Campgrounds and RV parks near Solomon, KS

Solomon is a small city in Dickinson and Saline counties in central Kansas, sitting near the mouth of the Solomon River just off Interstate 70. It is roughly six miles east of Abilene and about twenty minutes from Salina, which puts most Solomon-area RV trips within easy reach of two service towns for groceries, fuel, propane, and dump stations. The area is flat to gently rolling, at an elevation near 1,184 feet, and campgrounds here lean toward practical roadside and small-town RV parks rather than backcountry sites. Nearby options include Covered Wagon Campground in Abilene, Salina KOA Holiday, Walt's Four Seasons Campground and Country Store, Chapman Creek RV Park just east in Chapman, and Battlehill RV Park. Most travelers use Solomon as an I-70 overnight or as a base for exploring Abilene's Eisenhower sites, the Smoky Hills, and the Kansas prairie. Sites tend to be level with 30/50-amp electric and full hookups common at the private parks.

Private RV parks near Solomon, including Covered Wagon Campground, Salina KOA Holiday, Walt's Four Seasons Campground and Country Store, Chapman Creek RV Park, and Battlehill RV Park, take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites and Good Sam or KOA portals. Book summer holiday weekends several weeks out, since I-70 traffic and Eisenhower-site events can fill sites quickly. For Kansas state parks in the wider region, reservations are made through the KDWP system at ksoutdoors.gov and CampItKS.gov, which use ReserveAmerica. Campsites for the following year open in mid-December, and reservations can be made up to 364 days in advance. A State Park Vehicle Permit is required in addition to the camping permit.
