Campgrounds and RV parks near Inman, KS

Inman sits in south-central Kansas between Hutchinson and McPherson, on the transition between the Arkansas River lowlands and the rolling Smoky Hills. The area is flat farm country broken by sand-dune remnants, small reservoirs, and shelterbelts of cottonwood. RV travelers typically use Inman as a low-cost base for the Kansas State Fair, the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson, and the sand-dune trails at Sand Hills State Park, a 1,123 acre natural area preserved for its sand dunes, grasslands, wetlands, and woodlands, with 14 miles of trails weaving between 10 to 40-foot dunes. Campground options within a short drive cover both state-park and private-park styles. Sand Hills State Park offers utility sites managed by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks. Mustang RV Park, Mcpherson RV Ranch And Horse Motel, Lighthouse Landing RV Park and Cabins, and Spring Lake RV Resort round out the private-park choices, most with full hookups suitable for larger rigs. Roads are level, sightlines are long, and interstate access via I-135 and US-50 makes the region an easy overnight stop for travelers crossing the plains.

Sand Hills State Park campgrounds are open for reservations at ReserveAmerica.com on behalf of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks. Overnight guests need a Camping permit, plus a Vehicle Permit for daily visits or a valid State Park Passport. Site-specific bookings, including the 14 Prime Sites with horsepens made up of two 12 by 12 pens, which carry a small additional daily fee, can be made online or by phone. Private parks such as Mustang RV Park, Mcpherson RV Ranch And Horse Motel, Lighthouse Landing RV Park and Cabins, and Spring Lake RV Resort take direct bookings through their own phone lines or websites. For Kansas State Fair week and holiday weekends, sites within thirty miles of Hutchinson fill weeks in advance, so lock in dates early and confirm rig-length limits when booking.
