs averaging near 91 degrees and heat indices higher. Reservoir campgrounds fill on weekends around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day, and shaded electric sites at places like Fancy Creek and Cedar Point book out weeks in advance. Water at Rock Creek Station is available seasonally and shuts off after November 1, after which campers must fill from a well pump. Fall offers cooler nights, lower humidity, and quieter campgrounds through October. Modern camping facilities at Rock Creek Station are generally open from May through mid-October. Winter camping is possible at limited primitive loops, but most amenities close and cold, windy conditions are the norm.

Kansas state park loops around Milford and Tuttle Creek typically offer a mix of water and electric sites at 30- and 50-amp service, along with a smaller number of full-hookup sites and centralized dump stations. Fancy Creek has 24 electric-only campsites plus a large primitive area, with vault toilets and a shower house on site. At Rock Creek Station State Recreation Area - Horse Camp, expect paved back-in pads with electric hookups in the main loop, a modern shower and restroom building, potable water, and a dump and fill station. The equestrian area is more rustic, with 20 individual corrals grouped in fours, picnic tables, grills, and basic camping. Private resorts near Milford Lake generally provide full hookups, longer pull-through sites, Wi-Fi, and laundry. Roads into reservoir campgrounds are paved, but interior loops can be tight for larger rigs, so confirm site length when booking.
