Campgrounds near Beverly
Beverly sits on the Massachusetts North Shore, about 30 minutes north of Boston and a short drive from Cape Ann, Salem, and the New Hampshire border. RV travelers use it as a base for coastal beaches, harbor towns, and easy day trips into the city by car or commuter rail. Campground options range from privately run coastal parks to state-managed forests and barrier-beach reservations.
The closest full-service RV option is Cape Ann Camp Site, a wooded campground overlooking the Annisquam River with sites for tents and RVs. Inland, Loraine Park Campground at Harold Parker State Forest sits just 20 miles north of Boston with over 3,000 acres of hardwood, hemlock and white pine forest and 91 campsites.
For a beach-front stay, Salisbury Beach State Reservation offers 484 campsites with water and electric hookups, comfort stations and a playground, with boardwalks providing access to an ocean beach. Tent-only campers can also ferry out to Peddocks Island in Boston Harbor, featuring wooded campsites, miles of trails, and newly installed yurts with bunk beds and electricity.
Things to do near Beverly
Beaches drive most trips. Wingaersheek and Good Harbor on Cape Ann, Crane Beach in Ipswich, and the long barrier strand at Salisbury are all within an hour. Salem, roughly 15 minutes from Beverly, adds maritime history and witch-trial sites, while Rockport offers galleries and the lobster shacks and shops of Bearskin Neck.
On-water activities include whale watching out of Gloucester over Stellwagen Bank, harbor cruises, deep-sea fishing, and kayaking on the Annisquam and Merrimack rivers. Harold Parker State Forest supports hiking, mountain biking, fishing, canoeing, hunting, horseback riding and picnicking across more than 3,000 acres of forest, and the property includes 35 miles of trails and 11 ponds.
Boston is roughly a 30-mile drive or a direct commuter-rail ride from Beverly, useful for Fenway games, museums, and Faneuil Hall day trips.

The camping season on the North Shore is short and coastal. Most private and state campgrounds run from spring through mid-fall. The Harold Parker camping season typically runs from early May to Columbus Day weekend, and Salisbury Beach's regular camping season runs from early May to mid-October, with off-season camping from mid-October to late November on Thursday, Friday and Saturday only.
Summer weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day are the busiest window, and coastal sites fill months in advance. Bugs peak in early summer inland, and ticks and mosquitoes are present in wooded state forests, so repellent and long sleeves help.
Fall brings foliage, cooler nights, and thinner crowds. Peddocks Island camping runs through mid-October, with campgrounds available Wednesday through Saturday during summer and Thursday through Saturday in fall. At Salisbury Beach, water hookups and the dump station shut off in mid-October for the season, though the B Street bathhouse remains open.

How to book near Beverly
State-run campgrounds in Massachusetts, including Harold Parker, Salisbury Beach, and Boston Harbor Islands, are reserved through the DCR's ReserveAmerica system. Reservations can be made up to 4 months prior to the arrival date, and reservations are required, with no walk-in camping allowed. Same-day advance reservations can be made online up until 2 pm on the date of arrival.
Peddocks Island has its own workflow because it is boat-access only. Peddocks Island can be accessed by park ferry from Hingham or by private boat, and campers are strongly encouraged to book ferry passage immediately after making their camping reservation. RVs cannot be brought to the island; tent sites and yurts only.
Cape Ann Camp Site is privately owned and books directly through the campground's own reservation system rather than a state portal.
What to expect near Beverly
Coastal North Shore roads are narrow and older than most RV chassis, so larger rigs should call ahead for routing when heading to Cape Ann.
At state forests, expect rustic amenities and forested privacy. Each site at Loraine Park has a picnic table, fire ring and pedestal grill, with a water spigot on each campsite and a dumping station available; eleven campsites have 20/30/50 amp hookups, and the comfort stations have showers and flush toilets. Salisbury Beach sites sit on open barrier-beach sand with limited shade but full water and electric hookups.
Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in all Massachusetts state parks and campgrounds, and pets are permitted at most campgrounds with a limit of four per site, a current rabies certificate required at check-in, and leashes required at all times. Pets, alcohol, fireworks and amplified sound are prohibited at the island campgrounds.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Beverly, MA
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Beverly, MA?
