Campgrounds and RV parks near Calhoun, KY

Calhoun sits on the Green River in McLean County, western Kentucky, roughly 25 miles south of Owensboro. It's a small river town that works well as a quiet base for RV travelers exploring the Ohio River valley, Green River corridor, and the surrounding farmland and wildlife management areas. Most RV-friendly campgrounds are clustered a short drive north and west toward Owensboro, or east toward Livermore and Bremen. The Green River shapes much of the local recreation, with fishing, boating, and lakeside camping as the main draws. Options range from full-service resort campgrounds to simple riverside city parks. Diamond Lake Resort is open all year long, offering over 80 acres of campground with 270 RV sites, plus cottages and cabins, while Livermore RV Park offers riverside pads with electricity, water and sewer hookups, a bathhouse, picnic shelters, and a boat ramp. Windy Hollow Campground RV Park and Horseshoe Acres Campground round out the family-oriented choices in the area.

Most campgrounds in the Calhoun area are privately owned or run by small municipalities, so booking channels vary. Diamond Lake Resort takes bookings online through its own website or by phone, and it also lists inventory through Campspot. Reservations for holiday weekends and event weekends should be made well in advance. City and county parks tend to take phone reservations. Livermore RV Park handles reservations through its park manager by phone, and Horseshoe Acres Campground works the same way. Windy Hollow accepts cash or check only for payment, so travelers should confirm accepted payment methods before arrival. Kentucky State Parks in the wider region use a central online reservation system through parks.ky.gov, useful for trip extensions to Pennyrile Forest or Lake Malone State Park south of Calhoun.
