Campgrounds and RV parks near Beechmont, KY

Water recreation anchors most trips. Lake Malone offers fishing in a 788-acre lake, home to species like largemouth bass, crappie and catfish, with a valid Kentucky Fishing License required, boat ramps for use, and boat rental services if needed. The mile-and-one-half Laurel Trail is an easy hike with picturesque views of rock walls once used as shelters by prehistoric Native Americans, framed by mountain laurel, holly, dogwood, and wildflowers. Off-road riders head to Gregory Lake. The Drakesboro park offers 1,000 acres of trails for ATV and UTV riding and camping. Equestrians and hunters have another option nearby, with horseback riding permitted at Horseshoe Acres and hunter access to the adjacent Peabody WMA. Livermore RV Park sits on the Green River, known for its great fishing, with a boat ramp conveniently located at the park, drawing anglers and paddlers to Kentucky's longest river.

Western Kentucky has a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons. Summers in the Central City area are hot and muggy, winters are short and cool with occasional cold spells, and spring storms can move quickly through the region. Average daily high temperatures for July range from 82°F in eastern Kentucky to 91°F in the west, while January highs range from 40°F in the north to 47°F in the south. Spring and fall are the most comfortable stretches for RV travel. The best time of year to visit Lake Malone is during the spring and fall seasons, when the weather is pleasant and the surrounding foliage creates a beautiful backdrop for outdoor activities, though the campground can get crowded during summer weekends and holidays. Wildflower and mountain-laurel displays peak in mid- to late spring along the park's trails. The Lake Malone State Park campground is typically open from mid-March through the end of October, so winter RV trips lean on private year-round parks. Gregory Lake RV Park in Drakesboro operates all year, and Livermore RV Park and Horseshoe Acres also accept off-season stays. Snow in the region is generally light, with most winter precipitation falling as cold rain.

Most private parks in the area are set up for RVs of any size. Gregory Lake RV Park has 117 sites, is open all year, accepts big rigs up to 60 feet, and offers 50 pull-throughs, 84 full hookups, 30/50 amp service, tables, water, a dump station, laundry, firewood, internet, and a playground. Livermore RV Park offers 31 rental pads with electricity, water and sewer hook-ups, plus a bathhouse, three large picnic shelters, playground equipment, cooking grills, and a concrete boat ramp. At Lake Malone, expect a more rustic mix of primitive tent sites and a smaller number of RV sites with electric and water hookups, and no sewer at the site. The campground is in the Central time zone. The maximum units per site is two, which may be one camper unit plus one tent, or if no camper unit, two tents. Cell service is generally reliable along U.S. 431 and near the state park, but can drop on backroads and inside wooded sections of the campgrounds.