An RV rental in Beverly is one of the most affordable ways to explore the North Shore. On RVezy, towable trailers in the Beverly area average around $125 a night, while motorhome rentals near Beverly average about $200 a night, with many hosts offering 10 to 20 percent discounts on weekly and monthly bookings. For a cheap RV rental in Beverly, look at pop-up trailers or smaller travel trailers, which often come in well under $100 a night. Booking midweek or in the shoulder seasons (late May or September) is the smart-money move when leaf-peeping crowds thin out. Pro tip: use the price-range filter on RVezy and message hosts directly to ask about multi-night discounts.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Beverly%2C%20MassachusettsDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Beverly, MA?
Great news for first-timers: a regular Massachusetts Class D driver's license (or equivalent from your home state or country) is all you need to rent most RVs in Beverly. No Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement is required as long as the RV's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) stays under 26,001 pounds, which covers the vast majority of Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and travel trailers on RVezy. You also need to meet RVezy's approved driver requirements (generally 25 or older), and ID verification happens right inside the RVezy platform during booking. Visiting from abroad? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your home country license, and you are set to rent an RV in Massachusetts.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat's included for protection and peace of mind on a Beverly RV rental?
You are covered from the moment you book. Every RV rental in Beverly through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so help is one phone call away if you have a flat tire on Route 128 or a battery issue at your campsite in Harold Parker State Forest. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the vehicle, and you choose your coverage level during checkout (not the host). That means you decide how much extra security feels right. Pro tip: review the protection options carefully on the checkout page, especially if it is your first time renting an RV.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Beverly RV rental?
Booking is low-risk. RVezy sets a clear cancellation policy for every reservation, including a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in your dates with confidence. Refund outcomes depend on how far in advance you cancel and the policy tied to your booking. Hosts do not set this policy: RVezy does, so it is consistent across every listing. If a host needs to cancel, RVezy works with you on a refund or rebooking credit. Pro tip: book early to secure the best campervan rental Beverly has available, then take advantage of the grace-period window to finalize plans without stress.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Beverly RV trip?
Absolutely. Plenty of furry travelers hit the road on the North Shore each year. On RVezy, use the Pet-Friendly filter to find a pet-friendly RV rental in Beverly that welcomes your dog. Many local campgrounds love four-legged guests too: Harold Parker State Forest in nearby Andover allows leashed pets at campsites (bring a current rabies certificate for check-in), and Salisbury Beach State Reservation welcomes leashed dogs in the campground. Heads up: dogs are not allowed on Salisbury Beach itself during the summer season. Pro tip: Lynch Park and the Beverly Commons Conservation Area both offer leashed-dog-friendly walking trails that are perfect for stretching paws.
mass.gov/locations/salisbury-beach-state-reservationCan the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway in Beverly?
Yes, and it is the easiest way to start a trip if you have never towed before. Many RVezy hosts offer RV delivery in Beverly straight to your driveway, a local campground like Winter Island Park in Salem (just 10 minutes south), or even up to Salisbury Beach State Reservation. The host arrives, levels the rig, hooks up water and power, and walks you through every system before handing over the keys. Delivery fees vary by distance and host, but it is a game-changer for first-time renters who would rather skip city driving on Route 1A. Pro tip: use the Delivery filter on RVezy and message the host with your campsite number for an accurate quote.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Beverly%2C%20MassachusettsHow far can I drive on a Beverly RV rental, and what about mileage limits?
You have real freedom to roam from Beverly. Most hosts include a daily mileage allowance (commonly 100 to 150 miles per day) with the option to pre-purchase additional miles, and some listings offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, perfect for a longer New England loop. From Beverly, popular drives include Acadia National Park, Maine (about 250 miles, roughly 4.5 hours), the White Mountains of New Hampshire (around 120 miles, 2.5 hours), Cape Cod (about 90 miles, under 2 hours), the Berkshires (about 150 miles, 2.5 hours), and Vermont's Green Mountains (around 175 miles, 3 hours). Pro tip: check the mileage policy on each listing before booking, and message your host about an unlimited-miles add-on for big road trips.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Beverly%2C%20MassachusettsWhere are the best campgrounds near Beverly, MA?
