Campgrounds and RV parks near Marblehead, MA

Marblehead sits on a rocky peninsula on Boston's North Shore, about 17 miles northeast of downtown Boston. The town itself has no RV campgrounds within its borders, so RV renters typically base their trip at parks north up the coast toward Cape Ann, or use the harbor islands south of the city for a tent-based side trip. The closest full-service RV option is Cape Ann Camp Site in Gloucester, roughly a 30 to 40 minute drive north. It is a family-owned, wooded property established in 1949, with more than 200 sites that range from tent spots to RV sites with electric, water, and full hookups, plus a small camp store stocked with ice and wood and multiple toilet and shower buildings. South of Marblehead, the Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park offers rustic, ferry-access camping on Peddocks Island, with both tent sites and yurts. Nearby islands including Bumpkin Island, Thompson Island, and Grape Island are part of the same park system. RVs stay at mainland lots while campers ferry over with gear.

Cape Ann Camp Site is booked directly through the campground, with the season running from May 15 through Columbus Day. Minimum-stay rules apply on weekends and holidays, and deposits are required at booking. Because access roads are narrow and sites are terraced on a hillside, callers with larger rigs should confirm site suitability before reserving. Boston Harbor Islands camping on Peddocks Island is reserved through ReserveAmerica, the Massachusetts DCR system. Bookings open four months in advance of the check-in date, walk-up registrations are not permitted, and same-day reservations can be made until 2 p.m. on the day of arrival. A separate roundtrip ferry ticket from Hingham Shipyard must be booked as well, since ferry capacity is limited and campers cannot reach the island without it.