You are spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping near Beverly. Top picks within an hour include Harold Parker State Forest in Andover (about 25 minutes inland, with around 89 campsites, a dump station, and select sites with electric hookups), Salisbury Beach State Reservation in Salisbury (about 35 minutes north, with hundreds of oceanfront sites featuring water and electric), Winter Island Park in Salem (about 5 miles away, on a historic seaside peninsula with full hookups), and Boston/Cape Cod KOA in Middleboro for southbound trips. Pro tip: book Harold Parker about six months out through ReserveAmerica, as summer weekends sell out fast.
mass.gov/locations/harold-parker-state-forestWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Beverly, MA?
The sweet spot for RV camping in Beverly runs from late May through mid-October, with peak July through August hitting comfortable highs in the upper 70s to low 80s F. September and early October are arguably the smart-money move: temperatures stay pleasant (60s to low 70s F), bugs are gone, and the North Shore foliage turns brilliant red and gold. Massachusetts DCR state-park campgrounds like Harold Parker and Salisbury Beach typically operate from mid-May through Columbus Day weekend. Pro tip: book a mid-September Beverly RV trip for prime leaf-peeping, fewer crowds at Salem witch-history attractions, and lower nightly rates from hosts.
weather.gov/box/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay?
You have got this, and you are not alone. Every RVezy host gives a full orientation and walkthrough at pickup, showing you how to operate the generator, slide-outs, water system, propane, and dump valves before you ever turn the key. For first time renting an RV out of Beverly, choose a Class B campervan or a smaller Class C motorhome (under 25 feet), which handle a lot like a large van and fit easily on local roads like Route 128 and US-1. You can message your host beforehand from the listing page with any nervous-newbie questions. Pro tip: practice a few right-hand turns in a quiet lot near Lynch Park before heading north on I-95, and you will feel confident in 30 minutes.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat if something goes wrong on the road?
Help is built right into every booking. Every Beverly RV rental on RVezy comes with 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, towing, and mechanical breakdowns. So whether you are stuck on the Tobin Bridge heading out of Boston or pulled over on Route 128, one call gets a professional dispatched to you. The RVezy support team is also reachable before, during, and after your trip through the Help Center. Pro tip: save the roadside-assistance number to your phone before you leave Beverly, and snap a photo of the RV's license plate and VIN at pickup so you have them ready if needed.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Beverly RV rental across state lines, into Canada, or to Mexico?
Cross-state travel is the whole point, and you have incredible options from Beverly. An RV road trip from Beverly easily reaches New Hampshire's White Mountains, Maine's rocky coast, Vermont, Rhode Island, and New York's Adirondacks, all under a day's drive. Cross-border travel into Canada (the Maritimes or Quebec) depends on the specific host and insurance terms, so message the host directly before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals, as the protection plan does not extend to Mexico. Pro tip: a classic 7-day loop from Beverly is up the Maine coast to Acadia, back through the White Mountains, then home through Vermont's Green Mountains.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and budget should I plan for?
Plan smart and your fuel budget stays predictable. Class B campervans average around 18 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A motorhomes 6 to 10 MPG. Massachusetts gas prices typically sit slightly above the national average for regular unleaded in the Beverly area. For a 4-day trip from Beverly to the White Mountains and back (around 350 miles), budget roughly $100 to $175 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: GasBuddy often shows lower prices at stations in Danvers and Peabody just south of Beverly, and topping off there before getting on I-95 north can save a few bucks per tank.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground for my Beverly RV trip?
Book early and you will lock in the prime spots. For Massachusetts state parks like Harold Parker State Forest and Salisbury Beach State Reservation, reservations open about six months ahead through the ReserveAmerica system at massdcrcamping.reserveamerica.com. Summer weekends (especially July 4 and Labor Day) at Salisbury Beach sell out fast after release. Private campgrounds like Winter Island Park in Salem and Boston/Cape Cod KOA take reservations 6 to 12 months out. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for the booking window, have your dates and rig length ready, and refresh right when the system opens. Walk-in registrations are generally not permitted at DCR campgrounds, so a reservation is a must.
mass.gov/info-details/reserve-a-campsite-yurt-or-cabin-at-a-massachusetts-state-parkWhat are driving conditions like around Beverly and the North Shore?
Beverly driving is manageable once you know the local rhythm. Route 128 (I-95) is the main artery and can back up during weekday rush hours (7 to 9 am and 4 to 6:30 pm), so plan departures outside those windows. Route 1A through Beverly, Salem, and Marblehead is scenic but narrow with low-hanging trees in spots, so check your RV's height (most Class Cs sit around 11 feet) before taking it. Winter brings snow and ice from December through March. Most RVezy hosts pause winter bookings or require cold-weather experience. Pro tip: rent a Class B campervan or a sub-25-foot Class C for easiest handling on tight North Shore roads, and use I-95 instead of Route 1 when heading north past Topsfield.
mass.gov/orgs/highway-divisionWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Beverly?
You will be well-equipped at local sites. Harold Parker State Forest offers select campsites with electric hookups, water spigots, a dump station, hot showers, flush toilets, and a swimming beach at Berry Pond. Salisbury Beach State Reservation provides water and electric at the majority of its sites, comfort stations with showers, a dump station, and direct boardwalk access to the Atlantic beach. Winter Island Park in nearby Salem has full hookups (water, sewer, electric) and ocean views. Where to dump and fill water in a pinch: most Massachusetts DCR campgrounds let paid campers use their dump stations. Pro tip: bring a 50-foot freshwater hose and a 30-amp-to-50-amp adapter to handle any hookup combo.
mass.gov/locations/harold-parker-state-forestWhat equipment and amenities come with a typical Beverly RV rental?
You will feel right at home. Most motorhome rentals in Beverly come fully equipped with a queen or king bed, a kitchen (fridge, freezer, propane stove, microwave, sink, cookware, dishes), a wet or dry bathroom with toilet and shower, roof air conditioning, propane furnace, dinette that converts to extra sleeping, and seatbelts for everyone traveling. Many include a generator, an outdoor awning, a flat-screen TV, and Bluetooth speakers. WiFi varies by host and cell coverage. On the North Shore, major carriers work well at Harold Parker and along the coast. Towable trailers include the same living amenities but require a properly rated tow vehicle. Pro tip: filter RVezy listings by sleeps count and confirm with the host that linens, towels, and kitchen basics are included so you can pack light.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Beverly%2C%20MassachusettsWhat add-ons and pickup logistics should I expect on a Beverly RV rental?
Hosts make customizing your trip easy. Popular add-ons for a Beverly RV rental include linen and towel packages ($30 to $75), kitchen kits, generators, outdoor camp chairs and tables, bike racks, propane tank fills, and portable grills, typically ranging from $10 to $100 each. Pickup usually happens at the host's home in Beverly or a nearby North Shore town like Danvers, Peabody, or Salem, with pickup and dropoff windows set by the host on the listing. Delivery and setup to local campgrounds is widely available too. Pro tip: ask the host about a late-checkout add-on if you want to squeeze in one more morning at Singing Beach in Manchester-by-the-Sea before returning the rig.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Beverly%2C%20MassachusettsHow do payments and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and secure. When you book an RV in Beverly through RVezy, you pay through the platform with a credit or debit card, no cash or off-platform transfers needed. A refundable security deposit is held (typically by pre-authorization on your card) at the start of the trip and released after the host confirms the RV is returned in the same condition with the tanks emptied and fuel topped off. To avoid surprise charges, document the RV's condition with photos and video at pickup and dropoff, refill the propane and fuel as agreed, and dump the gray and black tanks before returning. Pro tip: keep your gas and dump-station receipts: they are your proof if any post-trip questions come up.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I park an RV overnight in Beverly outside of a campground?
You have a few practical options on the North Shore. Many rest areas along I-95 and I-93 in Massachusetts allow short-term overnight rest while you stay inside your RV (no slide-outs, awnings, or outdoor camping setups, and do not leave the vehicle unattended for extended periods). Beverly itself has local zoning rules limiting on-street RV parking, so the smart move is to book a campsite at Winter Island Park in Salem, Harold Parker State Forest, or use a Harvest Hosts location at a nearby farm or winery. Pro tip: some Walmart and Cabela's stores in the region permit overnight RV parking with manager approval, but always call ahead to confirm before counting on it.
